It's tricky. I don't think that Pope Leo would appoint Guido Marini prefect unless he also moves secretary Archbishop Viola to a new post (it would be very odd to have two ex-bishops of Tortona in the same dicastery).
The ideal solution would he to make Viola Archbishop-bishop of the diocese of Assisi (that would suit all parties well) and replace him and Cardinal Roche at the same time. But Pope Leo's personnel changes so far haven't been as bold as that.
It will be interesting to see if Pope Leo wears the winter mozzetta next Monday: if he does, I reckon Guido's chances of becoming prefect are a lot stronger.
Has Card. Roche been added to any posts lately? Nothing more recent than 2022 shows up on his official Vatican.va profile (didn't even know that was a thing) : https://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/en/documentation/cardinali_biografie/cardinali_bio_roche_a.html
And unless I'm mistaken, his DDW term will be up next year.
This is my observation, not my hope lol. No need to invent names for me yet. I'd love to see Marini in this position. My observation is that Leo tends to associate with the "centre left", which would include Roche, and he has been appointed to two or three dicasteries. I can dig the info up, but it would be a lot of work to sift through all of the bulletins. If memory serves he was appointed to the dicasteries for eastern churches and the clergy, possibly one other.
Also don't forget that cardinals lose their place on dicasteries at 80. Therefore he will be gone in less than five years regardless of whether the pope likes him or not. Of course, I can't read Leo's mind, I could be wrong. It's just that his decision making has been so glacial slow (maybe due to jubilee) that it would be easier to have the old guard age out naturally, unless they are causing significant headaches (people like Fernandez of Mattassoglio)

Why? Are you in favor of the "slob look?"
Wilted Pine, do you love failure? Then the Roche is your guy!
