POPE FRANCIS GRAVELY ILL?

Recently I had dinner with a priest who works in Rome. He said that Pope Francis is riddled with cancer which began in his colon. There are a number of other health issues. Many don’t believe he will make it through 2024. In addition to that, he is almost 88 years old. Saint Jude, pray for us!

Please pray for the Church and the pope who leads her!

If he wants to please the Lord he should rescind TC

That would easily explain the acceleration of disturbing actions.

Father, I have thought about this, and after reading so many of your measured and reasonable criticism of the alleged pope, I have reached this conclusion:

As much as I love your blog and have read it for a long time, I think it's time for you to kill it. Shut it down and make sure the archived posts are either unavailable to the public, or better yet, erased.

If that sounds extreme, all I can say is that we are living in extreme times.

This pope is as rigid as it gets and he will brook NO dissent and NO opposition to his plans to change the Church. Strickland and Burke are just the tip of the iceberg. Any public voice that dares to question him will ultimately be silenced and punished. You are now a target.

The dawn of the Antichrist is upon us and Rome is helping lay the foundation. We will either lose our faith and cooperate with the regime or go underground and wait for deliverance.

Get out of the media's glare while you can. Liquidate the evidence of anything even remotely construable as dissent. Get out now, while the going's good. I have no wish to see you selling pencils on the street corner in your retirement.

Fr. ALLAN "Target" McDonald - At this "Dawn of the Antichrist," please be aware that the understanding Jerome seems to have of this biblical imagery is erroneous, underpinned by a misunderstanding of the Apocalyptic literature. The "little horn" of Daniel 7 and the "false prophet" of Revelation 13 found their way into the thoughts of biblical fundamentalists who, as always, are looking for ways to predict the "End Times."

As Scripture tells us the Antichrist is not some historical character who will appear at some time in history. Rather, the Antichrist is already with us. "Children, it is the last hour! As you have heard that antichrist (ἀντίχριστος; antíchristos) is coming, so now many antichrists (ἀντίχριστοι; antíchristoi) have come. From this we know that it is the last hour." 1 John 2:18

and:

"By this you now the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist (ἀντιχρίστου; antichrístou), of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world." 1 John 4:2-3

Antichrist as it is used in Scripture doesn't refer to a singular, apocalyptic being. As Jordan Smith has written, "Antichrists in the Bible are simply those who deny Jesus was the Christ, and that he came "in the flesh." Everything else is a much-later conflation of other words and verses into the concept of "antichrist" that was originally limited to the author of 1 and 2 John.

Oh, and if you do end up selling pencils on the street corner, I will happily buy your entire supply.

Voting for the Party of Moloch shows the Anti-Christ is active among our clergy

TJM,

Thanks for your support, but don't sweat Father K's compulsive corrections. If anyone else had written that post, he probably would have ignored it, so I am flattered that he treats me as such a special target. In a general way, he is sort of correct. There have been many Antichrists and it is tempting to fall into the Protestant trap of interpreting Revelations as a strictly prophetic book. That said, there are a considerable number of solid Catholics who differ from Professors Kavanaugh and Jordan, about a specific Antichrist who will cause a lot of trouble before the world's end. St. Robert Bellarmine in particular comes to mind. Fr. K can take exception--that's his right. I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Fr. Michael J. Kavanaugh said...

Jerome - Let me assure you, you're nothing "special." And let me correct you again - the Bible book is Revelation, not Revelations. That error leads many, yourself included I suspect, to think of the Apocalypse of John, aka Revelation, aka Revelation to John, as a book of predictions, revealing what/ who is to come.

It's not. Apocalyptic literature, Daniel and Revelation, was written to inspire hope in communities suffering extreme persecution. (I once overheard a conversation between two gentleman in the IMCA lockeroom in which one told the other that F-16 jet fighters were predicted in the Book of Revelations.)

As for the Church's teaching, "675 Before Christ's second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the "mystery of iniquity" in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh."

Notice "pseudo-messianism," not "pseudo-messiah."

I realized after submission that I had absent-mindedly added that "s", but alas, blogger has no self-editing tool once a message is submitted. As for the rest of your comments--thanks, I guess.

Jerome - You're welcome, I'm sure.

Fr K Orwell, thinking about voting for the baby killers and child groomers and mutilators again? Satan would be pleased!

Fr. Michael J. Kavanaugh said...

TJM - I know you've decided to vote for a sexual harasser of women, a serial adulterer, and a person convicted to fraud.

And how is it you are so familiar with that pleases Satan, hmmm???

Fr. K, you voted for Clinton who fits all of the above and then some.

In Banana Republics dictators go after their opponents in using the instruments of government against them, which is very un-American and the ultimate in election interference. Turley and Dershowitz have pointed out all of the lawfare against Trump will destroy our Constitutional Republic. If Trump did this to Biden and his crew of cronies, you would be frothing at the mouth and there is far more evidence coming to light that they are the real fraudsters. Remember, in NY the DA ran on a platform of going after Trump for fraud yet no one was defrauded or lost any money. All the loans were repaid, and the bankers said they would loan to Trump again. She used an obscure statute in NY which has NEVER been used where no one suffered economic loss. But simpleton partisans refuse to acknowledge this inconvenient fact because they are deranged partisans.

I understand you love abortion, the grooming of children and LGBT ideology. That is the only reasonable explanation because the Democratic Party stands for little else other than enriching those in power like the Obamas, Clintons and Bidens who have done nothing to help ordinary citizens. You really live in a bubble (of evil)
