My very progressive seminary taught me that artwork, plants, flowers and other decorations should frame and highlight the altar, ambo and celebrant’s chair. In other words it should frame, not obscure or distract or detract from the most important furnishings in the sanctuary.
So much of the irrational rational of the wreckovation of historic churches and the iconoclasm of the artwork therein was to make sure everyone knew what was important in the Catholic sanctuary although even that was made minimalistic.
But today, this is what we are seeing in so many parishes. Junk, junk, junk cluttering the sanctuary and hiding and distracting from what is truly important in the sanctuary!
WHY O LORD, I ASK YOU, WHY??????

It's a women thing!
Overwhelming and ticky-tacky. There appears to be amply embellishment without the add-ons. This space can and should stand on its own with tasteful and restrained extras. There is no reason to obscure the high altar / altar of repose as is seen here.
because they can!
Father McDonald,
I thought you would like to see this article by Archbishop Aguer:

Father ALLAN McDonald,
I thought you would like to see this article:

I am not necessarily disputing everything that this partisan article says, but it does seem to confirm that those who oppose Trump on valid or invalid grounds not only have Trump Derangement Syndrome, but also, as I have indicated you have, Democracy Derangement Syndrome. Our American system of free elections and the majority wins, be it the Electoral College or popular vote, and for Trump this time, he had a landslide victory in the Electoral College and a significant majority of the popular vote over the inept and embarrassingly so, competitor Vice President Harris. If America votes for someone like Trump to the point he wins, then that’s the way it is. Unless you want bloodshed by those with Deomcracy and Trump Derangement Syndrome, accept the fact of our American democracy even when your candidate loses and she should have and that gives me confidence in our system.
My suggestion to you is too stop with the Democrat Party’s talking points and memes and eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may die and then you’ll have no worries unless the Lord elects you to go to Hell.
K supports dumb, corrupt, evil people like Biden and Harris. Compared to them, Trump is a saint: defunding abortion, trying to stop a useless war in the Ukraine, making lives better for ordinary working men and women, no longer allowing unvetted criminals into the US at the taxpayer expense. K is a cultist because he religiously avoids facts which undermine his sick, world view. You would have been a perfect fit in the Third Reich
Well said, Fr. AJM.
To note: I'm only worried about myself and my observance of the Great Fast. People can speak their minds, but, the election is over and was decisively won as noted.
Fr. ALLAN McDonald - I have no problem whatsoever with and have confidence in our system.
It was the hard-core Trump cultists, among whom is at least one who posts here, who had problems with and no confidence in our system when they, after President Biden's election, rioted and stormed the US Capitol. Note that that election was certified by 50 governors, a majority of them being members of the Republican Party.
K, knock off the nonsense. The January 6 protests were only violent because of the Capitol police and FBI. Pelosi admitted she refused troop support. Contrast that to the BLM and Antifa's "summer of love" with mostly "peaceful" rioting and burning down of homes and businesses. The only cultists posting here are you and Mark Thomas. MT has a cultlike view of the papacy, and you have a cultlike view of reality. I would say you are a Democrat first and a Catholic last. The fact that you vote for the Party of Intrinsic Evil says it all: abortion on demand, mutilation of children, mentally ill men in women's sports and locker rooms, unvetted criminals coming over the borders, etc.
TJM - Your thinking is so screwed up you'd have sided with the British when they attacked the Capitol during the War of 1812.
Blaming the police for violence is like blaming banks for being robbed.
K - lol! Your thinking is warped! So destroying billions of dollars in homes and businesses is proportionate to what happened on January 6? By the way, Pelosi admits
her January 6 failures
https://cha.house.gov/2024/8/new-obtained-hbo-footage-shows-pelosi-again-taking-responsibility-for-capitol-security-on-january-6
TJM - Only a warped mind would suggest Pelosi, not Trump, was responsible for the January 6th riots.
Pelosi took responsibility not for the violence, but for inadequate security for the Capitol.

Lying certainly becomes you! Here is what President Trump said to the protestors:
WASHINGTON — President Trump on Wednesday urged his supporters to “stay peaceful” after thousands of protesters unhappy with the election result stormed the US Capitol.
“Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!” the president tweeted."
Pelosi WAS responsible as Speaker.
Now maybe Father McDonald will hear your confession.

They use to call Clinton the come back kid and Teflon president but he’s been trumped. That was then; this is now.
Hey K, your heroine (or should I say hero, because you are a Democrat?), Fani Willis, was on the receiving end of justice for a change. If you like, you are free to contribute some funds to her:
