SAD DAY!

RIP Dorothy, Toto and the great Wizard. A fifth balloon shot down over Kansas was theirs! 🥲

Father McDonald, your great sense of humor is again on display.

Speaking of the Wizard of Oz:

The supposed real meaning of the book/movie:

One of my most memorable experiences was a hot air balloon ride a friend and I took in Sedona, Arizona, several years ago. We and 14 others plus the pilot - I had no idea that balloon gondolas were that large - took off about 6:00 a.m. and rode the winds over some of the most stunning red rock landscapes I've ever seen. While the direction of the trip is determined by the winds, the pilot had control over the "up and downs." At one point he executed a "touch and go" in which we descended slowly toward a farm pond about the size of a tennis court, just barley sploshed the surface, and rose again to cruising altitudes. It was a magical two hour ride.

With Father McDonald's permission...and in keeping with the upbeat spirit of this thread:

Judy Garland is forever linked to the Wizard of Oz. Here is Judy Garland's early 1960s appearance on the Jack Parr Program.

Her appearance begins at the 16:12 mark.

In line with Father McDonald, Judy Garland, had a great sense of humor.

At the end of the show, Judy Garland, and Robert Goulet, sing a song from the musical Camelot. Jack Parr has fun as he tries to throw Judy Garland, and Robert Goulet, off track during the song.

46:56 Mark.

That type of wonderful entertainment is long gone from American television.

Father Kavanaugh, thank you for that story.

I wonder as to how fast (mph) that hot air balloons travel?

mark - It goes as the winds go.

Father Kavanaugh, thank you.

I had thought that the weight of the balloon, and/or altitude, may alter the mph. But then, I am not very smart.

Anyway, Father Kavanaugh, I am glad that you had enjoyed a wonderful, safe flight.

Thank you, Father Kavanaugh, for your holy service to the Church.

Thank You.
