I was going to post this video, but I think this young priest, because he is young and with great zeal made a big mistake. It is called self-aggrandizement. At first, very humble and then it goes array. He won't allow this to happen again, even if he has to withdraw. Not sure what this means. But to be sure, he will be better than anyone else who doesn't follow his lead.
The Pandemic in modern times created many fears, phobias and the like. Mistakes were made to be sure, but I think it was all of good will, not a malicious attempt to undermined the Church, although I am sure Satan used missteps to do that.
I would caution this priest against pitting himself as the good one now and everyone who doesn't see it as he does as bad.
I am unsure what he meant by withdraw, but the apology for abandoning flock seems sincere and should be mirrored by all who indeed did so, and that was indeed the majority. Without that, it will take the entire population who indeed was abandoned to die off naturally before this is forgotten.
Holy Church has always promised to accompany her children from cradle to grave, even when nobody else will.
This past year saw tens of thousands, if not more, die, alone, no opportunity for confession, absolution, viaticum, just nothing..."mistakes were made" is an understatement.
