IS IT A TIME FOR A GENERATIONAL CHANGE IN CATHOLIC POPES AND BISHOPS????

I heard Southbend, Indiana's 38 year old mayor's speech where he threw his hat into the already crowded democratic presidential ring. Mayor Pete, I can't spell his last name, is calling for a generational change in presidential leadership. At 38 he's a millennial.

DOES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH NEED SUCH A  GENERATIONAL CHANGE IN HER LEADERSHIP?

Let's face it, popes and bishops wedded to the spirit of Vatican II triumphalism and narcissistic cult of the personality are responsible for the near destruction of the Catholic Faithful.

Mayor Pete is an icon of secular religion's triumph with young secularists as he had his "husband" Chastain, standing next to him, a potential First Husband with his husband the president at that! I wonder how Hilary feels about that!

Would Catholic Millenials as pope and bishops, in their late 30's and 40's be a good thing? Would these new popes and bishops know first hand what the stupid implementation of the spirit of Vatican II has done to the Catholic Faithful? Do these Millenials formed by Cardinal Ratzinger know there has been a grotesque deformation in the Church's liturgical, sacramental, doctrinal and moral life, leading to a grotesque deformation of the true identity of Jesus Christ, His institutional Church and the clergy, religious and laity?

CAN A GENERATIONAL CHANGE IN CATHOLICISM'S LEADERSHIP MAKE THE CHURCH CATHOLIC AGAIN?

And after the Melenials, this young generation will make Catholics Catholic again!

Nope. It's Chasten.

I don’t think there is anything chasten about him. My name for him is Chastain as in Chastain Park. If I can name my gender I can name him.

Here's what you need to know about Mayor Pete:

The fact that a guy who is member of the Infanticide and Gay Marriage Party would question anyone's Christian Faith is beyond reprehensible.

I grew up in South Bend and anyone, including Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin, would get elected if they had a "D" after their name on the ballot.

A-non, you are a true penance; thank you for providing that service here. After all, being An Auto-correct can’t possibly fill all those vacant hours of your day...

When I see the priests at the Oxford Oratory, with their sound preaching and impeccable liturgy, be it in the new rite or the older one, I am astonished at how young they are. Yesterday, at the EF Solemn Mass at the Birmingham Oratory the subdeacon looked about 18.

The new crop of bishops, which includes an Oratorian, Robert Byrne, recently appointed to an important diocese in the north east of England, are noticeably more tolerant of tradition than were their immediate predecessors. Marcus Stock, appointed by Pope Francis as bishop of Leeds, would at first glance appear to be a typical CBCEW apparatchik. Yet one of his first acts was to learn to celebrate the Pontifical High Mass (EF) as a Requiem for his predecessors. Although this is an annual occasion, some Tabletistas were upset beyond measure.

This is what I particularly dislike about liberals. One would think that with 90 per cent of Masses performed in a way that they like, they could tolerate the ten percent which they don't like, since they can easily avoid them. But no. For them it is all or nothing.

So when superannuated progressives deplore young priests who dress properly and make an effort to learn Latin, I have nothing but praise for the younger generation, and am happy to wave goodbye to the older (although there are important exceptions, myself and Fr AJM included).

On Easter Sunday I shall be singing at Mass in the traditional Roman Rite. Nothing will be left out, from the Vidi Aquam at the start to the Regina Caeli at the end. What's not to like?

TJM, the same can be said for the city of Atlanta and Fulton County about 600 miles to the south of South Bend. Stacey Abrams, far-left D nominee for governor last year, got 83 percent in the city of Atlanta. Last time Fulton County voted Republican for president, Hank Aaron was playing for the Braves, Jimmy Carter was governor (not president) and LBJ and Harry Truman were still alive (barely). The year of course was 1982, the Nixon landslide over McGovern. Accordingly, Father M probably glad to be in heavily GOP Bryan County as Chatham (Savannah) gets more blue by the year.........

Father McDonald,

Please review this. What are these gutless wonders going to do with regards to the "catholic" politicians and their "catholic" voters who push and vote for this legislation?

Words without action are meaningless.

Oh, I meant 1972, not 1982, in my previous post on Fulton County, GA---Typo!

John Nolan,

That is great news. Liberals? I think a priest of mine who taught Latin and Biblical Greek said it best: there is no one more illiberal than a liberal.

Eventually the left-wing loonies will be just a bad memory. The younger clergy does not appear to be buying what they are selling.

As John Nolan has pointed out many times, you are not the best person to criticize anyone's writing style. You must lead a sad little life. Are you and MT soul-mates?

The biggest single obstacle to the recovery of the Catholic faith today are the white-knuckled, artery-hardened, Vatican II liberals who are stuck in the 70's and clinging with their last breath and last ounce of waning authority to their "renewal" plan of ad-libbed Novus Ordo Masses, legions of female EMCH's deployed weekly, Glory and Praise hymnals, Catholic Campaign for Human Development, "catechists" who teach children ONLY to receive Holy Communion in the hand, rainbow LGBT "Dignity" Masses, Fr. Matthew Fox's theology...oh the list goes on.

HECK YES we need young priests and generational change in leadership. I would add a few caveats however:

1) No bishops can be consecrated who are disciples of Bernardin or nominated by his disciples

2). No one can be ordained who has spoken at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' Religious Education Congress

3). The USCCB needs to be disbanded and its headquarters in Washington D.C. fumigated

4). Every new bishop must have extensive experience offering the EF.

That's my plan for authentic renewal.
