SAINT JOSEPH COMBINED CHOIRS FROM MACON, SING SOLEMN SUNG VESPERS FOR BISHOP-ELECT GREGORY JOHN HARTMAYER AT SAVANNAH'S CATHEDRAL!
An excerpt from the Oath of Fidelity: I will respect the free exercise of the primacy of the Supreme Pontiff over the Universal Church, and will take care to promote and defend his rights and authority...
With the utmost diligence I will carry out the apostolic duties entrusted to Bishops ,namely to teach, sanctify and rule the People of God, in hierarchical communion with the head and members of the College of Bishops...
I will uphold the discipline common to the whole Church and will carefully promote the observance of all ecclesiastical laws, particularly those contained in the Code of Canon Laws. I will be ever vigilant to prevent possible abuses, especially with regard to the ministry of the word and the celebration of the sacraments...
PRESS HERE FOR THE VIDEO OF SOLEMN SUNG VESPERS FEATURING MY CHOIR! It may take time to load. You can listen to the Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity prior to the Responsory and Magnificat or you can forward to the responsory, but do go back and listen to the Oath of Fidelity and Profession of Faith when you have time . It says it all. Let's pray that all bishops follow this Oath!
I can't say how proud I was of our combined choirs and I thank Nelda Chapman our organist and choir director for pulling this together. It was nerve racking for them, but they made the three hour journey to Savannah yesterday and returned safely last night to Macon. God bless them all!
