BOTH CARDINALS SARAH AND BURKE ENDORSE MASS AD ORIENTEM AND KNEELING FOR HOLY COMMUNION

To me, the endorsements of Cardinals Sarah and Burke as it concerns the Ordinary Form of the Mass being celebrated ad orientem and kneeling to receive the Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ is a no-brainer.

These two things alone will help Catholics who attend Mass to recover the Mystery that is the Mass and the awe and reverence discarded by silly liturgists beginning leading up to Vatican II and then its spirit applied in a haphazard way to the Ordinary Form of the Mass.

It will allow Catholics who seldom attend Mass to sense something important is happening in the sanctuary that they should reconsider their tepid Catholicism.

It will allow seeker, aka, inquirers, as well as visiting non-Catholics to see how awesome and reverent the Catholic Mass is and how reverently the priest and communicants adore and receive the Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ.

It would not take too much to upright the listing ship that is the Church and Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the Ordinary Form.

Why, then, in the Most Holy Name of God and all that is Robert Cardinal Sarah, Prefect for the Congregation of Divine Worship, ignored and marginalized by the papal Magisterium?  Shouldn't a Cardinal from the peripheries, even in the Vatican itself, be empowered to serve the Church as His Eminence office demands?

I dont think there is confusion at all. When the Pope models a traditional posture, ceremony, or even teaching he is displaying an outward appearance only. Inwardly he is thinking and believes whatever he really thinks and believes. His actions and policies commit him to his inner self. So the outward appearance of a traditional priest or Mass is only an outward sign unless you are moved by Faith to worship that way and not merely by an affection for outward trappings. Is the cassock worn as a declaration of affiliation or as a sign of humility? Is the Mass of ages a show of prowess or a scrupulous study and accurate declaration of Faith?

Father the ship is sinking and all we can do is head to the lifeboats. I’m not going down with the novus order ship.

Well Father M. if kneeling for communion is a no-brainer for you, have you made any petition to your bishop to have one installed? It seems like you should set an example--before telling other parishes they should do so, get one installed at your parish first. Installing one would be difficult at my parish because steps are not that wide. And my knees are not what they used to be. I noticed at Atlanta's Greek festival last weekend, they have kneelers in their pews (the cathedral) but still stand for communion...one side note a bit off the topic, when attending the festival last weekend, vendors (such as for food) preferred payment by credit card. I asked why, and one told me basically "cash does not always end up in the right hands." I came across from that exchange thinking "oh no, church folks stealing from the church!" No wonder then that parishes these days embrace electronic giving!
