PALM SUNDAY IN THE ERA OF POPE LEO XIV…

 Yours truly the celebrant of the Vetus Ordo Palm Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Savannah, Georgia:

In the ancient Latin Rite Mass for Palm Sunday, the priest knocks on the door of the church to symbolize the opening of the gates of Heaven. This act represents Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where the faithful are invited to enter and celebrate the liturgy. The knocking serves as a reminder of the importance of welcoming Jesus into the community and the church itself.

The ritual emphasizes the transition from the outside world into the sacred space of worship, reinforcing the significance of the day and the upcoming events of Holy Week:

Speaking of the Vetus Ordo: With Father McDonald's permission:

Father, you supported recently Abbot Kemlin's following proposal:

https://southernorderspage.blogspot.com/2026/03/the-abbot-of-solesmes-proposes-to-pope.html

-- THE ABBOT OF SOLESMES PROPOSES TO POPE LEO THAT HE PROMULGATE ONE NEW ROMAN MISSAL WITH TWO FORMS — SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN RECOMMENDING FOREVERRRR!!!!!

Said proposal has met with rejection among various trads.

Philippe Darantière, president of Notre-Dame de Chrétienté, who organizes the Pentecost pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres, has rejected Abbot Kemlin's liturgical peace compromise in question.

I have found that interesting as Abbot Kemlin had referenced the Chartres pilgrims.

Question to Abbot Kemlin;

"Do you think that young Catholics today look at this "liturgical quarrel" differently? The 18-to-35 generation and the newly baptized, for example, seem far more relaxed on the subject…"

"Yes, absolutely! We see today how easily they move from one rite to another, with no difficulty in welcoming one another.

"Most of them pray just as easily at Paray-le-Monial, at Taizé, or on the Chartres Pilgrimage."

=======

I have found zero support within the TLM Movement for Abbot Kemlin's liturgical peace program. That does not mean that his proposal in question is worthless.

Father McDonald, do you continue to support said proposal?

Thank you.

Pax.
