A MUST READ FROM DAMIAN THOMPSON: AND IT IS CLEVERLY WRITTEN WITHOUT BEING RAGINGLY BRUTAL TOWARD THE CURRENT PAPAL ROYAL COURT AND POPE…

Damian ThompsonDamian Thompson

PUSH FOR ARTICLE:

The search for the next pope is turning ugly

A GRAND MONEY BYTE:

The simplest answer is that they’re desperate. Plenty of cardinal-electors are broadly liberal on the subject of women and LGBT people. But they’re damned if they’re going to be bounced into ordaining female deacons or hosting gay blessings by the forthcoming ‘Synod on Synodality’, whose agenda has been hijacked by activists chosen by Team Francis. The electors are also troubled by another of Team Francis’s pet causes: the attempt to snuff out the Latin Mass, which is being supervised with Cromwellian zeal by the Yorkshire-born Arthur Roche, the Vatican’s liturgy chief.

‘Dad’s always been a strong supporter of inclusivity… he hates everyone, equally.’

Put simply, the odds are stacked against any prominent liberal candidate who’s invested too heavily in the synod, overstepped the mark on homosexuality or joined the march against traditionalists. That may be why Zuppi claimed – unconvincingly – that he knew nothing about a same-sex blessing in his diocese, and why he took the huge risk of presiding over Old Rite vespers last year. Was that a signal that he wouldn’t be a continuity candidate? Shortly after those vespers the briefings started. But whether they will damage him is another matter, such is the unpopularity of the ‘Bergoglian bunny-boilers’, as one Vatican source calls them.

Interesting article. On balance PF’s appointments to the College of Cardinals are spiritual mediocrities and second rate intellects: think Cupich. So the next pope may even be a further downgrade from the current pope

Doesn't bode well for the future, as I would hope it to be.

Now Remember the Latin Mass is the problem:

"Pope Francis has written a third supportive letter to LGBTQQIAAP2S+ advocate Father James Martin, promising prayers for the success of a Pride conference to be held in New York this month.

“I send my best regards to the members of the meeting at Fordham University,” the pontiff wrote to his fellow Jesuit. “You and all who are working at the Outreach Conference are in my prayers and good wishes.”

Damian Thompson despises Pope Francis. Mister Thompson has long trafficked in the promotion of hit pieces aimed at our Holy Father. I regard as suspect, Mr. Thompson's commentaries related to Pope Francis.

I have first-hand knowledge that Damian Thompson, when determined to defame Pope Francis, will ignore the truth.

==========================================================================

In 2020 A.D., Pope Francis' detractors had claimed that then-Pope Emeritus, as well as Cardinal Sarah, via the book From the Depths of Our Hearts: Priesthood, Celibacy and the Crisis of the Catholic Church, had attacked Pope Francis.

Cardinal Sarah denounced the above as nonsense. He insisted that not one word in the book had been directed against Pope Francis. Cardinal Sarah declared that the book had been written in filial obedience to Pope Francis. Cardinal Sarah stated that Pope Francis had welcomed the book.

Nevertheless, Damian Thompson continued to promote the fake news story in question. He was determined to weaponize Pope Emeritus, Cardinal Sarah, as well as the book against Pope Francis.

Even in the face of Cardinal Sarah's testimony to the contrary, Damian Thompson adhere to lies so as to attempt to defame Pope Francis.

I had the following twitter exchange with Mr. Thompson.

Mr. Thompson, you said "...retired Benedict XVI challenged his successor over the hot-button subject of clerical celibacy."

Emeritus "challenged" Pope Francis? Emeritus pledged obedience to Pope Francis. Card. Sarah made it clear that the book doesn't "challenge" Pope Francis.

Nevertheless, that’s what they were doing.

Mr. Thompson, they've insisted otherwise. In particular, Cardinal Sarah insisted that not one sentence in the book is opposed to Pope Francis. Emeritus has made clear his unwavering filial obedience to Pope Francis. I believe them, Mr. Thompson. Don't you, sir?

====================================================

Damian Thompson preferred the false narrative in question. He could not have cared less that to have defamed Pope Francis, Mr. Thompson had to turn Pope Benedict XVI, as well as Cardinal Sarah, into liars.

From Damian Thompson's article in question:

"If they want a pope who is in favour of gay blessings and women’s ordination – causes that Francis has toyed with..."

Pope Francis has opposed same-sex blessings.

Pope Francis has opposed women's ordinations.

MT, your operative word is “has”. But we all know how the god of surprises and the mess the spirit makes changes people, even popes. And remember that Pope Francis in May sent a hand written note of thanks to Fr. James Martin for his LGBTQI+++++ ministry. Martin, of course supports marriage between any combination of non binary sexes as well as ordination to Holy Order of the same.

