IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK THAT THE FREE PRESS NOT POLITICALLY MANIPULATE THE COVERAGE OF NEWS TO GET THEIR PERSON ELECTED TO HIGH OFFICE?

The problem with manipulative, hysterical fear mongering concerning the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 is that the rest of the story isn't given and only those places experiencing greater problems are used as the role model for the reporting, such as ICU units overwhelmed and the number on ventilators.

The fact is that the vast majority of those contracting this virus experience no symptoms to mild symptoms to serious symptoms but. Not requiring hospitalization which is also the case with the flu during the flu season.

The other thing that isn't reported is that the vast majority, even those with serious complications, recover from this virus.

As in any epedemic or pandemic, people die, especially those with serious health concerns prior to the virus. People die each day. If as much attention was given to car accidents and deaths around the country as given to Covid, no one would want to drive without a helmet.

And the percentage of those dying has to be placed into context. As Anonymous 2 stated, one country had two cases, one person died the other recovered. Thus half of those contracting the disease died, one person.

The USA is #7 in the world for deaths by percentage and population.

The news media in the USA, especially CNN, has politicized this disease to make sure President Trump is not re-elected. That is not the news media's job. Accurate and fair reporting is.

Most of the time only this headline is reported. However, press the title below and you get a completely different story--that all recovered!

When An Entire Convent Caught Covid-19

Sister explains what happened when her entire convent caught covid-19.
“Here in Cleveland, Ohio, all of our sisters ended up getting the virus–including our priest. It was Holy Week at the time, so…we definitely entered into the Paschal Mystery.”
“At the time, we didn’t know. Only three sisters showed severe symptoms, so they immediately isolated, and the rest of us served [each other].”
“I learned what it really means to serve,” Sr. Borsellino continued. “One of our elderly Mercedarian priests passed away. So please pray for him.”
“Thanks be to God, all of our sisters are recovered or recovering.”

The US Press has debased itself as the propaganda arm for the Dem Party for decades. Form them, it is "Abortion Uber Alles."

Meanwhile, more COVID nonsense from the UK. Since March, the daily deaths 'from' coronavirus have been reported on the national news, usually as the headline item. In the last few days it was revealed that while Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland were recording COVID deaths as those who had died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus, in England they were recording as COVID deaths anyone who had died following a positive test, even when the test was four months ago. In other words people who had recovered and died from other causes (including accidents) were being reported as having died from COVID-19.

The statistics were produced by a much-criticized quango called Public Health England and uncritically accepted by government and media until now.

Meanwhile, as the deaths from all causes, including the coronavirus, are actually less than the seasonal average, we are for the first time being ordered to wear face coverings in shops - not for medical reasons, but because the government wants to reassure those who up till now have been too timid to venture out that they won't be struck down if they do.

The idea of a "Free Press" only means free of government interference, not ideology. In either case the media is not free of ideology. In China, the press promotes Communist ideology. In USA, it promotes mostly liberal or other ideologies suitable for the marketplace. There is no such thing as a press free of ideology in USA.
But the press is only one factor in shaping the herd-thought of the population. We have the grand social media. You are lucky that your blog site is not discontinued because of this post.

Science also has unfortunately become a victim of ideology. Facts are ignored, and conclusions shaped not by any scientific method but preconceived through ideology, like that days in the Soviet Union of Marxism-Leninism, particularly this whole CoVid-19 circus. Banned videos by eminent scientists on Youtube and so forth ..... the media uses the same tactics in our present day of cultural Marxism to shape the "nous" of the population. I read a few days ago that the media will be able to swing the presidential election against Mr Trump by a good 16%.

I wonder if the writings of George Orwell will be banned soon.

Yes, most recover.

However, that's not the problem, or the "news" to be reported.

This from Macon, GA, dated 17 July:

The emergency room overflowed with patients. Then, the next wave arrived. This time on stretchers.

“They were lined up along the walls in the ER,” a health care worker inside a Navicent Health-owned hospital in middle Georgia told GPB News. “We never have had an influx like that. Since the Fourth of July, it has just exploded.”

Staff did what they always do. They tended to patients as best they could. For the sickest patients, staff searched for available beds in nearby hospitals. In previous weeks, the health care worker said, COVID-19 patients typically got transported to medical centers about 70 miles north to Atlanta or 160 miles east to Savannah.

This week, there was no room. Desperate, the health care worker said, administrators began checking available hospitals in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

The distance stretched more than 850 miles north to south, from Louisville down to Orlando.

“When you have to start shipping patients out of state, it’s bad,” the worker said. “When the hospitals are full, that’s when it becomes really dangerous for everybody.”

The Navicent employee approached GPB News late Wednesday, saying hospital systems are not providing an accurate reflection of what staff are seeing inside the walls of medical centers overrun with patients. The source spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of getting fired.

“People will never understand if we do not tell the truth about how bad it really is,” the source said. “That’s what makes us so angry.”

Loved the video with the soon-to-be-professed Sister...she's articulate, lively, but most of all, knowledgeable about the spirituality she expects to live and has lived so far in community. So glad women like this are joining orders to do God's work.

Off topic though, I came across this post about face masks in the comment section of another website. I wish it was easy to get this kind of information, but I have found it is not.

"I am OSHA 10 certified. And I know some of you are too. I don’t really know WHY OSHA hasn’t come forward and stopped the nonsense BUT I want to cover 3 things:

N95 masks and other masks with exhale ports
Surgical masks
Filter or cloth masks

Okay, so upon further inspection, OSHA says some masks are okay and not okay in certain situations.

If you’re working with fumes and aerosol chemicals and you give your employees the wrong masks and they get sick, you can be sued.

Here’s the nitty gritty breakdown:
• N95 masks: are designed for CONTAMINATED environments. That means when you exhale through N95 the design is that you are exhaling into contamination. The exhale from N95 masks are vented to breath straight out without filtration. They don’t filter the air on the way out. They don’t need to.
Conclusion: if you’re in Target and the guy with Covid has a N95 mask, his covid breath is unfiltered being exhaled into Target (because it was designed for already contaminated environments, it’s not filtering your air on the way out).

• Surgical Mask: these masks were designed and approved for STERILE environments. The amount of particles and contaminants in the outside and indoor environments where people are CLOGGING these masks very, VERY quickly. The moisture from your breath combined with the clogged mask will render it “useless” IF you come in contact with Covid and your mask traps it, YOU become a walking virus dispenser. Every time you put your mask on you are breathing the germs from EVERYWHERE you went. They should be changed or thrown out every “20-30 minutes in a non sterile environment.”

• Cloth masks: I can’t even believe I’m having to explain this, but here it goes. Today, three people pointed to their masks as they walked by me entering Lowe’s. They said “ya gotta wear your mask BRO” I said very clearly “those masks don’t work bro, in fact they MAKE you sicker” they “pshh’d” me. By now hopefully you all know CLOTH masks do not filter anything.

You mean the American flag one my aunt made? Yes. The one with sunflowers that looks so cute? Yes. The bandanna, the cut up t-shirt, the scarf ALL of them offer NO FILTERING whatsoever. As you exhale, you are ridding your lungs of contaminants and carbon dioxide. Cloth masks trap this carbon dioxide the best. It actually risks your health, rather than protect it. The moisture caught in these masks can become mildew ridden over night. Dry coughing, enhanced allergies, sore throat are all symptoms of a micro-mold in your mask.

(Cont. next post)

So what’s the ultimate answer??
*N95 blows the virus into the air from a contaminated person.
*The surgical mask is not designed for the outside world and will not filter the virus upon inhaling through it. It’s filtration works on the exhale, (Like a vacuum bag, it only works one way) but likely stops after 20 minutes, rendering it useless outside of a STERILE ENVIRONMENT (correct Becky, they don’t work in a bar, not even a little bit).
*Cloth masks are WORSE than none. It’s equivalent to using a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes.

