I have great hope that Notre Dame will be restored (although I hope the Cranmer table is ditched). I assume the Blessed Sacrament was saved by the clergy at Notre Dame.

What is amazing to me is that it appears that the candles are still intact!

Father McDonald,

I thought you and our readers would enjoy reading of the heroic efforts of Father Fournier who saved the crown of thorns and other relics from Notre Dame:

My fervant hope is that the near destruction of Notre Dame will have a salutary effect on those French who have walked away from their Faith and this may be the wake up call they need. Let us hope and pray

Bee here:

Fr. McD, thank you so much for posting the photos. Especially during this Holy Week, I try to avoid television or internet news sites, so as to not involve myself and my spirit in the affairs of the world. I try to "retire" a bit, to quiet and prayer, and use that time to read the readings from the TLM of the day, reflectn and pray. So I just look at a few sites online this week, yours being one.

I am so happy the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris is mostly intact, and that the Eucharist was saved, as well as the most precious relics, and that the fire did not affect the rose window (that I heard) and the main altar. But more than the gladness of hearing the cathedral will be restored, I hope many individuals who saw it burning, either in person or on television, were shaken to know that the Faith they love but have maybe been negligent in practicing could also easily fall victim to disaster and be destroyed, and when they went to look for it, it would be gone. I pray these be reminded that they do love Our Lord, and desire Him, and should go visit Him. Maybe many more will attend Holy Week services because of this event.

My Merciful Jesus, save souls.

God bless. May you all have a holy and blessed Holy Week.

Yes, many of the precious relics (including the Most Blessed Sacrament) were rescued. It appears from some of the aftermath photos that the stained glass windows behind the altar survived as well as the great rose window behind the organ, which also survived!

I think it will be built back to its original splendor. Benedictine monastery, Monte Casino was completely destroyed by American bombers and completely restore as was St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna which was completely restored as well.
