IS TIGER WOODS' WIN AT THE AUGUSTA NATIONAL ON PALM SUNDAY A SIGN OF REDEMPTION AND HOPE FOR THE CHURCH SEEKING, BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE, A SIMILAR REDEMPTION AND COME BACK

Augusta is my hometown. The gallery was praying that Tiger Woods would win. Why? A sign of hope that one who suffers such physical and moral degeneration can come back. This thinking may not be religious for Tiger and his fans but it is definitely spiritual with Catholic sensibilities:

Bishop Barron says Tiger’s epic isn’t just about comebacks, but redemption

"Redemption?" A bit of a stretch, but I am happy the man seems to have gotten his life back in some order.

Now we are told that Fearless Leader is going to award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom which. "...recognizes those people who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".

Really? Winning a golf tournament is especially meritorious? Who will Fearless Leader choose next? The winner of some World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., cage brawl? Would it not be more fitting to choose an inner city 8th grade teacher who changes the lives of her students or a cancer researcher whose work is really life-giving, or a nurse who has worked midnight shift in a pediatric oncology ward for 30 years?

I'm happy for Tiger, but the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

The Fearless Leader is better than the feckless, narcissistic "Dear Leader" we had until January of 2017. You must LOVE abortion and gay marriage. Those were the types Dear Leader honored

Next year the Masters falls on Easter, and I suspect there will be a big crowd down there even so...which reminds me of old story about Clifford Roberts, the longtime chairman of the club from 1934 til 1976 I believe (he committed suicide in 1977). Every so often, the Masters coincides with Easter (2020 and 2023 in next few years), and when asked about that (perhaps some ministers down there years ago disapproving of sports on Easter Sunday), he was reported to have said something like, "Well, who is in charge of Easter? Why don't they change the date?" And he said it in all seriousness (he reportedly was an atheist).

Anon,

LOL

That is pure nonsense. He won a golf tournament. No epiphany here, no deep symbolism. God, are people really reaching to this extent?

And, the Medal of Freedom...seriously? Does Tiger Woods even reach the soles of Martin Luther King's or Rosa Parks' feet, for God's sake?

Gene,

True, but we gave the Nobel Peace Prize to Arafat and Obama (even before he was in office). And the Kennedy Profile in Courage award was given to Nancy Pelosi (I guess it is courageous to advocate the murder of babies in the womb). Compared to these clowns, I am not all exorcised over this one.

Gene, you apparently have no idea or appreciation of how huge and all-powerful the (false) God of golf really is...Welcome to the alternate world of golf. Believe me, Augusta lives in this alternate world every second week of April. It’s a real phenomenon.
The best: Area businesses thrive; some wouldn’t survive without this week.
The worst: for several years now, the only sporting event to generate worse sex trafficking is the Super Bowl.

Anonymous,

I understand the worst sex trafficking is from the illegal aliens who show up in sanctuary cities run by the Dems

To adapt half of Oscar Wilde’s witticism about fox hunting: Golf may not be pursuit by the unspeakable but it certainly is pursuit of the uneatable.

“Fearless Leader” criticized “Dear Leader” for pursuing the uneatable too much: “Work is good; golf is bad” Baa, Baa!

But hey, Donald Napoleon-Snowball has moved into the farmhouse now, so it’s all okay: “Work is good; golf is better.” Baa, Baa!

And Muriel just watched and said nothing.

Sex trafficking at the Master's? I had no idea...I guess those gals really know how to make your putter stutter.

Baa! Or should I say “Woof”? Which of Donald Napoleon-Snowball's attack dogs are you?

Anonymous 2,

Since you are an academic I realize you must subscribe to group think, otherwise you will no longer be welcome in the faculty lounge, that bastion of reality and tolerance.

Which of Obama the Magnificent's attack dogs are you? Did you get a copy of his Berlin Speech where he referred to himself over 400 times (Ego Amo Me on steroids)

Obama in Berlin

Examples:

◦“It’s been over 10 years since I spoke to a slightly larger crowd in front of the Victory Column when I was running for president.”
◦“I’ve been to Europe countless times. But I’m as excited to be here with you as I have been ever when I’ve come to Europe.”
◦“When I passed the Paris climate — or when I helped get the Paris agreement on climate accomplished, I was the first one to say what we’ve done here is not adequate to meet the demands of climate science.”
◦“You know, I was — I was a pretty busy guy. I’ve got to say. But I worked out every morning. I mean, I was pretty religious about it. I was in the gym.”

I suppose if I were talking about MY accomplishments during MY 34 year career, I would mention MYSELF more than a few times.

This is indicative of what? Nothing, except that I am speaking of myself.

In his recent letter, Pope Emeritus Benedict uses "I" 36 times - that in a 6 page letter. "Me" is used 5 times, "mine" is used 4 times, "myself" twice. That FORTY-SEVEN self-references in under 6000 words.

The man is plainly a megalomaniac....

TJM,

Obama is Farmer Jones. Farmer Jones did not have attack dogs.

Can you spell h-y-p-o-c-r-i-s-y?
