This is a bit of a "no s#!_" moment, no? Just someone having the guts to put pen to paper.
Curiously, what is being represented on your masthead? I don't dislike it. I'm guessing it's the Holy Family from a South American native perspective? I don't believe there to be any right or wrong with these depictions, Lord knows the Holy Family didn't look like the pastel glory familiar to Western Europeans. Sometimes, it is just more difficult from a European perspective to recognize without a little help, that's all.

I wonder as to whether Archbishop Emeritus Chaput based his above comment upon the discredited Pew Research survey that claimed that only about 33 percent of United States Catholics (I guess Western Church) believe in the Real Presence.

"...only 1,835 “Catholics” actually participated in the 2019 Pew poll...they include non-practicing Catholics who never go to Church; those who quit the Church; and others who were baptized and never catechized. The headline says, “Catholics,” but it includes many with no relationship to the Church and many that may not be interested in learning what the Church actually believes."
Anyway, among the good news is that diocese upon diocese, via information gathered during Synodal listening sessions, reported overwhelming belief in the Real Presence.
One Synodal listening session report after another placed belief in the Real Presence at about 75 percent.

+Chaput is on target. It is a shame that his is almost a lone voice among the bishops.
Speaking humanly, I question as to whether there is any way to move President Biden from his pro-abortion stance. It is clear that there is not any pro-life argument/information that would convince President Biden as to the abominable nature of abortion.
In regard to the Divine...I am convinced that not even his excommunication would move President Biden away from his pro-abortion stance.
But as he is a child of God, we should treat President Biden charitably. I pray that President Biden will embrace the Culture of Life, rather than Satan's Culture of Death.

Many folks via the internet/twitter have dismissed Archbishop Emeritus Chaput's comments about President Biden as the ramblings of a right-wing, "traditionalist" extremist.
It is one thing to reject his comments in question. But I believe that it's important not to dismiss Archbishop Emeritus Chaput's comments as those of a supposed right-wing, "traditionalist" extremist.
There are examples that denote that Archbishop Emeritus Chaput is not a "traditionalist" reactionary fanatic.
-- Via an article that he had penned for First Things, Archbishop Chaput favored the Holy Mass of Pope Saint Paul VI to that of the TLM.
Archbishop Chaput declared that "the Novus Ordo, the new order of the Mass promulgated after the council, has been a great blessing to the Church. Our liturgy gives us the zeal for the evangelization and sanctification of our world. The vernacular has opened up the liturgy’s content in new ways. It has encouraged active, creative participation by all the faithful”not only in the liturgy but in every aspect of the Church’s mission..."
"...in fact I find the Novus Ordo, properly celebrated, a much richer expression of worship..."
-- Archbishop Chaput has praised Pope Francis as a solid, orthodox teacher of the Faith.

None of the above declarations would come from a right-wing fanatic.
The Remnant denounced Archbishop Chaput...and included him among "Foolish Bishops and Bishops Playing Us For Fools"...as the result of the Archbishop's refusal to have marched in lockstep with nonsense espoused by right-wing, "traditional" Catholics.
That alone would suggest that it's not a solid idea to dismiss Archbishop Emeritus Chaput as a right-wing fanatic.

Since the 1970's we've had to stomach countless "Catholic" politicians and public figures who invoke the Church as part of their identity when it suits their purposes, but publicly flaunt the demands of the faith, trading it in for political success. In that respect, Joe Biden is just another garden-variety Catholic in name only.
I guess I've almost become numb to this phenomenon, because we all know that the people who SHOULD do something about it simply are not going to.
Far more concerning to me is that you could point at the blue sky and Biden would disgustedly denounce your partisanship and insist that it was red. At this point, with the constant physical and verbal blunders, non-sequiturs and other symptoms of dementia, our "president" is a laughingstock among world leaders. Joe Biden is not in communion with reality.
The challenge presented by the abortion issue for any Catholic who pursues public office Is how to execute the office while remaining true to the Faith. The litmus test of that issue clouds all other, and often more pertinent issues, for that public servant. In addition, the position of being against abortion is often not well thought out, leaving the politician very vulnerable to accusations of forcing religious views on our law. Emotional responses destroy the debate and leave the public unconverted and stuck with deciding votes on the most memorable emotions from the debate, leaving this important policy vulnerable to political breezes and the much larger problem unaddressed and unsolved.

In regard to Archbishop Emeritus Chaput's comments about President Biden:
The negative responses on the internet/twitter to the Archbishop have been shallow...at least the responses that I have read.
Again, he has been dismissed as a right-wing crank. But as I noted yesterday, he has rejected several key issues that the right-wing has espoused.
There are additional right-wing key issues that Archbishop Emeritus Chaput has rejected.
For example, Archbishop Emeritus Chaput has, in strong terms, rejected the death penalty.
He declared in 2019 A.D:
"In Genesis 4:10-16, humanity's first murderer -- Cain, the man who brought bloodletting into the world -- was spared by the God of justice.".
"But the same needle that poisons the killer in every [execution] also poisons us as a culture. Repaying cruelty with cruelty does not equate to justice. Killing persons in the name of justice is needless and wrong. We need to abolish the death penalty now."
Archbishop Emeritus Chaput has been a strong defender and promoter of the Church's teachings in regard to immigration...teachings that more than a few right-wingers have despised.
In regard to issue upon issue, Archbishop Emeritus Chaput has stood in opposition to right-wingers.
The notion that Archbishop Emeritus Chaput is a right-wing fanatic is nonsense.
But the Archbishop's critics have portrayed him as such...so as to dismiss, in shallow fashion, his comments in question.
Anyway, it is clear that President Biden has sold himself to abortion racketters.

