THE NEW NEO-SANCTIMONY OF THE ADHERENTS OF THE NEW SELF-RIGHTEOUS NEO-FUNDAMENTALIST RELIGION OF THE DICTATORS OF MASK WEARING

Covid-19 has created a new neo-morality and its corresponding self-righteous, puritanical sanctimony.

What is that, Fr. Allan, you many ask? Well, it is the morality of wearing masks. The neo-preachers of this neo-fundamentalist new religion, use guilt, guilt, guilt, plus manipulation, or is laying a guilt trip on a person, manipulation anyway to shame immoral, non compliant, evil non wearing mask individuals into submission and compliance to the dictators of this new neo-fundamentalist religion.

Apart from the requirement to wear a mask by states or municipalities, not all have made mask wearing a law or requirement. It is left up to the individual to wear the mask. The ones who wear them, should of course, wear masks that prevent them from contracting a contagion and then bringing it to vulnerable persons in their lives.

But that’s not enough, everyone has to wear a mask to make the insecure who go outside in public feel safe.

You would think if masks are effective, that the one wearing the mask would not contract Covid-19 from non mask wearers.

And of course there are a variety of opinions from rocket scientists to medical doctors concerning the effectiveness of masks that are not “medical masks.” Pointing this out gives a brain hemorrhage to those who are the dictators of the advice they have gotten from their favorite expert, contradicting experts notwithstanding.

What do you think of this new neo-fundamentalist religion which uses manipulation, guilt and the fires of hell to force you to wear a mask, whether or not you care about getting Covid-19 while the one wearing the mask willingly, should be protected from the neo-atheists who don’t believe in the new neo-fundamentalist religion whose only moral teaching is “you shall wear a mask”!

And now that the fear-mongers of this neo-religion have their dictators effectively using guilt and manipulation to get everyone to wear a mask, will we be required by these dictators in the future, once Covid-19 passes into the annals of pandemic history,  to wear a mask each and every flu season? Wait and see!

One of the few truly scientific studies (as opposed to computer cartoons based on all modeling assumptions) shows a medical grade surgical mask can be of true use, BUT, samples were NOT taken at back of mask where sneezes and coughs discharge expelled air and those areas handled regularly throughout the day by average open weave imitation mask wearers....medical grade is layers of non-woven cellulose/poly coated to resist moisture AND of proper latent electrical charge so that biologicals cling.
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0843-2

Note, halfway through study they mention the folk who did not cough or sneeze during the 30min sampling period, and they picked up ZERO coronavirus from those people. In short, a mask does no more than a disposable tissue used during a cough or sneeze, except a tissue is then disposed of, while the evermore contaminated mask is handled and handled and dragged everywhere...
precisely as the CDC intuited in original guidance which only was changed in order to provide a huggie blanket so that people would go back to work and prevent an economic meltdown, and no argument from me of that neccessity (of working/NOT the obfuscation) as forcing only the lowest rungs to work to support everybody else is grossly unfair.

But, spend time with sick people or time in places frequented by sick people, and sooner or later you will catch it, mask or not, if areas not frequently sanitized.

Bee here,

Oh Anonymous on August 22, 2020 at 3:00 PM... (sigh) the problem is, in the secular world what is moral to me is not moral to you. In my worldview, it's almost as if people should be expected to do the morally decent thing when a woman gets pregnant...and that would be, if she is not married, to marry the father, and they should live together as a family, the father providing economic and emotional support, and the child should not be aborted....without being "mandated" to...

I'm tempted to disparage you, but I won't, because in my worldview it's not the morally decent thing to do.

God bless.

As an fyi, we went from only 20 cases in town during a shutdown with only essential services open, and so, very little hanging out with others, and the majority wore masks anyhow...

to reopening, lots of hanging out with others and majority of folk wearing masks and had skyrocketing numbers...to the tune of 1:40 have now contracted the virus....

to now a mask mandate three weeks back and no essential change in infection rates past what one would expect by most everybody at work has already caught and/or passed it on to those with whom they normally interact, whether at a fast food joint, restaurant, grocery store or office.

Those of us who do not wear a mask for medical reasons, minimize time spent anywhere to only fast trips for neccessities, still eschew cooked food and plates/containers handled by strangers, and who sanitize hands and any items brought from outside, along with anything touched (keys/cards/etc) before ever placing even in car, have yet to catch this virus, and likely will not ever.

Again, Sweden, a socialist country, should be the model for all this:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8644117/Swedens-coronavirus-expert-warns-wearing-masks-dangerous.html

Sweden, unlike other countries, humbly admits that it made a mistake in not protecting quickly enough the vulnerable in nursing homes at the beginning of this infection spread, which is where most of the deaths occurred.

Meant to add to non-mask-wearing by neccessity, but following original CDC guidance quite strictly, and so staying well, while mask wearers falling ill in droves, all around....

Is that as Father noted in original post, all the folk wearing the same dirty mask all day while donning/doffing and generally zero disposing, and them NOT rigorously sanitizing hands before or after touching mask, nor truly sanitizing anything else the entire day, and not hesitating to eat off containers/plates sitting out in open stacks and handled by others....

As those people fall in droves, they glare at me during my less than 10 mins in a grocery store every week and half, and all other of my activity is all outdoors and away from others...and they just KNOW I am the one killing everybody else...

Even though with damaged lungs, own autoimmune system waging war on own body already, and with high blood pressure, as well, and it a fairly good bet a good whiff of this would kill me. A small whiff, as with most biologicals, is handled by the body, while a good whiff will have virus breeding in too many places and outreproduce numbers of attacking defensive cells...

But, everybody knows it is folk like ME who are causing all the problems and killing everybody....

while, as far as I am concerned, they are all drunk drivers swearing at the pedestrian for being on the sidewalk.

