To This on Sunday, June 8, 1980:
If you had been at Mass at St. Joseph Church in Augusta, GA at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 8, 1980, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, you would have sung these songs at Mass. Guess whose Mass it was??? (Of course it was the Church's Mass and the priest celebrating it wasn't the one owning it, but it belonged to all who were there participating, just to be clear).
The Gathering Rite
Entrance Song: Sing to the Mountains
Rite of Sprinkling Holy Water: If God is For us
The Liturgy of the Word
In place of the Psalm, the Folk song, "I Will Bless the Lord"
The Liturgy of the Eucharist
The Preparation Song: Day by Day
At the Sign of Peace: "Peace Be With You My Brother"
Communion Songs:
Earthen Vessels
One Bread, One Body
Song after Communion: Be Not Afraid
The Recessional: Blest Be the Lord
From June 8, 1980 to Easter Sunday, 2011 is a giant leap for the priest who celebrated both Masses!

'Day by Day'? Really?? I think Pin has all of those tunes on an 8-Track somewhere.
Funny how things change.

I forgot to add congratulations and thanks. 6 June is my mother's birthday, too. Lots of happy memories that day.

thanks, 31 years goes fast! Starting my 8th year in Macon, July 1st.
Your ordination anniversary is the same as my birthday, but there is a three year difference.
... I won't tell you which direction the three year difference goes...
:-) Happy Anniversary!
It's no wonder so many drifted away from the Church in the 70's and 80's with songs like THOSE!
What IS a wonder, is how anyone could hear a call to the priesthood amid songs THOSE!
Glad you changed....
Sometimes change is a good thing.

Hoover Dam?
Can't believe you have been here so long. Seems like you just got here! Still looking dashing after 31 years too. Congratulations!
Looking more closely at the top photo, I have to ask--are you standing in front of Hoover Dam?
Yes and it wasn't June 6th-a bit of creative license.
