VATICAN ORDINATION OF NEW BISHOPS IS A SOBER AFFAIR AND EVERY DIOCESE IN THE WORLD SHOULD COPY IT!

I have complained often about the fiasco triumphalism that episcopal, priestly and diaconal ordinations have  become in the Ordinary Form. Usually this triumphalism is associated with the music and instrumentation and in this country the political correctness of trying to get everyone's cultural music into the liturgy. What a mess!

But today's ordination of several bishops by Pope Francis has none of this nonsensical triumphalism. Yes, there is a blend of Italian and Latin but the propers are chanted and also for the various parts of the ordination rite. It is not a coronation by any means.

This ordination is a sober affair and truly acquires the status of noble simplicity so unlike episcopal ordinations in this country!



Now compare the Vatican's way of ordaining bishops to this fiasco in Iowa last week:
