This Requiem Mass at St. Olav’s Cathedral in Norway, is a splendid Bugnini Requiem and the way that a modern Requiem should be celebrated. Please note that the Propers are chanted in Latin, the Kyrie the 9-fold Greek version and the Sanctus, Mysterium Fidei and Agnus Dei in Latin. Everything else is in Norway’s native language.
The Priest-Celebrant chants the Eucharistic Prayer, Communicants kneel at the altar railing to receive Holy Communion.
There is no way to deny that Pope Benedict XVI’s liturgical magisterium about the solemn celebration of the Mass of Paul VI has had a world-wide influence.
Let us pray that more parishes worldwide follow the genius of Pope Benedict XVI as it concerns the Mass of Paul VI!
