IF THE IMAGE OF THE NAKED PREGNANT WOMAN IS SIMPLY A SYMBOL OF MOTHER EARTH AND THE NEED TO PROTECT HER, SHOULD SHE BE USED IN ANY FORM IN A CATHOLIC RITUAL AND WITHOUT COMMENT AS TO WHY IT IS BEING USED?

Many defending the cultural image of the naked pregnant woman as representing fertility and mother earth seem to think it is quite appropriate to use it in a Catholic sponsored liturgy or para-liturgy.

If so, what images can westerners use, especially we in the good ole USA?

How about our version of Mother Nature?

One of my favorite cultural icons is Mr. Clean! How can we incorporate him into a liturgy of some sort?

The White Knight could certainly be used as a metaphor for cleansing of sin and Holy Baptism:

What's your favorite icon that we can placed in the church for public view and veneration?

So long as we are enriching the Church even more with pagan practices - bring back temple prostitutes.

Dan,

Wasn't "Cardinal" McCarrick a temple prostitute, or was he the john?

We could use the icon that the woman presented to Pope Francis during the Vatican Gardens event. The woman identified the icon as Our Lady of the Amazon.

That is the icon that event organizer, and Synod missionary from Peru, Father Roberto Carrasco Rojas, identified as the Blessed Virgin Mary.

That is the icon that is identified as that of the Blessed Virgin Mary, via a December 15, 2018 A.D. Youtube video by REPAM. REPAM was one of the organizers of the Vatican Gardens event.

That is the icon that Vatican spokesmen have insisted is not pagan.

We could use that icon. But under the following conditions:

That the icon is waterproof...and placed under the protection of Saint Lloyd Bridges, aka Mike Nelson.

:-)

Pax.

I have heard different explanations for the practice but I do think we need to clarify why the American flag is so prominently displayed in Catholic churches. The prominence of Caesar’s flag in God’s house could be sending mixed messages and might even tempt some to idolatry.

The image was an abstracted or stylized design depicting a pregnant woman as an image of fertility and an allegory between motherhood and earth. Should it be in a church sanctuary? No. Can it be placed in a church? What is wrong with having the carving in the narthex accompanied by some pamphlets explaining its reasons for being in the church? What is offensive about learning about another culture ? With everyone screaming idolatry, no one has even mentioned the specifics of Amazon culture. I can’t help but wonder if this synod isn’t exploiting Indian culture to advance a western agenda. I also cannot help but wonder if the bickering about idolatry isn’t tinged with an attitude of western supremacy . My favorite icon for veneration? How about our Lady of Guadalupe

From Lifesite News:

In his new October 17 Vatican News interview, Fr. Suess – who is a professor of missiology in Sao Paolo, Brazil – was asked about the fact that many Catholics were outraged at the display of Pagan ceremonies in the context of the Amazon Synod. He states that “in certain media, there is palpable a certain mood against the synod.” “When during the opening ceremony the Pope picked us and the indigenous up at St. Peter's,” he continued, “there was to be seen also a canoe boat. And then someone wrote that this is a pagan rite.” Inside the canoe was a carved wooden statue that has been the center of controversy that critics say is the “Pachamama” fertility idol.

“So what,” was Suess's personal response. “Even if it would have been a pagan rite, then it is nevertheless a pagan worship of God.”

Interestingly, Vatican News, in its somewhat sloppy transcription of Suess' oral words, omitted here the word “pagan,” claiming Suess said that it is nevertheless a “worship of God.”

Continued Suess: “A rite always has something to do with worship of God. One cannot dismiss the pagan [rite] as nothing. What is pagan? In our big cities, we are not less pagan than those there in the jungle. One should reflect upon this.”

Engaging in projection I see. You just don't like being called by your real name

There you go again (for the umpteenth time) (this so sooooooo tiresome):

#1 in the TJM/Trump playbook – Accuse anyone who disagrees with you about anything of being a supporter of the Abortion Party.

#1A in the TJM/Trump playbook – If they are a college or university or law school professor, throw in a reference to the faculty lounge and reality for good measure.

#2 in the TJM/Trump playbook – Accuse anyone who disagrees with you about anything of engaging in projection.

#2A in the TJM/Trump playbook – Do this especially when engaging in projection yourself.

Master Rule – Whichever tactic is used, above all else make sure it distracts and avoids answering the question or addressing the issue because we know we will lose on the merits.

Anonymoua 2,

Thanks for confirming your personal characteristics and beliefs. When are you moving to Venezuela so you can live in a paradise which embraces your worldview?

Still distracting and refusing to address the issues, I see.
