HOLY THURSDAY’S EVENING MASS OF THE LORD’S SUPPER AT SAVANNAH’S CATHEDRAL BASILICA…

My Good Friday walk to Savannah’s Riverfront:
I took a long walk from the rectory to Savannah’s Riverfront. This is the most beautiful city on the East Coast and it is booming. All kinds of construction going on downtown. I will be at the Cathedral Basilica’s Good Friday Liturgy at 12 Noon followed by confessions and then back home to HHI, the most beautiful island in the world. No brag, just fact…😇

STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL

APRIL 2022, MY LAST HOLY THURSDAY EVENING MASS OF THE LORD’S SUPPER AS A PASTOR…

I think that of the three Paschal Triduum Liturgies, Holy Thursday is by far my most favorite.

This year is my first time to experience the Paschal Triduum as a so-called “retired” priest. At my request, the rector of our Cathedral Basilica graciously consented to allow me to participate in the Cathedral’s Holy Thursday Mass at 7 PM with Bishop Stephen Parkes, the celebrant. He also allowed me to spend the night so that I can participate in the Passion Liturgy of Good Friday at the Cathedral at 12 noon followed by Confessions which I will help to hear.

On Easter Sunday I remain on Hilton Head Island to celebrate the three added Masses that Holy Family Church will have. My Masses will be in the original church, now social hall and these are at 7:45 AM; 9:15 AM and 10:45 AM. There are three Masses in the church, which seats 1,000 a half hour earlier than my three! It will be controlled chaos. This caters to all the tourists that are here on the island, many on vacation from Augusta during Master’s Week and many coming to the island for the Heritage Golf Tournament which begins with practice rounds on Easter Monday. Tourist season is in full swing, but Easter Sunday’s weather prediction is rain and in the 60’s, yuck.

Here is my last Holy Thursday at St. Anne Church in Richmond Hill last year:

Fr. Robert, parochial vicar, washing the feet of 12 men (I can’t get on my knees any longer to do this over an extended period).

THE JOY OF HOLY THURSDAY AND THE BEGINNING OF THE PASCHAL TRIDUUM!

But first, for the important stuff of Holy Thursday, the finest wine and nothing but the finest for me! Almond Joy and “Wine Joy” at $3.49 a bottle, the finest kind of wine!!! Got it at Krogers!

But of course, Holy Thursday begins the Paschal Triduum with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper which includes the “Mandatum”. Holy Thursday is also known as “Maundy” Thursday the bastardization of the magnificent Latin word for mandate, “Mandatum.”

At Holy Thursday’s Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, a few years ago, I washed the feet of 12 parishioners, one of whom surprised me with decorated feet! On the first Holy Thursday, our Lord instituted two Sacraments, that of Holy Orders, or ”priesthood” when he ordained his apostles as the first priests and Jesus showed them that the Priesthood of the New Covenant must be not only ”offering the One Sacrifice of Good Friday in an unbloody, glorified way” but also of service symbolized by Jesus, the High Priest, washing the feet of the Apostles. The priesthood is necessary for the next Sacrament our Lord institutes, the Sacrament of His Body and Blood at the Last Supper to remember in an eternal way His Sacrifice of Good Friday on the Cross.

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE HIGH SYMBOLISM OF THE BLOODY SACRIFICE OF JESUS’ SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS APPLIED TO THE UNBLOODY HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS—THE GORY, UNGLORIFIED PASSION OF OUR LORD AND THE GLORIFIED POST RESURRECTION UNBLOODY HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS…

A great video (screen shot above) of the high symbolism of the Traditional Latin Mass and the bloody Sacrifice of Jesus Christ at His historical Passion.

Symbolic meaning tied into Jesus’ Passion, Death and Resurrection has always been applied to the Catholic Mass and its various practical actions. The ancient form of the Traditional Latin Mass is very ritualized and pungent with symbolic meaning. Unfortunately, much of that ”high symbolism” applied to the Mass was stripped away, like Jesus was stripped of His garments at the Passion, when the Mass was reformed with the 1970 Roman Missal.