The CDC wants us to keep wearing masks.
The masks don’t work. They’re being used to provide false comfort and push forward a specific agenda. For the love of God, research each mask’s designed use and purpose, I bet you will find NONE are used in the way of “viral defense.”
(cont. from previous post)

Just like EVERY Flu season kids, wash your hands and work on body hygiene. But trust me, the masks do not work.
If you’re worried that I don’t have my facts straight, check out the website for the Occupational Safety & Hazard Association. There, you can do your own fact checking.
Also known as OSHA, this organization is the best of the best when it comes to regulating safety for American workers. They regulate and educate asbestos workers, surgical rooms, chemicals, you name it."

Just wanted to share this.
God bless.

In my 12 years in Macon I have been to visit emergency and ICU s there with patients in the hallways on stretchers, usually during the flu season. The same at Savannah’s Memorial hospital. It happens yearly and most live but not all.

Yes, and FOX certainly has no opinion on who should be elected in November. Trump is his own worst enemy when it comes to his re-election. The loss of 40-something GOP U.S. House seats in 2018--the worst Republican House losses since the Watergate era---should have been a signal "I need to do something different." Kinda like Bill Clinton after the Democratic disaster of 1994. Clinton pivoted right to a degree, like signing welfare reform and defense of marriage act (even if he was not enthusiastic about either). Polls in Georgia of all places are close. In the meanwhile, like more than a few have wondered, are Biden and Trump the best two major candidates we could have come up with given our large population?

What I don't understand is why mobile hospitals, like those offered by Samaritan's Purse, are not being rushed to those areas. The military also has field hospitals that can be assembled and staffed in days. Why is Georgia not ready for that, with those contingency plans?

Maybe you don't know the answer to these questions, but this kind of reporting in the media seems to be rather superficial. Why have they not followed through and asked government leaders why these situations are happening, given the many months they have had to prepare for this sort of scenario?

You forgot Obama's historic losses in 2010. I don't think any Democrat president has ever lost over 1,000 elected state and federal offices in one fell swoop. Yet, he managed to get re-elected in 2012.

They have. It’s because of Trump’and his incompetent administration’s refusal to follow the scientific advice. “It’s all a hoax, it will go away on it’s own”. No need to properly follow a cautious approach when easing lockdown or plan for worst case scenarios. The forthcoming Armageddon is all on his shoulders, even if he still won’t accept responsibility.

The counties below have doubled (or more) their case total in the past 14 days, listed in alphabetical order. Interestingly, they’re all rural.

Bryan (rural), +115% (That's Richmond Hill, folks.)

Current (20 July 2020) hospitalizations continue to rise, with 147 more currently hospitalized today than were hospitalized yesterday.

Something interesting to note is that while the early weeks of the pandemic saw mainly older persons being hospitalized, that proportion has shifted to adults younger than 65 since May. In fact, adults 18 - 49 years of age have comprised the largest portion of hospitalized patients for the last five weeks worth of data collection.

Someone sent me a link to that article and I can tell you it is not as it is portrayed in that story. As far as EC overflow, we have had that at times even before COVID came along. Please don't spread that which you have no knowledge of just because it is something you read in the media.

As far as I understand it, the governor and mayors have power and authority in their jurisdictions to call for these mobile hospital units. I can't imagine anyone is denying them those facilities.

I think it's funny how to some people, especially the main stream media and apparently people like you, Bug Nose, find Trump blameworthy even for things that he has no control over, like bringing in field hospitals to assist in patient overflow. I seem to remember WAAAYYY back in March that the whole reason for the initial lock downs was "to buy time" to get adequate supplies and facilities ready to handle any surges that would overwhelm hospitals. It's now the middle of July. If they aren't ready, whose fault is it?

Blaming strained hospital capacity in certain localities on Trump is like leaving the windows open though you heard a big storm was coming, then blaming the neighbor because the rain came in.

Oh well. I know the Left has hounded Trump since Nov. 4, 2016. The ugliness that has gone on these past four years is beyond belief. I am sure the current BLM "protests" and civil unrest, plus the Left politicizing a pandemic, is aimed at making sure Trump doesn't get re-elected. I have a feeling if he loses in November, the panic about the pandemic will be over and suddenly the very same facts, like local surges, will be barely mentioned.

To watch how the Left has divided, not united, this country during this crises makes me all the more certain they need to be voted out permanently. At all levels.

