YES, BUT AND UGH!

Overall? I hate it! Is it an improvement, maybe yes, maybe no but mostly ugh! And does a florist own this church? I like flowers, but and ugh!

Before:

After:

There we go again! Two dang altars, one in front of the other restored! And to make matters worse and draw more attention to the two altars, let’s make it two different sanctuaries! Let’s move the altar railing behind the new altar and higher than the new altar so it is seen better. What the????

And then let’s put a staircase with hand rails leading to the altar-table. That’s a great idea, let’s highlight the stairs.

And then for major solemnities, let’s hide everything with flowers here, there and everywhere! Wonderful!

Alright, I acknowledge I am cynical and sarcastic, but how can’t I be?????

They tried and failed. Is there no oversight about these kinds of renovations?

from the arch back it is beautiful. From there forward who in the blazes was in charge, it's a disaster. Side altars and the body of the church is wonderful, even the ceiling, but the altar rail and second sanctuary is BAD. BTW what is their florist bill?

I'm not going to be critical of their floral display. Perhaps a bit much for some, but, when you compare this to what isn't done at other parishes, some of the utterly stupid things/bow explosions imposed on the masses at others by the "Art and Environment Committee", the senseless fasting from candles and incense at yet others and the uninspiring dead branches/sand done by still more, the corn/potatoes/hay/cornucopia piled before altars on Thanksgiving by, God help up, even more, their flower explosion is the least of the Church's problems. At least it's cohesive and balanced. Odd, we'll ruminate over their flowers, half of which will be dead in 5-8 days, yet, at Christmas, we'll get in our cars and drive miles to ooh and ahh at someone's over-the-top Clark Griswold light display.

The above said, I'm having a deja vu moment here. Have we seen this church renovation before? Seems familiar. I agree, the multiple sanctuaries is odd. Perhaps there's an explanation for why someone felt this to be necessary. Perhaps this was yet another stupid whim of some liturgical deep thinker creating that "necessary" separation between viaticum and consecrated at a particular mass. To me, the high altar is NOT the problem here. BTW, the statuary and rays in the apse are stunning.
