CONSUMED BY HATRED THAT LEADS TO PERSECUTION, BUT ONE BRIGHT SPOT CONCERNS HIS JUDGMENT OF BENEDICT AND FRANCIS

Press title for complete Crux article:

British actor compares medieval Church to ISIS

Excerpts:

Everett criticized the spending and eating habits of clergy, whom he claims to have witnessed ordering five course meals during his frequent stays in Rome. “They would do better to follow in the example of Jesus, give everything up for charity and live in poverty,” he said.
Not even Pope Francis was spared from the actor’s criticism, which expressed mistrust in the pontiff’s role and influence when he was head of the Jesuits in Argentina.

I don’t trust him,” Everett said, “he proclaims a lot of good things, and then he fails to do them.”

He went on to describe Francis as “a marketing man” and claims that he preferred his predecessor Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, whom he despised for his conservatism but “was at least authentic.”

He's an actor. He makes a living from pretending to be someone he is not. Why should his personal views (and his sexual predilections) carry any weight? He knows as much about the medieval Church as does Anonymous-Kavanaugh - zilch.

FrAJM, don’t torment yourself with this nonsense. Consider that no one would give his opinion any attention except for present circumstances. He really should stay focused on global warming.

John Nolan,

Bravo! We have dozens of moronic US actors whose views on a variety of topics in fields in which they have no competence are widely reported. I don't know why they had to go across the pond to find someone who would say this. We have plenty of them in the US who would.

Much better to read what faithful priests have to say, like our host here, and ignore the bad clergy and secular junk.

Read this good priest and you will find some rest for your soul: http://frmartinfox.blogspot.com
