POOR POPE FRANCIS! POST VATICAN II INDIAN CLERGY DISOBEY HIM AND AN ORTHODOX BISHOP QUESTIONS HIM—IS THIS POPE A PONTIFF OR A DRONE DESTROYING BRIDGES AND PONTOONS?

I fear this could be the good bishop’s swan song…Bishop Strickland’s letter

From the NCR:

Firebrand Texas Bishop Strickland says Rome synod will reveal 'true schismatics'

In a new public letter that echoes the Catholic Church's anti-modernist statements from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the controversial Bishop of Tyler, Texas, predicts that many of "the basic truths" of the Catholic faith will be challenged during the upcoming October meeting in Rome of the Synod of Bishops on synodality.

Having previously accused Pope Francis of "undermining the Deposit of Faith," Bishop Joseph Strickland warns in his Aug. 22 letter of "the evil and false message" that he said has "invaded" the church.

Strickland also urges his readers to be wary of any "attempts to present an alternative to the Gospel of Jesus Christ," and declares that anyone who resists such changes is not seeking to leave the church.

"Instead, those who would propose changes to that which cannot be changed seek to commandeer Christ's church, and they are indeed the true schismatics," Strickland wrote in his provocative three-page letter, addressed to the Catholics in his diocese.

Here was a reader's response to Bishop Strickland's letter. I think this reader is on to something:

"It’s heart-breaking to read Bishop Strickland’s words of warning, but of course he is absolutely right. The Synod on Synodality is an unconcealed stratagem to remake the Catholic Church in the image of liberal protestantism. Pay no heed to the fact that liberal protestantism has been a moribund failure that has descended into utter irrelevance. Why do so many of our prelates seemingly seek to steer the barque over Niagara Falls? The most charitable explanation would be naiveté. Another possibility would be self-interest. These prelates lead such sinful personal lives that they desire to destroy the Church’s moral teachings in order to soothe their own consciences. Lastly, one must consider the possibility of diabolical influence."

The reader may be on to something. My previous parish was led by a priest who announced that if you wanted to be a Wiccan it was OK with him, but he would follow Christ. I think I know what he was trying to convey, but I think he erred. He would spend his vacations on counter culture retreats with Wiccans, etc. and probably thought of them as merely competition or alternatives. The bishops make efforts to correct people who put forth that homosexuality is a form of love. I am concerned that is because of their own beliefs.

Correction: the bishops make NO effort to correct portrayals of homosexuality as love.

I cannot believe I was suckered into clicking a link to NCR and helping them with advertising revenue. This is like a guy I know who is extremely right/conservative sending me email links to stories that outrage him and the links always to MSN....if you don't like the animals, stop feeding them.

As for Francis, and his going after modern post-Vatican II rites in India copying all the West, he seems not to care what side anyone is on, except when they refuse to follow his orders, then he goes after them with hammer and tongs...NObody messes with Francis and gets away with it...he is the King of the Church, absolute monarch, and to oppose him is treason to be ruthlessly supressed. Or, maybe Russia, or 1970s South America or current El Salvador.
