I always dreaded reading or listening to anything Pope Francis would write or say because I would always be scratching my head over some things wondering what His Holiness actually was teaching. And then there were those who spinned his teachings into ideological diatribes.
Pope Leo’s latest Apostolic Letter released this Monday morning, December 22 is beautifully written, dense, affirming and challenging.

I remain a little hesitant, however, my confidence level is growing. I only hope the sacred, the beautiful, that which call's people to holiness "wins" with a tangible in the future, not another document that simply "calls for", "reminds", or is another suggestion to reread the council docs and implement them as written. It would seem that Charlotte and Detroit are examples of nose-thumbing that will just continue while torturing practicing Catholics and expecting\demanding their treasure on fabricated terms. These mandates negatively affecting vocations almost seems to be a guaranteed.
