ROCCO PALMA SAYS +WINSKI OF MIAMI RIPS INTRA CHURCH FIGHTS OVER BIDEN’S CATHOLICITY—SEEMS TO ME ROCCO READS +WINSKI’S LETTER THROUGH A CORRUPT CATHOLIC LENS

My comment first: Not to call out Catholic corruption, wherever it is, think McCarrick/Biden, leads the Church to many McCarrick/Biden moments in the Church. Catholics living or promoting sex abuse/abuse of power/infanticide need to be called out and called to repentance. Corruption is a mortal sin.

Catholic teachings can bridge our Archbishop Wenski's column for November 2020 edition of the Florida Catholic

The Irish novelist, James Joyce, once described the Catholic Church as “here comes everybody” — he didn’t mean it as a compliment. But the Church does welcome everybody — saint and sinner, rich and poor, the learned and the unlettered. As Catholics we should not get caught up in internecine arguments about “who is too Catholic” and “who is not Catholic enough.” In any case, Jesus will sort it out on Judgment Day. In the meantime, every baptized Catholic can call himself or herself a “practicing Catholic” because this life is our one chance to practice the faith until we get it right. And, because we all are sinners, we all must practice very hard.

Father, in all fairness...

Many of us resent the characterization of Biden as a "Catholic" because he, at least according to all appearances, does not live a particularly Catholic life, does not hold Catholic positions and takes many positions absolutely contrary to the Catholic faith. So when the media canonizes him as the "Second Catholic President", it is very unsettling to say the least, because many of us do not want THAT kind of person representing us to the American public.

So all of this sit back and "let Jesus sort it out on Judgment Day" sounds nice on paper, but ignores the fact there is SERIOUS damage being done to the Catholic identity in America and at a time when we can least afford to have it damaged any more.

Tom Marcus,

The bishops bear the bulk of the responsibility for creatures like Biden getting away with marketing himself as a Catholic.

Keep in mind Vatican City is a nation and the pope a head of state. Thus all popes have a political role especially with other heads of state. This created difficulties with Hitler, Mussolini and other dictators of various ills as well as democratically elected leaders.

Rocco always writes as a progressive hyperactive sportscaster, same as Allen at Crux writes as a progressive political analyst. Rocco's glowing praise of McCarrick was the cause of Palma's site being down a good long time.
I read both every once in a great while only to see what is the latest/greatest progressive sales pitch with which to deal.
