I certainly understand why Democrats have Trump Derangement Syndrome. And certainly Catholics should be concerned about his narcissism, bravado and seeming lack of empathy for those he denigrates. We should be concerned about his eternal salvation.
But, he is duly elected by a landslide victory in the Electoral College and a significant majority of the popular vote. Love him or hate him, he's our president until the next election.
With all the negativity of Democrats who can't seem to find anything good in Trump, it is a shame that they can't see some of the good when it comes to making peace.
President Biden's failed presidency and on so many levels, failed when it came to peace in the Middle East and in Ukraine. In fact, we can blame the weakness of his presidency for enabling Russia to invade Ukraine. Biden and his inept VP, Harris, were completely incompetent to start peace talks leading to significant hope between Israel and Gaza and Russia and Ukraine.
But President Trump has created a way for peace in Israel and Gaza and we have seen the release of so many hostages and others because of Trump's efforts. That did not and would not happened under Biden and God forbid a Harris administration.
And negotiations for peace between Russia and Ukraine are now possible only two months after Trump took office.
Blessed are the peace makers for the Kingdom of God will be theirs. That's Catholic and it's not politics!

Many view Humanae Vitae as a flawed document (although its essential premise that marriage must be open to children is beyond peradventure correct) and it was never accepted by the vast majority of the Faithful because of its lack of understanding of the reality of the day to day challenges of married life, so is the Church's teaching on IVF is also flawed because it disregards the natural aspirations of people wanting to be parents. I cannot rationalize how the actions taken to have a child by artificial means are "intrinsically evil" in stark contrast to taking an action which destroys a child in the womb. But this theologian lays out the flaw in the Church's argument on IVF better than I could.

TJM, of course you are ignoring the immorality of IVF in that multiple eggs are fertilized and human babies in the form of embryos are put into deep freeze. The vast majority of these human babies will be discarded, meaning murdered, and the hitmen are those in the medical profession who will discard these babies as though they are nothing. If only one embryo is created through IVF, and the Church teaches that only one or two eggs can be fertilized and then placed into the womb. The sperm for this procedure must be collected during normal marital relations, meaning it is allowed to use a perforated condom to collect a specimen of sperm. I hope the Church’s moral teaching on this isn’t to graphic for you. But IVF causes tremendous numbers of abortions.
