TOO INSPIRATIONAL?

Bee here:

One of the most painful and sad things about the post-Vatican II Church is the lost of the mystical. The Vatican II liturgies seem be deliberately and consciously designed to cut us off from the realization of the supernatural, and starve the the parts of us that can apprehend and participate in it. I think I understand the Church's desire to curb superstitious belief that some people in the pre-Vatican II Church fell into. But I think that, even though current clergy pays lip service to the mystical and supernatural truths depicted in this video, they don't believe it themselves. And that, I think, is the fundamental problem with the current Church.

Sadly, generations post-Vatican II often never hear about "in persona Christi," or about the Church Triumphant and the choirs of angels in attendance at every Mass in every part of the world.

I think this video is a little over the top with the music and triumphalism, (and the angels don't look humble and holy, but a little sassy and bold, but whatever... :-)) but I wonder how many Catholics today who would see it would even understand that what is depicted in this video is what the Church actually teaches about what is happening at Mass. I think it would surprise many Catholics. Many.

God bless.

Bee puts it well.

Also, the TLM is not a boutique Mass. It is the Mass of those who want to understand the meaning and significance of being Catholic. Individuals who are exclusively committed to the NO (under no circumstance would they attend a TLM) have a different religion from the Faith taught by the Church for 2000 years. They may still be Catholic if baptized in the Church but certainly lapsed ones.

You will tell me that I am just a crank for saying this. You may say this and I will not be offended. Certainly, my bishop would agree with you. Hey, can't I also be making a mess? Can't one of us -not me certainly- who think this way be more Catholic than the Pope? Come to think, the HF has managed make any future remark: "You can't be more Catholic than the Pope!" totally irrelevant until at least the next conclave.

SO much going on here, but some of the symbolism brought me to tears......thanks for posting it.

Nice try but it does not work with the Novus Ordo.

I have problems with the Novus Ordo, but still fully believe that Christ acts in Persona Christi offering Himself in perfect eternal sacrifice while all the angels and saints are in attendance. I think all Masses are beautiful for that reason even though many of them ain't pretty.

Loved the video.

Romulus Augustus here, Indeed as Anonymous said at 6:08 it is still the Novus Ordo and the not the TLM, why even attempt to keep trying in vain to make the Novus Ordo something it is not and that is the supernatural of The Traditional Latin Mass, Novus Ordonarians don't even believe in the Real Presence or anything prior to the New Springtime.

During morning Mass earlier today at a Catholic Church (or cathedral ?) in Nice, three people were killed, two of the victims were beheaded, including a woman; and several others were wounded. Further details of this terrorist attack are still coming through.....
How true that damaging and destroying Catholic statues and churches would eventually or soon be followed by killing Catholic people.

Please do not attempt to speak for all of us who grew up primarily with the Novus Ordo (“Novusordians”).

I received the fullness of the Catholic Faith from the nuns and priests (S.C.s, diocesans, AND Jesuits!) who taught me in school. Our parish instituted the post-conciliar reforms by the book (do the red, say the black) according to the mind of the Church and not some artificial “spirit of Vatican II” which in reality has nothing to do with the word of the Council.

As a young teenager I was confused by anti-Novus Ordo polemics because our parish was saved from all the silliness, so I didn’t know all if that was going on.

Gaudete in Domino Semper!

I can't even bring myself to say this video was a "nice try", even though who ever was responsible might have been (hopefully) sincere. Angels are neither male nor female. Nor are they like us in nature with our physical characteristics. That is just New Age conjecture. I would like to see a Catholic well grounded in the Faith attempt something like this so as to at least give it some air of authenticity.

Yes, the video is so twee as to be cringeworthy - the Mass according to Disney.

Angels are sexless but are traditionally depicted as male. In Christian art they are shown with wings, since 'angelos' is the Greek for messenger, and supernatural messengers are winged (cf Hermes).

Yes John Nolan, but the message is priceless.........
