A GRUMPY OLD POPE—ROBERT MICKENS SAID IT, NOT ME

But that is a problem with many priests and bishops, they are negative and moody and this afflicts both progressive and traditionalist minded prelates and priests.

A little bit of sugar goes a long way in changing systems compared to being vinegar. Pope Francis Italian/South American personality is a deadly combination because His Holiness is so Italian/South American. Scolding and naming calling evidently are a part of this culture’s working class. It could also be a political ploy.

You can only imagine how much less the Church would be polarized and unhappy since the election of Pope Francis on 3/13/13. He could have won over traditionalists with sugar rather than vinegar. Rigid young priests in their starched cassocks might have become more flexible. Pickled passed nuns more beautiful. There would be less of a threat of schism and apostasy with the German Church. Synodality, that self-referential process of navel or is it naval gazing would not be as divisive and pagan-like because of its hyper potential to be political and like a political process rather than a Holy Spirit led process.

Nastiness never works for a priest in a parish (except for cult like figures like Fr. Altman) or in dioceses like Rome.

This is what Robert Mikens writes:

 A grumpy old pope?

The reason for his visit was to mark Vatican Radio's 90th and the newspaper's 160th anniversaries. He never mentioned either milestone.Rather, he compared the costly multi-media department -- of which the two entities are essential components -- to a mountain that gives birth to a mouse! And later he basically accused it of being all glitz and glitter, bogged down by inefficient bureaucracy -- what he called mere "functionalism".Francis was in a grumpy mood throughout the visit and was still testy several hours later when he had a go at the Italian bishops who were gathered for their plenary assembly at a big hotel-conference center. After being greeted by the finely attired prelates, he said: "When I came in I had a nasty thought, forgive me: is this an assembly of bishops or a contest to choose the most handsome bishop?" Then he proceeded to scold them, too. He said they must be suffering from "amnesia" because they "had forgotten" to follow up on the extremely clear instructions he gave them in November 2015 to begin a synodal process to reform the Italian Church.

Bergoglio has always been this way, he was judged unsuitable for promotion by superiors, found solace in psychotherapy, and has been an unholy terror to those in the Vatican.

He has surrounded himself with sychophants of utter shamelessness, has given the iron boot to any who dare advise him of more level headed approaches, speaks only in the lamest platitudes in public.

Otherwise his pronouncements are a mishmash of gobbledygook, and is vindictive beyond belief, even his ghostwrit encyclicals show his own unstable input, including the one on prayer muchly consumed with bashing others. He has been caught several times on camera exposing his mile wide mean streak when suprised.

One day, they will admit they elected a man who is insane. Those who elected him knew all this but thought they could control him to their own uses, and even THEY have their hands full.

I am waiting for the general audience where he proclaims himself Master Of Reality. Or, him suddenly "taken ill" and kept sedated while his handlers push through changes with his signature. Or even without, as the Basilica Mass restrictions showed they could do.

When he goes to his just reward, it will take decades for the Vatican to recover from the trauma of having a Mad King loose in the halls, and hundreds of years to sort out the psychotic doctrinal devastation left in his wake.

Well, perhaps someone should explain then how he got elected? Who were the other candidates? What was the criteria?

The electors were sold the bill of goods that it would take an outsider to clean up the Vatican, particularly the finances. So, they elect him, and the most corrupt of the bunch cozy up to him and back him, and he protects his backers, those same folk likely taking quite a bit of money from wealthy Germans and Chinese to also back their agendas.

why does the author bring up Fr Altman ? he lost me there, to compare the two is asinine. I have never heard a more cheerful priest at least in interviews. For some silly reason to tell the truth is mean or nasty, hardly! How we need more of him and less of Fr Milquetoast. To say the hard things in this world takes backbone something lacking in the church today

At least PF has enough of a classical education to be able to quote Horace: Parturiunt montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. (The mountains are in labour, and a ridiculous mouse will be born.)

Anonymous at 5:32 PM,

And PF still has not disciplined the gay clerics in the Vatican caught in a cocaine fueled sex orgy. If there was ever an easy case, that was one. The fact nothing has been done, tells me the gay mafia truly is running the show there.

