POPE LEO EFFECT BOMBSHELL OR IS IT A FIRECRACKEER? EITHER WAY POPE LEO XIV ALLOWS SSPX TO CELEBRATE THE JUBILEE IN ROME

NOW THAT’S A MITER!

The Catholic Herald is reporting this bombshell/firecracker. Given the Liturgy Wars that Pope Francis reignited as well as the polarization in the Church that JPII and Benedict XVI diffused, I would say this is significant, very significant! Pope Leo XIV is the pope to recover the unity of the Church highly disturbed for the last 12 years.

The Vatican’s official Jubilee 2025 calendar is currently listing a pilgrimage by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (SSPX), with the occasion marking a rare moment of visible accord following long-running tensions between SSPX and the Vatican.

According to the SSPX website for Great Britain, the pilgrimage on 21 August will include a public Rosary at Colle Oppio, a Solemn High Mass at 9.30 a.m., and a procession entering the Holy Door of the Archbasilica of St John Lateran.

I have always written that Pope Francis’ recovery of 1970’s polarization and division in the Church, caused not by those who conserve the faith and morals of the Church by promoting the fundamentals of the Church’s faith and morals, but rather by the heterodox left, has been a blessing in disguise because it gave at least two generations of Catholics who did not experience the heterodox left’s 1970’s polarization in the Church a sour taste of it under Pope Francis. And having tasted it, they want nothing to do with it.

Just as being conservative and fundamentalist is a good thing, we need to redefine progressive and liberal in an orthodox way. We must progressively embrace the Deposit of Faith and Morals of the Church by liberally applying our Faith and Morals to our personal lives. That’s true progressive liberalism!

Well said Father McDonald! Having suffered through the liturgical wars of the 1960s and 1970s, St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict's papacy were a welcome relief. I suspect we are returning to liturgical peace after the cruel Francis years.

Well the SSPX pilgrimage has been removed from the Vatican list of Jubilee events so the honeymoon was short lived!

Their part is over, there are no future events for them in Rome and besides they are in a canonical irregular situation. They and you should be happy their events now concluded were advertised beforehand by the Vatican, despite tc.
