DANGER! DANGER! DANGER! LAY CATHOLICS IN POLAND ORGANIZE A ROSARY PRAYER CHAIN NEAR POLAND'S BOARDERS, ORGANIZED BY, HORROR OF HORRORS, THE LAITY! DANGER! DANGER! DANGER!

The only danger, that I can tell, about laity organizing a massive Rosary Prayer chain is that "God's will may be done." This is quite dangerous to some civil and religious leaders, not to mention academics!

Read about the dangers of praying the Rosary HERE and HERE

Christians at worship do not pray against some things or persons but,  like Christ, they always pray for all persons and all things, leaving him who sees into hearts and motives to be their judge.”
– Aidan Kavanagh, Elements of Rite (Liturgical Press 1990), 79.

My comment to Father Kavanaugh: Did you ever pray prayers for minor exorcists; the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel; or witnessed, even on film, a major exorcism?

PRAYER TO
SAINT MICHAEL
THE ARCHANGEL

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..

And this to be prayed over another person, only by a priest delegated to do so by his bishop. Laity are not allowed to pray the prayers of a major exorcism over anyone and not even a non-delegated priest. Laity so never enter into a conversation with a demon:

Let us pray.

God, whose nature is ever merciful and forgiving, accept our prayer that this servant of yours, bound by the fetters of sin, may be pardoned by your loving kindness.

Holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who once and for all consigned that fallen and apostate tyrant to the flames of hell, who sent your only-begotten Son into the world to crush that roaring lion; hasten to our call for help and snatch from ruination and from the clutches of the noonday devil this human being made in your image and likeness. Strike terror, Lord, into the beast now laying waste your vineyard. Fill your servants with courage to fight manfully against that reprobate dragon, lest he despise those who put their trust in you, and say with Pharaoh of old: "I know not God, nor will I set Israel free." Let your mighty hand cast him out of your servant, (The name of the person), so he may no longer hold captive this person whom it pleased you to make in your image, and to redeem through your Son; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

All: Amen.

Then he commands the demon as follows:

I command you, unclean spirit, whoever you are, along with all your minions now attacking this servant of God, by the mysteries of the incarnation, passion, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, by the descent of the Holy Spirit, by the coming of our Lord for judgment, that you tell me by some sign your name, and the day and hour of your departure. I command you, moreover, to obey me to the letter, I who am a minister of God despite my unworthiness; nor shall you be emboldened to harm in any way this creature of God, or the bystanders, or any of their possessions.

Lol, Father Mike deserves a beer for that answer to your presumably rhetorical question. Old Father Aiden Kavenaugh has been dead since 2007. Give the man a bottle of Chimay!

The "C" Kavanaughs - Cavanaghs - are closer to the original spelling.

It all seems to derive from Domhnall Spáinneach mac Murchadha Caomhánach, the last King of Leinster and the last legitimately inaugurated head of the MacMurrough Kavanagh royal line.

My Irish ancestors probably come from the SE of Ireland, possibly County Wicklow.

Thomas Henry Kavanagh (1821-1882) from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, won the Victoria Cross during the Indian Mutiny for his part in the relief of Lucknow. Disguised as native, he left the city and made his way through enemy lines to make contact with the relieving force, and then used his local knowledge to guide that force into Lucknow. This was all the more remarkable since he was over six feet tall, with red hair and beard.

He wasn't even a military man, but a civil servant. His feat made him a celebrity.

Bee here:

You mean it was organized by the "royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart"? I know. The nerve! :-)

God bless.

Reputedly after a terrifying vision in the 1880s of the travails of the Church in the following century or so, Pope Leo XIII granted an indulgence to the faithful who recite the following longer form of the Prayer to St. Michael. The words with boldface italic emphasis added may raise the question whether Pope Leo foresaw the present papacy.

“O glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, be our defense in the terrible warfare which we carry on against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, spirits of evil. Come to the aid of man, whom God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hath fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in heaven.

“That cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan, who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and His Christ, to seize upon, slay, and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.

These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.

“Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.”