HOLY TUESDAY’S CHRISM MASS AT SAVANNAH’S CATHEDRAL BASILICA

A blast from the past. Fr. Godfred, from Ghana and Fr. Dawid, from Poland were my parochial vicars at St. Joseph Church in Macon from 2012 to 2015 I think. I’m in the center and from Italy. Very international!

These are some of my former parishioners from Saint Anne in Richmond Hill, following the Chrism Mass:

BOMBSHELL! IN POLAND, AND ELSEWHERE, LET US PRAY THAT THIS IS APPLICABLE TO CARDINAL HOLLERICH OF LUXEMBURG AND CARDINAL MCELROY OF SAN DIEGO AND ALL OF THE BISHOPS OF THE CHURCH OF GERMANY! CERTAINLY, THIS INCLUDES ALL THESE HETERODOX CHARACTERS!

From the Pillar:

Polish bishops regulate social media use by clerics

Excerpt:

“Their presence in the media space cannot be used to conduct activities against God, the Gospel, the unity of the Church community, their own superiors, or any other person.”

VATICAN II WASN’T IMBECILIC, BUT THOSE WHO IMPLEMENTED IT WERE

As I have lamented for the past ten years, we are in the midst of people my age and much older very nostalgic for the 1960’s and 70’s who are in very high places in the Church and usually Jesuits. They loved the chaos and instability of the Church of that period as well as the imbecilic changes that post-Vatican II revolutionaries wrought to the Church.

We have returned to that period of time with the imbecilic synodal way, wherever it is to be found and Jesuits who are just too damn imbecilic to even describe or correct. Unstable is their name and they are all aging, striving to recover their youth until the Lord calls them home for their particular judgement.

You can read from the New Liturgical Movement an article which is a Time Capsule from about 1969 about the state of the liturgy then which is the site of the Modern Liturgy today:

“What if all these brilliant innovators were nothing more than a bunch of atrocious imbeciles?”: Msgr. Celada on the 1960s

Last October 24, I published here a translation of a remarkable open letter written by Msgr. Domenico Celada in 1969. What follows is an article he published late in February 1969 in the periodical Il Tempo. Enjoy the clarity of this distinguished musicologist and — we must surely say looking back — prophet of the Lord. —PAK
Here’s some click bate from that article:
These are purely rhetorical questions, since the inexplicable renunciation of Latin has already practically taken place “in fraudem legis”: against the obligatory nature of a conciliar law that clearly prescribes the preservation of the use of Latin, and against the right of the Catholic faithful to the enjoyment of a common good.
Now, having broken the unity of the language and destroyed the identity of the rites, the chaos has extended from the liturgical field to the doctrinal one. Already in April 1967, Paul VI began to lament “something very strange and painful,” the “alteration of the sense of the one and only genuine faith.” But this was the consequence, with a perfect and inexorable logic, of tampering with the grandiose edifice of the Liturgy—that is, of having translated, mutilated, and replaced texts and formulas that in themselves represented a “summa” of piety and doctrine. One understands today more than ever the truth of Pius XII’s teaching in the encyclical Mediator Dei: “The use of the Latin language is a clear and noble sign of unity, and an effective antidote to any corruption of pure doctrine.”

The crisis of the liturgy is now indeed “visible to all.” Many deceptions have been discovered. In spite of this, the innovators continue to work with the zeal of those who are not quite sure of themselves, they continue to tamper with, distort, and demolish what little remains. A recent conference of liturgists was held to discuss “new Eucharistic prayers” and a new “ordo Missae”... [3]

With regard to these obstinate reformers who are disrupting the liturgy, the famous Catholic novelist François Mauriac wrote not long ago: “I ask myself, in a sudden panic: what if all these brilliant innovators were nothing more than a bunch of atrocious imbeciles? Then there would be no more escape: for it has happened that the deaf regain their hearing, that the blind see again; it has even happened that the dead are resurrected; but there is no proof, no document, about an idiot who has ceased to be an idiot.”

HOLY WEEK AND OUR NEED FOR REDEMPTION, EVEN POPES

John Allen at Crux confirms what I am reading in back room blogs. Pope Francis is terminally ill. News flash, we all are!

That’s why we need Jesus Christ. It’s all coming to an end. Every soul must deal with the four last things, death, judgment heaven and hell. That includes every pope the Church as had.

