THE ROLE OF THE CLERGY IN THE FACE OF DEMONIC EVIL AND VIOLENCE IS NOT PARTISAN POLITICS BUT SPIRITUAL AND MORAL ISSUES AND THE PROCLAMATION OF SALVATION IN THE FACE OF ALL THE EVIL DISORDERS OF THE WORLD AND ITS DEMONS…

All the talking heads, especially political ones, are grandstanding for their political point of view as it concerns the tragedy at Annunciation School. Certainly laws are needed to curtail and censor the various medias’ ability to radicalize the young and vulnerable in violent and godless ideologies. Certainly common sense approach to the gun culture in this country is needed with certain military weapons outlawed for the general public.

Clergy, of course, should focus on the spiritual and moral issues involved and what radicalizes the mentally ill and mentally weak to embrace satanic ideologies spewed forth in the media, traditional and otherwise, as it concerns sexual immorality and its various disorders as well as violence and hatred. The Church must also point to Jesus who alone saves us from the disorders in this world. More often than not, the salvation of Jesus takes place outside of this world’s time and place. It occurs after our earthly course is completed, no matter how we die, in the life that only Jesus makes possible for us in heaven, only Jesus!

And adolescent young people seduced by the various sexual and godless ideologies out there, are enabled by general society in their sick choices rather than offering them therapy for their mental and sexual confusion. All of these mass shooters are mentally imbalanced in some way and radicalized not by the Gospel, not by the faith and morals of Jesus and His Church but by various communities that want validation for their godless ways.

Msgr. Rossetti is well known by the Catholic clergy and hits the nail on the head. He is a priest-psychiatrist and has treated Catholic priests for their various disorders which have caused such harm to the people of God.

You can hear what he has to say about what happened at Annunciation School and other mass killings by pressing the short Facebook video HERE

You conflate Partisan Politics and the Proclamation of Gospel/Moral Values.

Are the bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Atlanta too "partisan" or too "political" in their statement from June 2023 on guns and gun violence?

“There have been more than 200 mass shootings and more than 9,000 suicides by gun in the United States in 2023 alone. We have had to collectively mourn the deaths of nearly 700 children. The grim reality of gun violence has become part of the very
fabric of our daily lives.
“In the face of so much needless and seemingly endless bloodshed, it is tempting to fall into hopelessness and despair for our future. Our faith, however, does not allow us to do so. It demands not only that we cling to hope, but that we also take the necessary action to bring about a just and peaceful world. It demands that we take action to protect human life and put an end to the violence.
“The Gospel calls us in a particular way to protect the most vulnerable among us.
The ready accessibility of firearms presents an immediate threat to the wellbeing of children, families impacted by domestic violence and individuals experiencing mental illness. Our first priority must therefore be to prevent firearms from falling into the hands of those who would carry out violent acts against children in schools, against their families or against themselves.
“We, the bishops of the Roman Catholic Ecclesiastical Province of Atlanta, call on the federal and state elected officials of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina to take decisive action to implement meaningful legislation addressing the plague of gun
violence we face nationwide and at home in our local communities. As legislators, you are in a unique position to support and promote public policy that will save lives.
“In line with the measures consistently called for by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, public officials must put into place these commonsense reforms:
• A total ban on assault weapons.
• Universal background checks for all gun purchases.
• Limitations on civilian access to high-capacity weapons and ammunition magazines.
• Improved access to and increased resources for mental health care and earlier interventions.
• Regulations and limitations on the purchasing of handguns.
• Require gun owners to provide safe storage and report lost and stolen guns.
“We cannot and will not stand by and silently accept that tens of thousands of people dying by gun violence each year is simply part of life in the United States. Nor can we accept excuses from political leaders that there is nothing that can be done. To do
nothing is to be complicit in the violence.
“We once again urge the elected officials of our three states to enact commonsense gun safety legislation, while we as faith leaders commit to the promotion of mercy and
peacebuilding through our Church’s social teachings and restorative justice practices. Together, we can foster resilient communities that would resort not to violence but to
dialogue to resolve differences and promote peaceful conflict resolution.
“We look forward to being partners in building that future.”

Re: Msgr. Rossetti:
Canada has people with psychological conditions and has had 25 die in mass shootings in the 21st century.
Japan has people with isolation problems and has had 15 die in mass shootings in the 21st century.
Germany has people with narcissism and has had 53 die in mass shootings in the 21st century.
France has people with anger issues and has had 130 people die in mass shootings in the 21st century.
The USA has all of the above, too, but has had 3,392 people die in mass shootings in the 21st century.

The difference: The Easy Accessibility of Guns and Ammunition in the USA.

I suspect there IS demonic at play. It is in the legislators who cower behind the Second Amendment and their fear of Trump and refuse to enact the commonsense restrictions called for by the bishops of the ecclesial province of Atlanta.

Maybe when Christendom was the fact over 1,000 years ago, what bishops demanded in the political realm for come about. Christendom no longer exists and politics in this country are divided on many levels and politicians can’t follow through on what they have proposed for the last 30 years about gun control. I don’t disagree one bit with the bishops of our province, but I wish they would have included a demand for the censorship and curtailment of the depiction of violence and death in movies, television (traditional broadcast) and now, the more pernicious all the various media platforms on the World Wide Web and the dark web, which radicalize the disordered young and old. And while we are at it, let’s demand that children and adolescents not be allowed any kind of “gender change” until they can make an adult decision about it, at age 21 the same age when they can lawfully drink (as though they don’t drink before that. And let’s curtail the use of butcher knives, especially used as weapons at war, automobiles and trucks used to mow down people and poisons. And while we are at it let’s create a legal culture of life rather than death, outlawing abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, the death penalty and war and let’s outlaw weapons of mass destruction and war. I think that about covers it.
As for me and my household, we will follow the Lord in this broken, disordered and dysfunctional world, with our eyes set on heaven when all that is redeemed.

Automobiles and truck must be registered. Guns, not so much.

Automobiles and trucks must have a licensed driver who has passed a test. Guns, not so much.

Automobiles and trucks are taxed annually. Guns, not so much.

Automobiles and trucks must be covered by liability insurance. Guns, not so much.

The sake of an automobile or truck is tracked by the transfer of a title. Guns, not so much.

Your "Unless we fix everything we can't fix anything" is nonsense. It is the fallacy expressed by Voltaire: "The best is the enemy of the good." If we can't act without the best results, we fail by inaction, delays, missed opportunities.

Is it intrinsic evil to support gun control?

Fr. Michael J. Kavanaugh said...

big - If you haven't been around this part of the blogosphere long, then you might have missed TJM's constant lie that I am a supporter of a variety of intrinsic evils and that I consider abortion to be healthcare.

TJM is lying when he says this and he knows it. Good Fr. ALLAN McDonald has corrected TJM on this point, but he might as well be spitting into the wind.

I know too well TJM’s antics and think Fr McD should not allow him to publish such unsubstantiated and inflammatory comments.
