Deo gratias for His Holiness Pope Francis. He is Jesus Christ's minister and friend. Pope Francis, our holy and great Culture of Life Roman Pontiff, leads us to the Cross of Christ.

Deo gratias for Father McDonald. He is also Jesus Christ's minister and friend. Father McDonald leads his parishioners, and, thanks to his blog, countless folks to the Cross of Christ. Deo gratias for the many years that Father McDonald has served God and His True Church.

Deo gratias for my bishop, "my" priests, deacons, and religious, as well as countless Cardinals, bishops, priests, and religious who serve God and His One and True Holy Catholic Church. They lead us to the Cross of Christ.

I refuse to permit the controversies and bickering within the Church, which has been with Her since day one of Her existence, to drag me into despair.

I keep watch at Jesus' tomb. Soon, He will arise from death's dark shadows to cast His light upon the nations.

Deo gratias for our Majestic God's great gift to me...membership in His True Church.

Through Pope Francis, we are blessed to hear the voice of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pax.

Mark Thomas, the following statement is problematic:

"Through Pope Francis, we are blessed to hear the voice of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Some people reading your comment might take it to mean that you are equating Pope Francis with Jesus Christ.

Yes, the Pope is referred to as the Vicar of Christ on earth, but this has to do with his authority and jurisdiction over the Church, which he possesses by virtue of the office he holds as the successor of St. Peter. In no way, with the correct understanding, is it to be taken that the Pope, in all his actions and pronouncements, is inseparable from Christ.

I'm not saying this is what you meant, but keep in mind those who are reading your comments and who are not Catholic.

Would they?

"Through the radio, we are blessed to hear the words of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Is someone equating the radio with Jesus Christ?

"Through our literature teacher, we are blessed to hear the words of Shakespeare."

Is someone equating the teacher with the Bard?

If through the radio we are hearing the words of Scripture, then we are indeed
hearing the words of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is not the same thing as:

"Through Pope Francis, we are blessed to hear the *voice* of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

You may have a good understanding of what Mark Thomas intended; others may not.
