As it concerns the jerking of his hand away from those who wished to kiss is ring:
A Vatican spokesman said the Pope was “amused” by the reaction to the video. “Sometimes he likes it, sometimes he does not. It’s really as simple as that”.
In other words, the pope is fickle.
UPDATE: CNN, the leader in fake world news, had a segment on this on their morning show. We are not amused, though. Alison opined that he was in a rush to visit the sick and was trying to move things along.

They wanted to kiss his ring, he wanted to say a few words and shake their hand. I think some people just don't like the pope. shame on them

Is it a good thing when the shepherd thinks it is funny to upset his sheep?
Anonymous:
If the pope doesn't want people to kiss his ring, simply say so. Or, simply keep your hands folded. The issue is not kissing the ring as such; the issue is the deliberate humiliation of people who have less power than you, who are offering you reverence and love. That is a terrible thing to do. And then to say, afterward, that it "amuses" him?
Father Fox,
Bravo. I assume you know who Anonymous is, don't you?
TJM:
No, and I'm fine with not knowing, for the time being.
According to Reuters both Popes Benedict and John Paul ll tried to discourage the kissing of the papal ring during long receiving lines.