I seem to remember that when Francis was first pope, he publicly complained about Chaput being an "idealogue" in an interview--or maybe it was a private conversation that one of his bishops or journalist later recounted. Either way, the source made it pretty clear that Pope Francis didn't have much use for Chaput. To his credit, Chaput has never spoken ill of the pope, even though he was passed over for becoming a cardinal. When FRANCIS complains about ideology, you can bet it isn't the LEFTIST ideology he's complaining about.
As I look at the caliber of cardinals this pope HAS appointed and compare them to Chaput, well, I suppose I should just laugh--otherwise I'd cry.
I think it says a lot about Biden's key staffers and minders that they very recently arranged for a bizarre and extreme trans activist Dylan Mulvaney (a 25 year old male actor who over a 100 days on Tik Tok has recorded his insane "transition to girlhood" - not womanhood) to meet and interview Joe Biden in the White House.
In this interview Biden defended child trans surgery.
Biden said it is IMMORAL for certain state politicians in the USA to do what many politicians in the UK and Europe are now doing (eg see the closure of the Tavistock Clinic in the UK) ie: to attempt to stop or restrict surgical intervention on minors with gender dysphoria...

In 500 to a 1000 years from now when academics and historians are discussing the reasons or causes of the decline and fall of the USA I think they will point at such incidents like the above.

As I was reading through these comments, I was thinking about the immense challenge faced by a Catholic president in a pluralistic liberal democracy in which the Constitution prohibits the establishment of religion by government and guarantees the free exercise of religion. And then I read the characteristically wise comment by rcg, who captures the problem very well.
It may be worth revisiting then candidate for President John F. Kennedy’s speech on the matter, (September 12, 1960) in a society that was much less pluralistic than today’s:

That speech contains the following passage:
“Whatever issue may come before me as president — on birth control, divorce, censorship, gambling or any other subject — I will make my decision in accordance with these views, in accordance with what my conscience tells me to be the national interest, and without regard to outside religious pressures or dictates. And no power or threat of punishment could cause me to decide otherwise.
But if the time should ever come — and I do not concede any conflict to be even remotely possible — when my office would require me to either violate my conscience or violate the national interest, then I would resign the office; and I hope any conscientious public servant would do the same.”
So, if Biden genuinely thinks it is in the national interest to guarantee a legal right to abortion but if it violates his conscience for him to seek to do so, perhaps he should resign. Leaving us, of course, with President Harris.
Isn’t the question for all of us to consider: What would I do in Biden’s position? What are the alternatives—Work to impose a legal ban on abortion? Work to guarantee a continued national legal right to abortion? Urge that the matter be left to the states? Resign as president? Something else?

Opposing the Death Penalty and supporting immigration are positions any Catholic(traditional, right-wing or otherwise) can hold and still be true to what the Church teaches. Both those issues do involve prudential considerations however, which is more than you can say for supporting abortion, the promoting of and participation in transgenderism, including surgery on children, same sex marriage, and embryonic stem cell research.

Unless I am reading this wrong, it appears that Mr. Thomas has made the fatal error of presuming that the degenerative delawarian is sincere in his remarks to the public and the press. That is a serious error because
A) He is a professional politician and he has been one for decades. Anyone practiced in that craft for that long has a tenuous (at best) relationship with the truth.
B) His record speaks for itself. He will say anything at any time to tickle the ears of whomever is listening.
To actually assume that someone with such a background is sincere, in earnest or truthful is, at best, naive, at worst, just plain foolish.

I have made it clear for years on Father McDonald's blog that, in my opinion, Mister Biden has sold himself to powerful interests — such as abortion racketeers, as well as the Homosexual Lobby — who promote Satan's Culture of Death.

In fairness to him, I have noted also over the years that Mister Biden has supported positive initiatives to benefit society. He has referenced the influence of the Faith in regard to his promotion of such initiatives.
Unfortunately, Mister Biden has refused to allow Holy Mother Church to have guided him in regard to his stances related to abortion and homosexuality. In regard to those issues, Joe Biden has sold himself to those who promote Satan's Culture of Death.

Mark, If Biden deeply believes that abortion is wrong, but he genuinely thinks it is in the national interest to guarantee a legal right to it, then I would expect his actions and words to reflect this tension. I would expect him to lead in seeking to make abortions rare. I would expect him to advocate for restrictions that most Americans support. He could be a unifying figure on this issue. Instead, he advocates for abortion policies that reflect the extreme positions of the Democratic Party and uses divisive rhetoric. “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards, backwards to an America where there is no right to choose”
The president's dishonesty and opportunism become all to obvious when, two years later, we read the words of his inaugural address:
"To all those who did not support us, let me say this: Hear me out as we move forward. Take a measure of me and my heart. And if you still disagree, so be it. That’s democracy. That’s America. The right to dissent peaceably, within the guardrails of our Republic, is perhaps our nation’s greatest strength. Yet hear me clearly: Disagreement must not lead to disunion. And I pledge this to you: I will be a President for all Americans. I will fight as hard for those who did not support me as for those who did."
That's what he SAID. We all know what he DID: He has demonized his opponents at ever opportunity (kind of like a certain pope), he had weaponized the justice department to punish his political opponents and created more division than ever before. So much for Lincoln's "with malice toward none and charity toward all."
We used to live in a time when political candidates of both parties expressed respect for those who disagreed with them. There was an implied invitation to find consensus on issue for which we could agree and focus on that. Not anymore. Now, if you're not on board with us, you're evil. You're unpatriotic. You deserve every bad thing that happens to you. And maybe, you might just get that knock at your door.
Bottom line, Biden's dishonesty isn't the elephant in the room. It's the wrecking ball taking the house down.
