Many people think that pornography helps a person in their sexual orientation. I wonder if the synod on synods is listening to them!
I am sure the head of the synod on synods from Holland would want to bless porn, those who make a living on it and all those who are assisted in their sexuality by it! It is the logical conclusion to the decadent sexuality the Listening Church wants to embrace.
Pope Francis, though, like an enabling great grandfather, playfully chides young priests and seminarians not to use it, even if it helps them because in the long run it won’t help them, at least at this point in the development of the Church’s teaching on it:

As a man who has raised children and struggled to protect them from a toxic culture, I firmly believe that our entire western culture has become essentially pornographic. Even the once-believed "safe" Disney production machine has sold its soul. Many of the animated films it targets at our young and innocent provide less-than-innocent content and its "tween" and teen-targeted TV shows reek of inappropriate content and references. They even once owned a network that provided pay-per-view porn to hotels and currently own several pornographic streaming services. The content of youth-oriented social media such as Tik-Tok and Instagram are barely regulated and anyone with web access can easily view the slop our children are exposed to daily. A couple of years ago, I asked 9th grade honors students to suggest topics for an essay and one girl raised her hand and said that everyone should write about their "first time", presuming that everyone in that 13-15 year old class was already sexually experienced.
Only God can give us the virtue required to make us into saints in a time like this, because we are not just surrounded by pornography. We are so immersed in it we no longer even recognize it.
Thank you Jerome for your comment and yes it is true and it is a battle of immense proportions. I think the pope, if he would only stick to his text, could make a seamless garment out of pornography, licentiousness, the corruption of children, Venereal disease, unwanted pregnancies, the slaughter of children in the womb, divorce, lbtgq+++ ideology and the complete breakdown of morality in general. But no such connection is made.
Rather he gossips that seminarians, priests and nuns view pornography. While some may well, we don’t need the pope gossiping about it. He might has well have said, bishops and popes do too.
A twitter headline from the BBC this morning states: Pope says nuns view porn!”
Pope Francis is a total embarrasment and should stop giving off the cuff remarks.
I am old enough to remember when Democrats were against pornography, I recall Tipper Gore leading the charge. Of course that has all changed. They now push drag queen parties for little children and are promoting gender nonsense even down to the Kindergarten level. I doubt many priests talk about that to their congregations. Maybe Pope Francis should comment on that, rather than speculating about the clergy's viewing habits.
