O MY, O MY! THIS SOUNDS LIKE MY LITURGY COURSES IN THE LATE 1970'S

This is the 1970's. Is there any wonder that Catholic Identity was swallowed up in this sort of stuff and the greatest departure from the faith and morals for perverted narcissism became the norm from which we have yet to recover? I got this from Rorate Caeli:

Yeah, but this was taped in December 2013! Not a surprise in the sad liturgical wasteland of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee!

I didn't watch the whole thing. I just couldn't.

"Hi, I'm Deacon Sandy." My immediate response wants to be, "So, who gives a s..t."

Hey, don'cha bet that each of those 70 ministries has something that it breaks open?

Why would I want to subject myself to that Good Shepherd church in Wisconsin when I can already experience many (though not all) of the very same hokey things (with the same or similar hokey justifications) in my home parish in southeast Georgia?

I just got through watching this video and then went to Rorate Caeli and watched that young bearded Englishman explain the pre-Lenten season which begins with Septuagesima. The juxtaposition of these two videos shows very well two generations and two very differing visions of the Church and its liturgy. My age may fall between these two guys but my sympathies are definitely with that younger Englishman!

What a mess.

I find it interesting that the Bishop of Milwaukee allows him to call himself the pastor. That is a canonical title and can only be given to a priest and sometimes not even priests who are in charge are given the title pastor, but rather Administrator. I think this parish is do-it-yourself Catholicism.

The pastor's page

http://www.mygoodshepherd.org/staff_pastor.html

at their web site shows "Deacon Sandy" as the Parish Director--with two OFM Assisting Priests--but appears to enumerate his responsibilities as those of a pastor:

"Sandy will direct all aspects of parish life including oversight of ministry with the pastoral team (council), staff, and volunteers."

I went over to YouTube and saw some videos of Sandy in action, and it was worse than my worst imaginings. I suppose this was technically a Catholic Mass, but I wouldn't recognize it as such. The matter used for the Eucharist would in any case render it illicit, and if I have to go to an illicit but valid Mass I would plump for the SSPX any day. Fortunately the Solemn Mass I attended this morning (Sexagesima) was both valid and licit.

Should anyone have the temerity to suggest that staying at home rather than standing in Sandy's "worship space" constitutes a mortal sin, then I would seriously doubt his sanity.

JJ, the "bearded Englishman" is Dr Joseph Shaw, an Oxford philosophy don and chairman of the Latin Mass Society. His "chairman's blog" on the LMS website is a must-read.
