Yesterday, on your blog, I responded to your reference to then-Cardinal Ratzinger's "fabricated, banal" comment in question.
I have long wondered as to the context of his comment. Did he direct his remark at the Holy Mass of Pope Saint Paul VI?. Or at priests and liturgical committees who had concocted fabricated, banal liturgies?
Therefore, I searched the internet to determine whether Pope Emeritus had explained his comment in question.

Or at Paul VI who entrusted Consilium with the reform of the official books? Or at the Second Vatican Council itself in Sacrosanctum Concilium?"
Not surprisingly, the comments soon veered into many directions.
But I found one comment after another interesting.
One thing is certain: At least in regard to many of those who commented, Pope Benedict XVI was a very polarizing figure. (He was not to me...or to the overwhelming amount of Catholics who loved and respected him...and continue to do so.)
By the way, the discussion did not settle the question as to the context of the "fabrication, banal..." comment.
