I continue to believe that the wild card in our times, the truly revolutionary force, the God of surprises is that Pope Emeritus XVI is still living to see first hand how his papacy and that of Pope St. John Paul II are being erased in order to move forward again from 1978. It’s almost like a good movie, “Back to the Future” but in this case we go back to 1978, murder Joseph Ratzinger and John Paul II and erase the ensuing years and return in 2013 as though only one year had passed.
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI can stop it all and bring sanctity back to the Church. That is what I call the “wild card.” This will cause an actual schism in the Church. But is that any worse than the apostasy at hand which Cardinal Mueller so eloquently describes as well as Cardinal Koch?
The synod on synod listening sessions have become a joke to support a pre-conceived conclusion, not a new Church, not a different Church, but a Church in apostasy. It can happen, but a remnant of the true Church will remain even if any reigning pope is in apostasy as the gates of hell will not prevail against the true Church. That gives me hope

Orwellian Synodality
There was a strange and ironic ecclesiolatry going on as well since all of the emphasis was upon the Church as the generator of truth, and in this case, new truths, and not on the Church as the preserver of truths that had been gifted to her by God in Revelation.
Pope Francis says many wonderful things but his actions indicate a desire to tack the barque of Peter with the cultural winds instead of against them. And the few bishops that are resistant tend to be easily dismissible traditionalist blunt instruments like Bishop Strickland and Athanasius Schneider whose answer to the crisis seems to be little more than a call to return to the very Tridentine form of the Church that got us into this mess in the first place. As I have said before, lace surplices under fiddleback chasubles can mask just as much lunacy as denim Disney vestments over your Nehru jacket. My point here is that the dynamic within the episcopacy we see today is the same dynamic we saw all those decades ago and we can therefore say that we cannot look to the episcopacy for much help in the current crisis any more than we did then. It is “woke” episcopal insanity to the Left of me and tinfoil hat wingnuts to the Right of me. And so by all means, let’s have a synod with these folks leading the way.

Ahas penned several hit pieces against Pope Francis.
Among Larry Chapp's hateful claims is that Pope Francis had "rigged" the Synod on the Family via the presence of "unbelievers"...also, Mr. Chapp denounced Amoris Laetitia.
Conversely, such leading Churchmen as Cardinal Burke, Cardinal Müller, Cardinal Sarah, Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop Cordileone, Bishop Schneider, Bishops of Poland...each Catholic Diocese, as well as Eparchy, on earth, received Amoris Laetitia as a holy, orthodox, Apostolic Exhortation.
Larry Chapp, who has trafficked in nonsense, has waged spiritual war against the Vicar of Christ.
Now, he is on the warpath against the Synodal process/(future) Synod.

Cardinal Koch noted last year that it is imperative that the Church deepen her commitment to Synodality:

Strengthening synodality is "the most important contribution" that the Catholic Church can make to ecumenical dialogue, especially dialogue with the Orthodox, a Vatican cardinal has said.
Writing in the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano on Jan. 18, Cardinal Kurt Koch said:
"Theological and pastoral efforts to build a synodal Church have a profound effect on ecumenism, as Pope Francis emphasizes with the basic principle of ecumenical dialogue, which consists in the exchange of gifts, thanks to which we can learn from each other."
He welcomed Pope Francis' decision to hold a Synod of Bishops in 2022 on the theme of synodality.
"This synod will not only be an important event in the Catholic Church, but it will contain a significant ecumenical message, since synodality is an issue that also moves ecumenism, and moves it in depth," he explained."
He pointed to the 2007 "Declaration of Ravenna," in which Catholic and Orthodox theologians agreed that the bishop of Rome was the "protos," or first among patriarchs, before the separation of East and West.
According to the Swiss cardinal, this was an immensely important step in Catholic-Orthodox dialogue.
"The fact that the two dialogue partners were able to declare together for the first time that the Church is structured synodally at all levels and therefore also at the universal level, and that she needs a protos is an important milestone in Catholic-Orthodox dialogue," he said.
For this step to bear fruit in the future, Koch argued, it is necessary to deepen the relationship between synodality and primacy."
"It is not about reaching a compromise on the lowest common denominator. Rather, the respective strengths of the two ecclesial communities should be brought in," he said.
He said that the Catholic Church "must recognize that in her life and in her ecclesial structures she has not yet developed that degree of synodality which would be theologically possible and necessary" and that "a credible link between the hierarchical and the synodal-community principles would favor the advancement of ecumenical dialogue with orthodoxy."
"The strengthening of synodality must undoubtedly be considered as the most important contribution that the Catholic Church can make to the ecumenical recognition of primacy," he said.

Pope Emeritus Benedict understands who he is. He's not going to intervene. He's not going to leave the church into schism. He's going to be a good Catholic and listen to the pope.
The Tablet, last October, published an article that noted:
"Synodality is not a new concept, a new way of doing things in the Church. Its roots lay in the ministry of the first “followers of the way” as described in the Acts of the Apostles."
Said article also explored the path that is available to a laymen should his or her diocese act in lukewarm fashion in regard to the Synodal process?
The article referenced Pope Benedict XVI's powerful declaration in regard to the laity's important role within Holy Mother Church:
"Co-responsibility requires a change in mentality, particularly with regard to the role of the laity in the Church, who should be considered not as ‘collaborators’ with the clergy, but as persons truly ‘co-responsible’ for the being and activity of the Church.
"It is important, therefore, that a mature and committed laity be united, who are able to make their own specific contribution to the Church’s mission."
Said article also referenced the following from the Synod's handbook (Vademecum 1: 5):
"Religious communities, lay movements, associations of the faithful, and other ecclesial groups are encouraged to participate in the synodal process in the context of the local churches.
"However, it is also possible for them, and for any group or individual that does not have an opportunity to do so at the local level, to contribute directly to the General Secretariat..."

The current Synodal process has received from certain folks that same treatment that had been heaped upon the Synod on the Family.
Bergoglio had rigged the Synod to destroy the Church...shouts of "heresy" abounded...dogmas would be overthrown...The opposite, of course, had occurred.
The Holy Ghost guided our holy Pope during the Synod on the Family. Today, the Holy Ghost will inspire our holy Pope to guide the Synodal Process/Synod to a holy and orthodox conclusion.

Father McDonald, I have read numerous diocesan reports in regard to the listening sessions.
The bishops in said dioceses have been labeled popularly as liberals, moderates, and conservatives. One diocese after another has described in positive fashion, in favor of the Faith, the listening Synodal listening sessions.
Today, I read the listening session report from Archbishop Cordileone's Archdiocese of San Francisco. The report noted:
********* (Contrary to the Pew Research "Real Presence Survey"...More than 75 percent of the listening participants believe in the Real Presence.) ********
"The process was grounded in Prayer and Scripture Prayer (e.g., Adsumus Sancte Spiritus, Prayer to the Holy Spirit and spontaneous prayer) was a cornerstone of the experience."
"In the sessions, people primarily spoke most of Jesus, the riches of the Catholic Faith, and their love for being part of the universal Church.
"They found joy in the living presence of Christ in the Church, in the celebration of the Mass and the universality of the liturgy, in their participation in and the availability of the Sacraments (especially during the pandemic), the gift of Sacred Scripture, and their sense of belonging to a parish community with a common identity"
"These themes were echoed in the survey results, where over 75% of people responded that they agree or strongly agree about belief in the Resurrection, the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, that Scripture is the Word of God, and in Jesus’ moral teachings."
