THE SCANDAL OF THE PRIESTHOOD AND A VERY GOOD APOLOGETIC FOR IT!

LIBERATED FROM THE SLAVERY OF FASHION AND ROOTED IN THE FAITH WE HAVE RECEIVED AND NOT INVENTED!

Every parish in the diocese should be forced to show this video at every Mass. You have priests and deacons who insist, off the record of course, that women priests are just a pope away and a large number of laity who insist it's coming. A cold dose of reality would do them good.

Our very own diocesan newspaper, ran a letter from a "Catholic" on Tybee Island in its December edition scolding the Church for defrocking and excommunicating Fr. Ray Bourgeois for his support of women's ordination. The letter included these words:

"Apparently, the source of this punitive treatment of Bourgeois are really out of touch with the real sensitivities of the faithful. Indicators from most of the Catholic Faithful across the country are that there is a large and growing support for the ordination of women. The research has already indicated that there is no theological reason why this is forbidden. Bourgeois is simply standing on what is already there--the "consensus fidelium" (consent of the faithful). It will prevail."

Not one letter was published to rebut this ridiculous assertion and neither was there any editorial rebuttal. Many readers could take that as an implicit endorsement of women's ordination from our official diocesan paper.

Or the editor unwittingly published that tripe because it was from a religious who belongs to an order that is somewhat post-Catholic. So I suspect to publish rebuttals or even an editorial now would draw more attention to heretical views on the theological and doctrinal meaning of the "sense of the faithful."

I should offer a disclaimer that I am not in the know in terms of my comments above, it is purely conjecture on my part. But Fr. Doug Clarke should write an article rebutting such a heretical view.

ROFL it's "sensus fidelium," not "consensus fidelium." No Pope needs the consent of the faithful for anything.

I remember the article in the Southern Cross referenced by Anonymous. Since, I have summarily thrown away every issue I received in the mail without so much as opening it. Even if I were still living in the Savannah Diocese, I would not pay for a subscription. I noticed the most recent issue (on the cover) had a picture of the Bishop washing the feet of a woman (a la the Good Friday Liturgy). That is a liturgical abuse that is now propagated for the entire diocese. The Southern Cross is a waste of paper and diocesan resources.

(There have been more than these two instances I just mentioned that lead me to my conclusions... These are just the most recent that I recall)

Great video. Father Giertych (from the video) was my morals professor at the Angelicum and was appointed the Papal Theologian the semester I had him as a teacher. Thanks for sharing.
