DOES A MAN HAVE TO HAVE THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION TO RECIEVE VALIDLY THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS?

The laying of hands and imparting the Spirit is what matters, whether Confirmation, Ordination or both.

Frequently ignored in either case, is the fact that at that moment, we are as consecrated to the service and love of God as any altar or temple, and yet how we daily profane and desecrate this temple built for only one use, the love and worship of God.

Happy 40th anniversary of priestly ordination. It pays to read the notations on the baptismal certificate!

I'm no expert, but here's my take after doing a quick search of canon law (there are similar provisions in the 1917 code): Validly, no. Licitly, yes. But of course, the Ordinary can grant a dispensation and make it licit. But there's another issue to consider. The pastor of the place where an individual is confirmed is supposed to inform the pastor of the place of baptism about the confirmation so that a notation can be made in the baptismal register and added to the baptismal certificate. Was this not done and is that why it is not listed in the notations on the certificate?

I vaguely remembering my seminary informing me that the new baptismal certificate they acquired did not have the Confirmation notification. I recal my confirmation in Augusta when I was in the 4th grade. Evidently the parish did not notify the military chapel in Italy or it did not get there. This was before the military Ordinariate’. My parish provided a certificate of confirmation.