RISE UP! We need a REVOLUTION! We can't be told how to live our lives!

Just because seat belts save lives and prevent injuries to the one who wears them and to others on the road, you CANNOT make we wear..... I don't want to wear..... You mean it might be good for me and for others?..... Oh, hell, I'll wear the damn mask, er, seat belt.

Drivers Ed Kavanaugh,

Arrest priests who attempt to give the common chalice to the faithful spreading disease!

Like one poster said, you are not as sharp as you used to be.

It's better to be locked up in home and in separate rooms from others because that way you don't get the virus or spread it to anyone. But at what cost? and of course, the distinctions between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans want less govenerment in our lives and of course, democrats in a puritanical sort of way, want more government, rules, regulations and all in the name of paternalism/maternalism to create a nanny state of children who are idiots if they don't follow what they are told is good for them and others.

NO THANK YOU!

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

Yes, indeed, let's have the democrats or the republicans tell us how and where and when to celebrate our liturgies, how many people can come and when we should shut down. All in the name of knowing what is good for us, not spiritually or eternally, but here and now. What a crock!

No one's locked up at home in separate rooms.

"But at what cost? and of course, the distinctions between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans want less govenerment in our lives and of course,..."

Wrong. "Under George W. Bush (Republican), who was elected on a platform of fiscal restraint, total federal spending increased in real terms by 53 percent...."

"Under Reagan (Republican) pverall annual spending jumped 22 percent in real terms during Reagan's first term. By comparison, it grew by just 12.5 percent under Bill Clinton and 0.3 percent under Barack Obama (when giving his predecessor full credit for fiscal year 2009, as we do for all departing presidents in this exercise)."

George W. Bush (Republican) "I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system"

"Why Republicans Resist Small Government" (https://nationalinterest.org/feature/why-republicans-resist-small-government-18484)

Try again, Good Father. You've missed the mark again.

Drivers Ed Kavanaugh,

The essence of the modern Dem Party:

Abortion on Demand (You have to get parental consent to have your ear's pierced but no parental consent no matter how young to destroy a human life)

Gay Marriage

Transgender Bathrooms

Illegal Aliens flooding in to mooch off of US taxpayers

Dem stormtroopers (Antifa and BLM) destroying the homes and businesses of Black citizens to "help" them, with no condemnation from Basement Slow Joe or his sidekick, Kamala. At least Clintoon had his "Sister Soulijah" moment.

You are quite the priest supporting all of this!

More Dems wear masks than Repugs. That makes them better people.

Masks: they don’t prevent disease but can greatly reduce the chances of getting a disease if used appropriately. The painful part of the good intentions of the Government is they leave out an awful lot of information about the proper use of masks and may be making things worse. The guilt police are treating masks as totems and good luck charms that also virtue signal our care and concern for those around us. Not wearing a mask is being used as a parametric for a playa’ hata’ worthy of public persecution or even a justifiable beat-down. Alternatively, wearing a mask is perceived by some as the equivalent as wearing an ‘I love Big Brother” t-shirt.

Masks are The haberdasher’s equivalent of tissue paper. Used correctly they are a boon to hygiene. Used incorrectly, they amplify the problem.

Not that it will make any difference or change any minds given our absurd politicization of mask wearing and cultural hyper-individualism but here is the ultra-liberal Wall Street Journal on the issue of mask wearing:

LOL! The WSJ? I cancelled them over 10 years ago as a New York Slimes wannabee! When I told the nice lady why I was cancelling, she whispered unto the phone “ I agree with you!” As you are a faculty lounge lizard who agrees with the suppression of First Amendment Rights you would not understand. Perhaps Alan Dershowitz could enlighten you!

Neo-what?

I do know that Georgia has had twice as many deaths from corona as North Carolina, both states about the same size in population. You may recall that North Carolina's governor, Roy Cooper, wisely would not guarantee to Trump a political convention without social distancing and masks. Oh, how that looks prophetic today.

So, as I listen to the local news here in 30327, there is a case of Covid outbreak at a frat house at Georgia Tech. Not to mention in high schools near 30327. I mean, do you think our parishes should mandate masks and social distancing? Or should we just come in like any other Sunday?

Finally, Atlanta's archbishop, instead of setting arbitrary, changing dates for suspending the Mass obligation, should just suspend it indefinitely. It has already been extended several times, but this is likely to go on for the rest of the year and into 2021. After all, unlike us, the virus is not on a timetable....

I think I am going to stop posting here, and thereby reading anything here, since the only purpose of blogs is opinion and discussion.

However, about the only replies I ever receive is to be accused of being Father Kavanaugh (sp?), and then only able to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person, which I believe St Augustine rated just below rape and pillage in justification, plus, shooting fish in a barrel is plain boring. And I wonder how many other folk trying only to maintain privacy have been run off by the "Kavanaugh Under Every Rock And In My Closet" clown show.

Alan Dershowitz? Don’t make me laugh (or rather cry). IMHO he is a naïve publicity seeker who has convinced himself and others that he is a principled iconoclast. For a damning criticism in early 2020 see

Several years ago, I met Dershowitz. Impressed in some ways, I was repelled in others. He is certainly not someone I would hold up as an ideal to aspiring lawyers.

'A battle of wits with an unarmed person'? Shouldn't that read 'unnamed person'? Privacy can easily be maintained on a blog by adopting a nom de plume and sticking to it. Simply posting as Anonymous or using a pseudonym which changes from week to week only causes confusion and makes meaningful engagement overly difficult. One has to work out which Anonymous is which based on style and content.

Pen-names are an established and respectable literary convention. Anonymous communications are associated with those who cut and paste words and letters from magazines and newspapers (usually for the purposes of blackmail) or those deranged individuals who compose poison-pen letters in green ink.
