BOMBSHELL! MOST REVEREND STEPHEN PARKES, BISHOP OF SAVANNAH, IS THE FIRST BISHOP IN 50 YEARS, SINCE THE PROMULGATION OF THE “FABRICATED” 1970 ROMAN MISSAL (POPE BENEDICT’S CRITIQUE) TO PRESIDE AT THE ANCIENT USAGE ROMAN MISSAL MASS IN HIS OWN CATHEDRAL!

God willing, one day His Excellency will be celebrant at an EF SOLEMN SUNG MASS, at the high altar, the second such in 50 years, I, your most humble blogger, the first in 50 years to use that misused altar to celebrate a Solemn Sung High Mass on it!

More to come...

Father the cathedral was backed today and I feel that the Bishop was shocked by the crowd of faithful. He needs to learn Latin like yesterday.

Bugnini Novus Ordo is dead.

This will sadden priests like Father Kavanaugh. This is the future of the Roman Church

Father this a great thing, your bishop presiding at an EF Mass. Maybe one day he will be able to celebrate a Solemn Pontifical High Mass. I was fortunate enough to be present at two of them a few years ago. They were something to behold.

I have to say I am somewhat scandalized by the lack of masks and social distancing of your attendees. Please try to be more mindful of those most vulnerable in the community.

Regards

There's hope for this bishop (and this diocese) yet!

Could anyone here picture Boland or Hartmayer doing this?

It was Divine! So beautiful! God is so good to us! I offer my daily Rosary for Bishop Parkes. I was brought to tears today seeing all the people, and so many ladies and young girls veiled. So thankful for His Excellency’s support. Deo Gratias! Ave Maria!

I was a little freaked out by that as well. At the very least Monsignor O'Neil should have been afforded some protection with a mask. I would put him in the high risk category.

(Although if COVID dared to cross him he would probably lose his temper and scream loud enough to scare it away!) :)

To now let your servant go in peace"

Picking on your former bishops, eh?

Maybe. Or maybe just using them as a measure of progress.

Some of us are just exhausted by the New Mass, the New Evangelization, Accompaniment, Ecumenism and all the rest of the postconciliar benchmarks of a "renewal" that have decimated the Church. Previous bishops mentioned weren't necessarily bad men. What they were was status quo. We are way beyond the need for any more of that.

Way beyond.

I thought Anonymous K would have weighed in by now with a bitter comment or maybe he is brushing up on his Latin! One can hope
