WILLIAM DONOHUE OF THE CATHOLIC LEAGUE DECLARES WAR ON THE NEW YORK TIMES

The New York Times which also owns the Boston Globe is gunning for the Pope in much the same way as the Boston Blob gunned for the Church in 2002 by uncovering unreported sexual abuse in the Church going back 50 years.

Today the New York Times has a particularly scurrilous attack on Pope Benedict leading the Catholic League's sometimes strident voice to greater heights.

It's going to get worse before it gets better folks. Be prepared. I think we're at war!

This past Sunday, Joan Vennochi, who writes editorials for the Boston Globe, pontificated on secular society not giving the Church a pass on criminal prosecution of those who covered up the scandal in the Church of Boston. I wrote her an email which of course I have not received any response. This is the email:

In your editorial about sex abuse, you make some good points about “cover up” in the Church and secular society not giving the Church a pass especially by not prosecuting those in Church leadership, like Cardinal Law. Since I don’t read your editorials too often, I am sure you must be consistent in your decrees by asking the same for public school personnel and the abuse that has happened there in Boston. Or has the Boston Globe put a spotlight on that going back fifty and sixty years? If not, why not? If you have please direct me to the links where I can find it on the Boston Globe. Thanks in advance. What government officials would be implicated, dead or alive? Just who would be prosecuted? What code of silence and secrecy is operative in Boston’s secular, governmental culture? Could you name names on who should be prosecuted? What governor; what senator; what representative; what mayor; what school superintendent; what principal? Has the secular press in Boston done investigative reporting on that? When will you publish the secular leaderships “Letter of Apology” and then criticize it for not being enough? Keep up the good work. I’d love to know how you have reported on the secular public school’s handling of sex abuse in their system going back 50 and 60 years ago. I can’t wait for the links you will send me from the Boston Globe. God bless you. Fr. Allan J. McDonald

To date, no links to articles in the Boston Globe about sex abuse in Boston's public schools and reformatories has been sent to me! Is the Boston Globe covering up this scandal and those who perpetuate it?

The NY Times...I buy one every Friday to wrap my fish in. I don't think there is any real concern...nobody reads that rag anymore, anyway.

People are beginning to see through the biased, liberal media. Outlets such as Drudge Report and FoxNews draw far bigger audiences--people seem to find their reporting more balanced.

Can you imagine if Dick Cheney had blurted out "....f****ing deal!" at a national, televised event? We'd still be hearing about it. The liberal media would be apoplectic with rage and indignation and calling for his resignation.

We are a free, open, and democratic society and we have an inalienable right to accurate, unbiased, and unadulterated information. All we get is slant, contortion, political /social engineering, and drivel, from the liberal media.

The hard truth is that the media and all these Leftist critics of the Church do not give a rodentia's derriere about the victims of abuse. They are all ideologues who use this as a way to attack the Pope and the Church. The cynicism behind all of this is disgusting. The vast majority of the Church's critics are probably pro-abortion. If they don't care about murdering a child, they certainly do not care about one being abused. This is just another example of the cynicism of the Left.

Very good letter and should not only go to the Boston Globe but probably 90 % of the newspapers out in circulation. Bashing of the Roman Catholic Church is getting so extreme and has to be handled in some way. It is bordering on religious persecution IMHO.And they almost never talk about all the good works and helping the poor that goes on behind the scenes. They just take it for granted. How many people know that if you are in a big mess you can always go to Catholic Charities !

Good for William Donohue.

I just wish he hadn't declared war on Randall Terry.

God bless our pope! As Satan's hand seems more and more strengthened against Holy Mother Church and Her Chief Steward, I am reminded again and again of two things:

1. I am reminded that these things *must* take place, either in our time or in another, and the Bride *must* follow the Groom into Gethsemane and unto utter immolation: The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through [a] final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection. --Catechism of the Catholic Church, 667.

2. And I am reminded of what the Holy Father asked of us from the outset of his pontificate:

My dear friends - at this moment I can only say: pray for me, that I may learn to love the Lord more and more. Pray for me, that I may learn to love His flock more and more...Pray for me, that I may not flee for fear of the wolves. Let us pray for one another, that the Lord will carry us and that we will learn to carry one another.

Dominus! Conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum eius!

We the laity must be prepared to see our beloved Church looted, stripped, abused, outlawed, spat upon, tortured, and left for dead.

We must be prepared to see our Holy Father incarcerated and kicked and manhandled, like the soldiers of Napoleon did to the "Citizen" Pope, Pius VI, until he died from his maltreatment.

We must be prepared to stand with our good priests in their bitterest hour, whenever it may come, and shield them, protect them, and hide them--even at the cost of our lives--from the Murderer-From-the-Beginning, as Catholics did in Elizabethan England, Communist Mexico, Civil War Spain, and so many other times and places, seeing them as our lifelines of salvation, in that it is from them that we receive the graces of the sacraments.

We keep the night watches, fasting, praying and trimming our lamps, for the winnower is at the door and his staff is in his hand...
