ADVENT/LENTEN VIOLET VESTMENTS FROM GHANA

When I was the pastor of St. Joseph Church in Macon, GA, one of our parochial vicars, of the many we had, was from Ghana. He gifted the parish with the vestments that Deacon Don Coates and I are wearing. I guess this was around 2015 or so.

Fr. Godfred explained the symbols on the vestment, but I don’t recall now what there are.

The ones at the top and bottom are the Gye Nyame Adinkra Symbols (Reminds us of God's Protection for those who protect and care for the environment). It can also mean "I Fear Only God."

The central one, also an Adinkra symbol, means "Power."
