MUELLER TELLS IT LIKE IT IS, THE NEW CATEGORY OF PASTORAL BLESSINGS COULD ENCOURAGE A PRIEST TO BLESS THE MAFIA, ABORTION CLINICS AND THE PEOPLE WHO PROVIDE ABORTIONS AS LONG AS THE GOOD THAT THEY DO IS BEING BLESSED! AND THUS THE DIFFERENT CHURCH OF ABSURDITY AND RELEVANCE HAS BEEN CREATED OUT IF THIN AIR BY POPE FRANCIS!

Müller - ‘Fiducia supplicans’ is ‘self-contradictory’

PRESS TITLE FOR MUELLER’S docu. LET US PRAY THE HE BECOMES THE NEXT POPE AND SOON!

Exactly.

How in the Hell does anyone with a minimal Catholic education justify imparting a priestly blessing to people who have no intention of repenting from grave habitual sin?

"Traditionalist" Louie Verrecchio responded:

"A "General Assembly of Cardinals and Bishops" might usefully consult, but they do not form a legislative branch called to limit executive powers. Muller's complaint is silly if the DDF is truly part of the Catholic Church and Jorge is truly the pope."

Not sure what Verrecchio is writing! Does he mean that Francis is an anti-pope and all the bishops and cardinals he has appointed are not a part of the Catholic Church? Or does he mean that the normal sources of consultation that most popes have used, to include votes (like the former synod of bishops exclusively) where votes are taken but the pope is free to follow or ignor?

I think it is the later that Mueller is making his point, not that this group legislates. Mueller isn’t stupid. I think Verecchio is slamming Francis as an anti pope and thus I am puzzled by you posting his comment!

Interesting video as are the comments on X, especially the comments. But the interesting thing is that the Vatican when the Pope crushed Benedict’s papacy as it concerns the liturgy and Summorum Pontificum, when to great lengths to state it had consulted the world’s bishops to end the papal liturgical legacy of Pope Benedict. Nothing this time, in terms of creating a novel third category of priestly blessings which aren’t priestly blessings, but a priest offers. Makes perfect sense, no?

In line with more than a few trads, Louis Verrecchio has insisted that Pope Francis, as well as Cardinal Müller, are heretics.

Louis Verrecchio comment in question is clear. Cardinal Müller's point — that the "document, which was neither discussed nor approved by the General Assembly of Cardinals and Bishops" — is weak.

==================

Also, "traditionalists" have noted the untenable position of folks who "pushback" against the Declaration. If said folks believe that Pope Francis is Pope — which means that his teaching authority is under Divine protection — then the attacks against the Declaration are untenable.

It all goes back to the following: If one is in communion with Pope Francis, then the following, as taught by Holy Mother Church, applies:

"This religious submission of mind and will must be shown in a special way to the authentic magisterium of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra;"

"that is, it must be shown in such a way that his supreme magisterium is acknowledged with reverence, the judgments made by him are sincerely adhered to, according to his manifest mind and will."

The pushback against Pope Francis/his teaching authority has trashed the holy and magnificent example of the "unconditional reverence and obedience" that Pope Benedict XVI insisted is owed to Pope Francis.

Father McDonald, please correct me if the following is inaccurate. Thank you.

If I recall correctly, the then-CDF questioned bishops as to the implementation of Summorum Pontificum. I believe that Pope Benedict XVI had called for such input from bishops.

The input revealed that there was a major problem in regard to the weaponization of SP against Church unity.

Pope Francis had not "consulted the world’s bishops to end the papal liturgical legacy of Pope Benedict."

By the way, Fiducia Supplicans declared:

"This Declaration considers several questions that have come to this Dicastery in recent years."

"In preparing the document, the Dicastery, as is its practice, consulted experts, undertook a careful drafting process, and discussed the text in the Congresso of the Doctrinal Section of the Dicastery."

Father McDonald, holy and great Pope Benedict XVI's liturgical legacy has not been crushed.

Pope Benedict XVI's liturgical legacy extends far beyond Summorum Pontificum. If anything, I hope that such is the case as SP failed (but not by way of Pope Benedict XVI's fault).

I hope, actually, I am certain, that in regard to liturgy, Pope Benedict XVI offered to us far more than SP.

Father Thomas Weinandy: Blessing same sex couples is “a charade.” Fiducia Supplicans “wreaks havoc on the very nature of blessings.”

Bishops and priests of the Roman Rite in Ukraine will not bless gay couples asking for blessings. Bishop Vitaliy: “But people who live in sin are not something that God can bless; and so, of course, we will not do this either.”

Cardinal Muller: “Well, the priest who blesses these unions is presenting them, with his gestures, as a path to the Creator. Therefore, he commits a sacrilegious and blasphemous act against the Creator's plan and against the death of Christ for us to bring the Creator's plan to completion. This also involves the diocesan bishop. He, as pastor of his local Church, is obliged to prevent these sacrilegious acts from happening, or he would become a participant in them and renounce the mandate that Christ gave him to confirm his brothers in the faith.”

500 member Confraternity of Catholic Clergy of Great Britain: “With honest parresia and from our own experience as pastors, we conclude that such blessings are pastorally and practically inadmissible.”

Bishop Strickland: Brother bishops, say no to Fiducia Supplicans.

Archbishop Vigano: Pope is “a servant of Satan.”

Bishops of Kazakhstan: Priests forbidden to bless homosexual couples. “Pope Francis does not walk uprightly according to the truth of the Gospel.”

Bishops of Malawi: “… to avoid creating confusion among the faithful we direct that for pastoral reasons, blessings of any kind and for same sex unions of any kind, are not permitted in Malawi.”

Bishops of Zambia: Fiducia Supplicans will not be implemented in Zambia.

Bishops of Nigeria: “No possibility” for such blessings.

Deo Gratias for such orthodox priests and bishops who, in a holy manner, have made such bold proclamations of the true Faith! As has been observed by some, the Church is indeed booming in Africa!

Father McDonald, Father Ruff years ago labeled me a "fundamentalist."

I had quoted the CCC, as well as a CDF document, to counter Rita Ferrone's argument that there wasn't a good reason to prevent deacons from administering Extreme Unction.

I accept, without hesitation, Church teaching. I grant, without hesitation, and in line with Pope Benedict XVI, my "unconditional reverence and obedience" to Pope Francis.

Therefore, in light of the above, I am fine with the "fundamentalist" label that you, as well as Father Ruff, have attached to me.

Thank you.

Pope Francis has decried and scolded Catholic fundamentalists. I see you disagree with him and that God speaks through him! Interesting and fascinating.

Father McDonald said..."Your funny, convoluted and Pollyanna way of thinking..."

Father McDonald, your holy and uplifting homily last Sunday proclaimed that we are called to maintain irrepressible joy, hope, and love even within the midst of horrific situations.

You had referenced that Jews, thousands of years ago, had been exhorted to maintain joy in the midst of ruination. You noted that folks trapped in today's wars in Gaza, as well as Ukraine, are, nevertheless, called to express tremendous hope and joy.

As I am aware of God's monumental love and mercy, I have every reason to be a Pollyanna. God is in charge of His Church...of everything.

By the way, Father McDonald, your homilies have always interested and blessed me.

Thank you, Father, for that.

Cardinal Ambongo: African bishops to produce united response to Fiducia Supplicans.

Bishop Marian Eleganti: "The so-called magisterium of Francis, which is presented as something new and unprecedented in contrast to tradition, is a nonsensical conceptual neologism by Cardinal Fernandez, because popes, like bishops, are guardians of the Church’s teaching and its unbroken tradition."
