THE LEO EFFECT: POPE LEO XIV WRITES A LETTER TO CARDINAL GRECH AND IT’S WRITTEN IN LATIN!

How many letters did Pope Francis write in Latin?

From Vatican News:

In a letter to Cardinal Grech on the 9th of August, Pope Leo reflected on the Virgin Mary's role in salvation history, describing her as “predestined and appointed by God above every creature as an advocate of grace and a model of holiness.” Writing in Latin, the Pope said that the feast would be an occasion for the Church to lovingly contemplate her Assumption and adorn her images with crowns of gold and precious stones as a sign of faith and love for God.

No one cares about his use of Latin, until he restores the free use of the TLM. No one cares how he dresses until he ends the Lavender Mafia. As long as he continues the policies of his predecessor, he is just eye-candy.

A papacy isn’t built overnight, but need I remind you that Catholicism is sacramental and what you call eye candy, a crass word for the sacramentality of outward sacramental signs, has significance for the direction of this papacy. 🧱 by 🧱

I once worked for a very wise man who said that when a new leader takes over, he should spend his first year observing an organization and not be hasty to implement changes unless he sees criminal activity. Perhaps Pope Leo is doing just that, observing and waiting until the time is right.

A wise leader, unless circumstances are dire and alternatives non-existent, does not scorched earth upon arrival. He observes and listens, sees what is working and was is not, needed resources and consequences of acting one way or another.

I'm sure Leo is doing just that and will, perhaps, begin implementing change in the fall at a pace that isn't disruptive to the whole. The only exception would be rectifying injustice to the part where the whole will just have to understand, achieve acceptance and adjust accordingly.

Perhaps his MC will change. One could observe they aren't on the same page.

Perhaps the TLM will again become a normative option.

Perhaps the SSPX will have some olive branch regarding their episcopal needs extended.

Perhaps the German Bishop's Conference will receive guidance and encouragement.

Time will tell.

Pope Leo is holding his cards pretty close to his chest. So far, no major interviews on this, that or the other, which him blabbing about this, that or the other by way of off-the-cuff statements. I’ve heard him answer questions from Catholics when he was a cardinal visiting a Augustinian parish there in Jolliet. He is very articulate and clear and no flubs in his answers. He speaks about unity in the Church and certainly that sentiment comes from the grotesque polarization Pope Francis caused with his loose tongue, TC, FS and a footnote in an encyclical that was otherwise very good, concerning Holy Communion to people in irregular sexual unions, disordered or not.
