In the traditional Roman lectionary, the 'epistle' on all the ferial days of Lent and Passiontide is an OT lesson. Quite a few of these of these are longer than anything in the Novus Ordo lectionary.

When I attend the Novus Ordo it is in Latin, but the readings are in English, and I find myself 'tuning out'. When I attend the traditional Mass I'm usually singing, and following the Latin of the Epistle and Gospel in the Liber Usualis. The extra effort required for this makes the texts stay in the memory.

Besides returning to kneeling for communion and ad orientem posture, a huge improvement to the OF would be to mandate the saying or singing of the propers and eliminating the 4 hymn sandwich.

TJM, 100% agree

I actually think the elimination of the 2nd reading would be helpful too....