I heard the podcast version of this, it was mentioned in the article, about 6 weeks back. It is very sobering. We need to be prayerful, at least.

Father McDonald said..."MT, your operative word is “has”."

Yes. "Has."

Pope Francis has opposed same-sex blessings. Pope Francis has opposed women's ordinations.

Pope Francis...has...not taught otherwise.

Damian Thompson has again demonstrated his determination to spread lies designed to defame Pope Francis.

But that does not surprise me as via his 2021 A.D. twitter exchange with me, he portrayed then-Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, as well as Cardinal Sarah, as liars. Damian Thompson had done so to advance his lie that then-Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, as well as Cardinal Sarah, had attacked Pope Francis in regard to the issue of celibacy.

Hello, Father McDonald.

The God of surprises raised Jorge Bergoglio, not Damian Thompson, to teach, govern, and sanctify us as Pope of the True Church.

The God of surprises has guaranteed that Pope Francis will propagate the True Religion.

Contrary to the nonsense that Damian Thompson may wish to espouse, Pope Francis has upheld the True Church's teachings in regard to homosexaulity, as well as the ordination of women to the priesthood.

Pope Francis has done so via his communion with, as well as guidance from, the God of surprises.

That doesn't surprise me.

:-)

Mark Thomas,

Quit spreading lies. NO, Pope Francis is in kahouts with the gay lobby. He is just trying to fool the gullible, like you. Pay less attention to his words, and what he does. And so far he has not disciplined anyone for supporting gay sex. He can't even deal with the cocaine fueled gay sex orgy at the Vatican. SO grow up and quit wasting our time with your silly cheerleading for a corrupt pope.

In regard to Damian Thompson's hit piece in question:

Damian Thompson has long delighted in having trashed His Holiness, Pope Francis. His current hit piece is filled with contempt directed at the Vicar of Christ.

Damian Thompson, in his desire to trample Pope Francis, does everything from having employed (several times) the disparaging term "Team Francis," to having lied about Pope Francis in regard to same-sex blessings, as well as the ordination of women to the priesthood.

Compare Damian Thompson's nastiness to the praise that Pope Benedict XVI had heaped upon Pope Francis.

Compare Damian Thompson's vile approach to Pope Francis to that of holy Pope Benedict XVI's pledge of "unconditional reverence and obedience" to Pope Francis.

Compare Damian Thompson's desire to assault Pope Francis verbally to Cardinal Sarah, who has denounced as "Satanic" the defamation of Pope Francis.

Note to Damian Thompson:

Follow Pope Benedict XVI's holy example: Pledge to Pope Francis your "unconditional reverence and obedience."

Stand with God, as well as His Holy People, who, in turn stand with Pope Francis.

Pax.

Just to be clear:

You can be a good Catholic and not like, or even feel profound disgust for, the current (or past) pope. Lots of people thought Pope Benedict, or Pope Paul VI, or Pope Pius IX, or any number of other popes, were terrible, and that did not make them bad Catholics, nor did it disqualify their observations.

I wonder as to Damian Thompson's familiarity with Church teaching in regard to his hit pieces directed at Pope Francis?

CCC 2479: "Detraction and calumny destroy the reputation and honor of one's neighbor. Honor is the social witness given to human dignity, and everyone enjoys a natural right to the honor of his name and reputation and to respect.

"Thus, detraction and calumny offend against the virtues of justice and charity."

Damian Thompson has engaged in falsehoods against Pope Francis.

Via my 2020 A.D. twitter exchange with him, I experienced first-hand Damian Thompson's willingness to tell lies so as to defame Pope Francis.

What a waste of his literary talent. Damian Thompson trafficks in hit pieces so as to defame Pope Francis.

What does Damian Thompson hope to gain via his desire to sully Pope Francis' good name?

Pax.

Fr Martin Fox said...

I meant to add: one is always bound to charity. One must always try to be fair, even generous, in assessing those one disagrees with.

And as far as calumny and detraction. Calumny is harming someone's reputation unjustly; detraction is repeating something harmful, yet true, without necessity.

If Mr. Thompson is to be accused of either, the accuser must prove his or her case. If not, the accuser is, himself, guilty of wrong.

Simply offering criticism, even harsh criticism, is not calumny, detraction, or even a lack of charity. No, not even of the pope.

After all, charity -- both for the one criticized, and those harmed by the actions criticized -- may require said criticism.

Or do you suppose the saints who criticized others, even popes, were guilty of some sin in doing so?