Cardinal Pell, on multiple occasions, has praised Pope Francis' efforts to "clean up" Vatican financial corruption.

Cardinal Pell has also rejected the claim issued by certain folks that any degree of Vatican financial corruption runs right to Pope Francis.

During a 2020 A.D. interview with Cardinal Pell, journalist Andrew Bolt, who has attacked Pope Francis, posed the following question related to Vatican financial corruption:

Bolt: "I have described it as running right to the very feet of the Pope. Would I be wrong?"

Cardinal Pell: "Yes."

Cardinal George Pell thanked Pope Francis Friday following the dramatic resignation of Vatican Cardinal Angelo Becciu.

In a statement sent to CNA Sept. 25, the former prefect of the Vatican Secretariat for the Economy said:

“The Holy Father was elected to clean up Vatican finances. He plays a long game and is to be thanked and congratulated on recent developments.”

-- Cardinal Pell: Vatican financial reform making progress

CATHOLIC NEWS SERVICE

"While questions remain about dubious financial dealings in the past and about future uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vatican's steady move toward financial transparency is on the right track, said Cardinal George Pell, former prefect of the Vatican Secretariat for the Economy.

During a Jan. 15 webinar on transparency in the Catholic Church, Cardinal Pell said that Pope Francis' efforts to reform the Vatican's finances, including a recent measure that removed financial assets from the control of the Vatican Secretariat of State, would hopefully bring much-needed accountability.

"There's no doubt that if implemented appropriately and well, it represents massive, massive progress," Cardinal Pell said..."

Mark Thomas,

Cardinal Pell went to jail and PF did NOTHING for him and he did nothing to discipline gay Vatican priests who were involved in a cocaine fueled sex orgy. Have you no decency?

Cardinal Pell has declared otherwise.

He praised Pope Francis for the friendship and support during the arrest, trail, and imprisonment, that he (Cardinal Pell) had received from His Holiness.

In regard to the arrest, imprisonment, and persecution of Cardinal Pell, journalist Andrew Bolt asked Cardinal Pell:

Bolt: "In this matter, has the Pope supported you as you would have wished?"

Cardinal Pell: "Absolutely. He has been very supportive right through."

================================================================================

Cardinal Pell, interview with the National Catholic Register:

Register: "Returning to the journal, you recall the contents of some of the letters that you received. Are there any that particularly stand out to you that you’d like to mention? Ones which were very encouraging to you?"

Cardinal Pell: "Well, I was very [heartened to] get messages of support from Pope Francis the Holy Father and Pope Benedict. I think they were both very respectful of due process, of the Australian due processes, but made quite clear their support for me."

Anonymous, please drive Satan from your heart, and mind, in regard to your effort to defame His Holiness, Pope Francis.

Holy Mother Church has exhorted us to cultivate love, and respect, for Pope Francis.

Mark Thomas,

Cardinal Pell was being diplomatic. Please publish PF's letter of joy when Cardinal Pell was vindicated, if you can find it. Please note PF did not reinstate Pell to his previous position where he was ferreting out evildoers in the Vatican. You also continue to fail to answer what PF did to discipline those miscreant gay clerics in the Vatican who engaged in a cocaine fueled gay sex orgy. Please drive Satan from your own heart and admit your Golden Calf has his flaws.

Anonymous, you are 0-3 in regard to your attacks against His Holiness, Pope Francis.

Contrary to your claims in question:

1. Cardinal Pell has praised the work performed by Pope Francis in regard to the "cleaning up" of Vatican finances.

2. Cardinal Pell has rejected the claim that Vatican financial scandals run right to Pope Francis.

3. Cardinal Pell praised the loyalty and support that during his trial, and imprisonment, that he had received from Pope Francis.

Had you paid attention to Cardinal Pell's interviews, you would have known that he and Pope Francis always — prior to, during, as well as following the Cardinal's trial/imprisonment — enjoyed a fine relationship with each other.

Pax.

Mark Thomas,

You are 0-11 in providing evidence that PF disciplined the gay clerics engaged in a cocaine fueled sex orgy in the Vatican AND you have not produced a statement from PF lauding Cardinal Pell nor restoring him to his role in ferreting out the crooks involved with the Vatican finances.
