TWO RECENT PHOTOS OF POPE BENEDICT AND ARCHBISHOP FULTON J. SHEEN

Pope Benedict looks remarkably well, considering. A penny for his actual thoughts about what his abdication has wrought and why the Good Lord has allowed him to witness the aftermath in this life.

Finally, the sad legal saga of where Archbishop Sheen’s mortal remains will be interred has been settled. He is moving From New York City to Peoria!

I firmly believe that things would be far worse in the Church right now if Pope Benedict had died in office. His prayers and sacrifices act as a barrier reef to protect the Church from the hippie liberal storm that is currently pounding us.

God bless Benedict XVI!

Father McDonald said..."A penny for his actual thoughts about what his abdication has wrought..."

We know that he's praised Pope Francis.

We know that he declared that Pope Francis' Pontificate is in harmony with his former Pontificate.

We know that he is committed in absolute fashion to Vatican II, which he praised (for the millionth time) via his recent letter in regard to the (nonexistent) priest sexual abuse "crisis"...

...He was/is unwavering in support of the Novus Ordo, Ecumenical Movement, interreligious "dialogue" with non-Christian religions...

...he advanced the Church's "liberal" (according to conservatives) Social Teachings...

...he was hailed as a "green" Pope...

...he offered "inculturated" Masses...

...he gave us Assisi IV, during which a witch doctor was permitted to chant a prayer to a strange god.

...he issued "controversial" statements that Rome had rushed to clarify.

...he praised Martin Luther.

But there is one major difference between his Pontificate, and Pope Francis' Pontificate:

"Modernist" Pope Francis said that the Church does not engage in proselytism. Oh, I am sorry. Pope Francis quoted Pope Benedict XVI's 2009 A.D. declaration: "The Church does not engage in proselytism. Instead, she grows by attraction."

:-)

With regard to the uh... "relocation" of Archbishop Sheen from New York to Peoria:

It seems to me he belongs in neither location.

The late archbishop was for three years the diocesan ordinary of Rochester.

So why is he not buried with his predecessors in Rochester (I assume there is a cathedral crypt there as well)?

(Jes' sayin' is all!)

Gaudete in Domino Semper!

Benedict left a mess in Rome and as I recall, even conservatives were glad to see him ride into the sunset. You wouldn’t think it possible to
make JPII’s disaster worse, but it happened. And as Mark points out, there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between Benedict’s pontificate & Francis’s.
