AN ELITIST GROUP OF PEOPLE WALKED TO A MEETING AND CAME UP WITH A VAPID STATEMENT THAT A KINDERGARTEN KID COULD HAVE WRITTEN! ONE WONDERS HOW MUCH ALL THIS WALKING TOGETHER AND TALKING COST?

In this summary of a committee meeting, as vapid as it is, at least in it there is one sentence that could have said it all and with no meeting and it is this:

As always, our desire is to be communities of ever-closer followers of Jesus Christ, led by the Holy Spirit to the Kingdom of the Father.

What truly sickens is that these thoroughly benighted people actually believe this stuff and groom others to likewise believe it.

I appreciated the address.

The Bishops of Oceania delivered a powerful pro-life address, which included the following:

"With Pope Francis, we affirm that the witness of life requires the defense of human life from conception to natural death;"

Excerpts: .

"As always, our desire is to be communities of ever-closer followers of Jesus Christ, led by the Holy Spirit to the Kingdom of the Father."

"As we continue on the journey towards the Synod Assemblies in Rome, we place our trust in the mercy of God who will surely accompany us."

"The nature of our context and the desire to become more synodal call for an integral formation for the entire People of God – lay, religious and clergy."

"Formation is always at the service of mission, which has several dimensions: the witness of life; explicit proclamation of the Gospel; conversion; entry into and growth within the Christian community; and becoming an agent of evangelisation oneself."

"With Pope Francis, we affirm that the witness of life requires the defense of human life from conception to natural death; respect for all life; the promotion of justice and peace; and an ecological conversion that is personal, communal and structural."

"We seek to become people who are grounded in Scripture and Tradition, and its interpretation in our cultural traditions."

"Lay people, whose mission is in the heart of the world, especially require formation in the Church’s tradition of teaching and acting on social issues and ecological crises – that is Catholic Social Teaching."

"Most of all, formation should mould us to be people who joyfully accept the invitation to participate in God’s mission."

From Pope Benedict XVI’s post-mortem volume."

"At the end of my reflections, I want to thank Pope Francis for everything he does to constantly display the light of God, which, even today, has not faded. Thank you, Holy Father!"

The Concluding Statement from the Catholic Bishops of Oceania is in line with Pope Benedict XVI's teachings:

-- IF YOU WANT TO CULTIVATE PEACE, PROTECT CREATION

-- Climate change is real, Pope Benedict XVI declared.

January 1, 2010 A.D. Pope Benedict XVI:

"Man’s inhumanity to man has given rise to numerous threats to peace and to authentic and integral human development – wars, international and regional conflicts, acts of terrorism, and violations of human rights."

"Yet no less troubling are the threats arising from the neglect – if not downright misuse – of the earth and the natural goods that God has given us."

"In my Encyclical Caritas in Veritate, I noted that integral human development is closely linked to the obligations which flow from man’s relationship with the natural environment."

"Can we remain indifferent before the problems associated with such realities as climate change, desertification, the deterioration and loss of productivity in vast agricultural areas, the pollution of rivers and aquifers, the loss of biodiversity, the increase of natural catastrophes and the deforestation of equatorial and tropical regions?"

"Can we disregard the growing phenomenon of “environmental refugees”, people who are forced by the degradation of their natural habitat to forsake it – and often their possessions as well – in order to face the dangers and uncertainties of forced displacement? Can we remain impassive in the face of actual and potential conflicts involving access to natural resources?"

"All these are issues with a profound impact on the exercise of human rights, such as the right to life, food, health and development."

Pope Francis teaches all of the above. Pope Saint John Paul II's teachings also echoed the above.

The Bishops of Oceania have aligned themselves with our above holy Popes.

Pax.

What perplexes me is that some will react similarly - this is a sound byte marathon put forth by those who seemingly are incapable of governing this mystical body yet are worried about the Church's reaction to its environment from the perspective of synodality.

My favorite sound byte: "We learned that the youngest churches in our region have lessons to teach the more established churches about synodality and about maintaining the freshness of the encounter of the Gospel with local cultures and societies." Evidently, the rest of us just need to get with the times as its all about being "fresh".

Then, there are others who embrace it wholeheartedly some with the requisite 3 yards of quotations.

Last, we have the "cultural" Catholics who likely couldn't care less about any of it except to the extent it effects them as part of a progressive electorate.

Increasingly, my feeling is that synodality will be a lot of talk resulting in a lot of documents that will do little to advance the actual mission of the Church, the salvation of souls. I say this despite the engagement of the Eastern Churches in what's been to me a poorly constructed and orchestrated process. Part of me thinks its really just a ruse to achieve other social and political aims. It also makes me wonder how we, the actual membership and those who claim "cultural membership" in aggregrate "the Church" are so painfully misaligned?

Am I the only one who feels queasy looking at these boomers sitting in a circle, holding hands, and dressed like Moonies? Where do people find the time to act like ninnies? They should be weekend warrioring their homes, washing, cleaning, shopping and paying their taxes.

ByzRus,

You are not alone - I posted the first comment here and was being sarcastic. I rather feel sorry for these folks.