Well stated and rational, so your statement is beyond the lefties comprehension. As one senator stated so well during the Justice Kavanaugh hearings, “a party that wants power this badly should never hold it.” Yet certain corrupt priests will vote for them because they are contumaciously stupid

".. refusal to follow the scientific advice."

And was is this scientific advice?
Science is never settled because a science is always open to falsification. When a science is "settled" it is no longer a science, but an ideology.

What I have seen in all this Covid-19 circus is ideology. Other scientific points of view are systematically dismissed usually because so many free-money-for-grants seekers are Trump haters considering Republicans are tighter on the freebie purse strings.

Again I go back to Sweden, ironically a Socialist country that set out to protect its economy from the start of this disease and have been ultra successful by not locking down and closing borders, but by accepting God's gift of immunity to man. Sweden has achieved herd immunity without destroying its economy. I hope Mr Trump follows, especially now that we know how to protect the most vulnerable in the population.

Bee and others:
As far as the story above posted July 20,2020 at 12:11 PM
I read the story. It was published on a national website. It is about our local Trauma center hospital.
I know lots of people who work at that facility. None of them have mentioned any of what it describes to me. Nor does it mention a good number of new modular surge bed units which were added earlier this year. If it was that bad wouldn't you think the local media would have covered it? Wouldn't you think the people I know that work there would have mentioned it to me?

The below link is to a story which I just read yesterday about a smaller facility fifty miles away in Dublin, Georgia.
It gives a more realistic picture even though it is a small hospital with not near the capacity of the other much larger hospital.

False COVID positives story out of Connecticut:

According to the Connecticut Department of Health, the errant testing results were “from a WIDELY-USED laboratory testing platform that the state laboratory started using on June 15.”

Acting Commissioner Deidre S. Gifford said the lab found inconsistencies last week while doing testing validation.

Gifford said the department is having conversations with other labs in the state to determine how many are using a similar system,

https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/coronavirus/state-says-90-positive-covid-9-test-results-were-false/2304893/

“If it had not been for us looking into the pool testing to use some of these previously known positive samples, there were no indications that any of these reported positive results would have been questioned,” he said. “There [was] nothing for us to question the results that we had if it was not for the pool testing.”

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk/covid-19-testing-flaw-in-connecticut/vi-BB16YMRm

The team pulled all of the system’s positive tests, which comprised 161 specimens from 144 patients out of more than 2,200 total samples.

2200 samples? Why weren't they doing this testing prior to now? The state thus far has conducted over 650,000 tests. And the test in question was used for over a month June 15-July 17th.

State tuned for news at 11: Trump blamed for testing error.

Anonymous at 106 the other day, yes Obama's Democrats had historic losses in 2010---but, that was after passage of an unpopular health care act and a sluggish economy. Conditions were ripe for Republican gains that year, In 2018, Trump had peace and prosperity but still lost a lot of seats. It is pretty unusual for a party to lose a lot of seats in the US House absent a recession, unpopular war or scandal. This year, the question is not whether the House will stay Democratic (odds are very high on that---in part because control of the House has not changed in a presidential year since 1952), but whether the Senate will stay Republican, even if barely. A Democratic House, Senate and president would not be a pretty sight for anyone who has even an inkling of conservative religious views.

Anonymous at 4:38, here is a little for color on BLM. It should disappoint the white catholic priests and bishops who support the movement:

"At a Black Lives Matter demonstration in London on Sunday, a speaker who is a self-described mixed-race member of the LGBT community declared that "there is one common enemy: the white man," and "once we've realized that we're all fighting the same fight, it just strengthens the army," before finally saying, "all of these groups of people, the issues they face, it all comes from the same people: white men — so we need to get rid of them."

BLM in the UK is a busted flush. Like Extinction Rebellion which caused much disruption in 2018 and 2019 it will end up holding meaningful 'workshops' for those who are interested.

XR had its nemesis in October 2019 when one of its self-righteous middle class activists climbed onto the top of a commuter train at Canning Town station. He was dragged off by angry passengers and roughed up.

As for 'racism', show me a country which is racially and culturally homogeneous and I will concede that there is no racism there. But very few are.