The world, too, meaning Mother Earth, is terminal. We should be good stewards of it, but the Church’s mission is to point out that it is all coming to an end and climate change may be a sign of that.

But let’s get back to the pope and the fact that he is dying and News flash, we all are. John Allen says there is a report that Pope Francis will move into Pope Benedict’s monastery residence soon. Maybe it will be easier for him to receive hospice, palliative care there. We’ll see.

But John Allen also quotes and Italian atheist, who needs to be saved too, and what he thinks of Pope Francis. Allen’s full article is HERE.

On Sunday, the digital platform “fanpage.it” carried an interview with Odifreddi about Pope Francis. To begin with, Odifreddi argued that the pope’s recent hospitalization underscored the need for a fixed retirement age for pontiffs, which he suggested should be set at 80.

“Today a pope is constantly in the spotlight, traveling a great deal and continually making important decisions,” he said. “It’s an exhausting job, like being a head of state or the manager of a large company, and it’s unthinkable that men over 90 could have the energy necessary to tolerate its demands.”

He isn’t optimistic about that happening, however.

“At bottom, it’s a matter of deciding whether to continue to trust in metaphysics, in the capacity to hold onto power until death, or to accept a very normal principle of reality,” he said. “I fear I already know the answer – anyway, metaphysics are their specialty.”
Perhaps most interesting is Odifreddi’s take on Pope Francis, given his friendship with his predecessor.
“I don’t understand [Francis] very well, but then he’s a Jesuit, so not being understood is sort of his mission,” Odifreddi quipped.

“I don’t like his character very much,” he said. “He seems an irascible and vindictive person towards those who don’t agree with him, as we’ve seen in his treatment of some figures in the Roman Curia,” he said, citing the cases of German Cardinal Gerhard Müller and Archbishop Georg Gänswein. (The irony of a left-leaning secularist complaining about a progressive pope’s alleged mistreatment of two conservative prelates speaks for itself.)

“I find this way of acting hardly commendable,” Odifreddi said, “but then again, he’s a Jesuit.”

POPE FRANCIS PRESIDES OVER PALM SUNDAY LITURGY

Even Crux takes note of the smaller crowd which with all other popes would be packed:

On Sunday, Francis entered a roughly three-quarters full St. Peter’s Square in his popemobile and was driven to the obelisk at the center of St. Peter’s Square, where he began Palm Sunday Mass. After the cardinals and other concelebrants processed to the main altar, the pope followed in his popemobile and incensed the altar before taking his seat.

The number of the Faithful in these outdoor Masses continues to drop dramatically. The central Cross once on the altar shunted to the side of the altar:

PRAYERS ANSWERED, POPE LEAVES HOSPITAL AFTER RESTORING SUMMORUM PONTIFICUM AND SUPPRESSING THE JESUITS

Pope Francis returns home after brief hospital stay

Pope Francis is discharged from the A. Gemelli University hospital on Saturday morning.

By Vatican News staff reporter

Pope Francis was released from Gemelli Hospital on Saturday morning following a brief hospital stay that involved scheduled tests and treatment for bronchitis.

POPE FRANCIS SUPPRESSES HIS OWN RELIGIOUS ORDER, THE JESUITS AND MAKES FATHER ZOLLNER A CARDINAL HOPING HE WILL BECOME THE NEXT FIRST NON-JEUSIT POPE!

Church Militant and several other sites are claiming for the second time in Church history the Jesuit order has been suppressed.

In 1773, Pope Clement XIV suppressed the Society of Jesus in Dominus ac Redemptor (The Society was not restored till 1814).

Pope Francis has just promulgated Societas Iesu Haereticus !

"Said Jesuits have produced no good fruits for over 60 years....after mature deliberation, out of our certain knowledge, and the fullness of our apostolic power...the said order is suppressed, abolished, and deprived of all activity... orthodox members of the regular clergy, recommended for prudence and sound morals, shall be chosen to preside over and govern said houses; so that the name of the Society shall be, and is, for ever extinguished and suppressed...."

Cardinal Burke and all leading Canon lawyers are in agreement that Pope Francis's Societas Iesu Haereticus has resulted in (in laymen's language) Francis's own papacy being null and void, ie possessing no power or validity.

APRIL BOMBSHELL!!!!
