PRIEST AS THE TEACHER OF THE FAITH

The Thomistic Institute (the Dominicans) is sponsoring the continuing education conference that I am attending in Nashville. Our Masses are inculturated and at this morning's Mass Dolly Parton is the cantor with Lady Antebellum as the schola.

I came with a friend of mine from Pensacola, Fr. Pat Foley. He attended last year and told me that many of the priests are casually dressed. So since I am on vacation I took no clerics. Turns out we were the only two dressed this way which I am sure the younger cassocked generation of priests are thinking that eventually the biological solution will take care of us as my generation is responsible for the sad state of affairs in the Church these past 50 years.

All kidding aside, the conference thus far is great and quite informative.

We heard a new take on how the horizontal approach to the liturgy and sacraments has had such a deleterious effect on the Church these past 50 years. Definitely the verticle approach must be recovered and the medicinal purposes of healing the sin sick soul of disordered passions recovered.

BE CAREFUL THAT THE DOMINICAN SISTERS OF NASHVILLE DON'T SEE YOU SLOUCHING IN MASS WITH STREET CLOTHS. THE BIOLOGICAL SOLUTION DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN AN UNASSISTED SOLUTION!!!

Given that this is the kind of conference where priests were alleged to slouch around in civvies, it should be pointed out that The Thomistic Institute is home-based in NYC, and that this conference is co-sponsored by them and the Diocese of Nashville, not the Nashville Dominican Sisters.

But it might be interesting to hear whether any Nashville Dominicans are seen at such a sloppy civilian-dress institute as you heard this one rumored to be. And why, Father, you would have chosen to attend such an affair, however more serious-minded it may have turned out to be.

What's new about this? Some new slant on the old story?

I'm ready for you to change the picture on the header of this blog. I dislike scrolling down past it.

I'm away on continuing Ed and can't easily change it with my iPhone or mini iPad but will by the weekend when I get to my laptop.

Why do you have an iPad mini? Pope Francis shall send an Inquisition.

ytc, it is powered by water boiled by burnt copra husks. There is jubilation between Capricorn and Cancer.

I wish Pope Francis would send an inquisition after the anonymoi on this blog, and hand each one a new name to use.
