SINCE I DON’T BELONG TO THE SECULAR PAGAN RELIGION OUR GOVERNMENT AND MEDIA IS SHOVING DOWN OUR THROATS, WHOSE SACRAMENTAL IS CANCEL CULTURE, WHY WOULD THIS PAGAN RELIGION EXCOMMUNICATE THOSE NON-BLACKS THAT PUT ON BLACK FACE BUT EXTOL THOSE MEN WHO ARE DRAG QUEENS? CAN YOU OFFER ME ANY LOGICAL EXPLANATION?

I am befuddled. For a non-black person to pretend to be black in the form of a caricature, that can get that person who did it fired from his job or political office. He or she must apologize. It is a mortal sin of the new pagan religion based upon each person’s personal “truth.”

Yet, those men who make a horrible, stereotypical caricature of women, dressing in drag, they are extolled and celebrated. One appeared on the Price is Right nighttime version, this past year.

And HGTV’s The Property Brothers, had several drag queens on their show and showcased them in the most positive way they could.

And of course, we have drag queens reading children’s books for small children and the media thinks it is just so cool.

Keep in mind, women are caricaturized in these expressions by men in drag and in a vulgar dehumanizing way. It is very similar to black face of generations ago in movies and television and stage.

Why the “cancel culture” of one exaggerated impersonation as perceived as racist and the other extolled as entertainment but nonetheless a horrible sexism and actual denigration of all women, no matter the color?

Can anyone explain this Secular Pagan Religion’s morality to me and their logic?

Blackface isn't just "a mortal sin of the new pagan religion." Any action that is intended as a put down of another race of people would be sinful in Catholic moral thinking.

Blackface was used to mock African-Americans, to portray them as slow or stupid or sexually predatory.

It acted as a mask for whites in order for them to publicly enact these racist stereotypes without being recognized. This function was similar to the white hood of the Ku Klux Klan.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

The point you make is well taken and I agree with it. But you miss the point and quite willingly I think. Drag queens do the same thing to women. We can’t denigrate a race, which is morally correct, but we can denigrate women as a form of entertainment? If you applied your logic to both, you would be congratulated. As such though, you write with one eye.

Anonymous said...

A man dressing as a woman to make women look "slow or stupid or sexually predatory" would be the same as a white in blackface.

That's not why men don drag queen personas.

There are also women who dress in drag - they are know as bio-queens or faux queens or diva queens.

You, typically, miss an essential element, one that undercuts your own manufactured outrage.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

Interesting you make exceptions for misogyny and not racism. That is called stunted moral growth and if I were a pagan, you would be canceled for making excuses for such rubbish.

Anonymous said...

And, again typically, when you realize that your reasoning was mortally flawed and your manufactured outrage is exposed, you resort to clapping your hands over your ears going, "I can't hear you, I can't hear you. I can't hear you....!"

Go talk with a drag queen or two, male and female, and learn something useful.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

O my! Serious case of projection here. I recommend psychology counseling. At least all know you lose the argument and arecanceled.

There you go, again, trying to apply logic and reason to a world which has thrown such outmoded concepts out the window, along with every other thought process. Thinking is too confining for modern It/Stuff. We have outgrown such childish, constrictive ways and reaching toward our new being as Primal Unleashed, and none of those silly rules anymore. I should like to explain this some more to the inferior class, but have an appointment to go burn a store in the name of Justice and Peace. Hagan Lío!

Ever hear of Al Jolson? Irene Dunne? I doubt they were guilty of any of that but you should be upset with the Governor of Virginia and Canada’s Trudeau who both got a pass for wearing blackface. See a pattern here?

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

And don’t forget Hene Kelley. And if you look closely at the photo of the man in drag, he has a faux Asian look, which is a hate crime of racism.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:48 - Neither Governor Northam nor Prime Minister Trudeau "got a pass," so, no there is no "pattern" here.

Both men were humiliated, and rightly so, and excoriated for their past behavior. Said Northam, "I’ve had to confront some painful truths. Among those truths was my own incomplete understanding regarding race and equity. ... But I also learned that the more I know, the more I can do.” For him, confronting this reality moved him to act differently. "The governor’s equity-based reforms since February have included creating advisory boards on racial issues and removing Confederate monuments. Mr. Northam has also spent months meeting with black leaders on a statewide reconciliation tour – leaders like Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones."

Trudeau also was not unscathed. "The prime minister said that with his privileged upbringing came "a massive blind spot." (NPR 19 Sept 2019) The behavior, which he acknowledged was wrong and which he regrets, has changed him.

The hysteria over a purported ‘Cancel Culture’ is just another liberal argument to exert even more control over ‘free market economics’ and the marketplace of ideas. These leftists wish to control decisions made by private companies and control thoughts held by individuals. They do not trust market forces to correct bad decisions or create opportunities for others. In this particular case these leftists insist individuals interpret blackface and drag queens in exactly the same way they do. There is no room for diversity in the marketplace of ideas. If one views black face in a negative light one must view drag queens in the very same light.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

This culture’s hypocrisy is breathtaking. They call out black face and extol drag queens. They allow men to call themselves women and women men plus the binary nonsense in direct opposition to science and biology but denigrate a non black person who declares his or her blackness.

C.W. said...

Hypocrisy indeed runs deep. Particular aspects of this culture extoll the moral leadership and authority of a wide variety of religious figures. One need only open a newspaper, turn on the TV, look at the finances, examine the personal life, or study the writings and speeches of these figures to determine many have no claim to moral authority or leadership. Many of these leaders use their platforms to downplay the existence of a systemically racist culture, denigrate homosexual persons, and create a hysteria over transgenderism. Day after day and week after week millions fill the pews or tune in via television, radio, or internet. Most importantly many of these people are willing to make a financial contribution for the pleasure of being privy to these messages.

I am almost 68 years old and moved to Atlanta in 1957 and Augusta in mid 1960. I know what racism was as I experienced it in these two Georgia cities. This racism was institutional, segregation by law called “separate but equal” but it was not equal of course.

I lived through desegregation too.

Blacks and whites my age from Georgia know that there isn’t institutional racism today and what many people call racism today is prejudice. Prejudice exists in both the black and white communities. Lighter skin blacks have a prejudice against dark skin blacks. That is not racism, it is prejudice.

In my mixed race parish in Augusta, when we had parish dinners or programs, these were integrated, kind of. The blacks sat at their tables and the whites at theirs. This was not institutionalized or mandated. It happened naturally. the blacks wanted to sit with their friends and families.

Racism is too easily tossed about today . It is prejudice and it knows to color.

In Victorian and Edwardian England a popular entertainment might consist of a troupe of what were then known as 'nigger minstrels'. Their exoticism was understandable because (outside of the port cities) there were hardly any black people in Britain at the time. In the absence of the genuine article, white men had to 'black up'. This music hall tradition persisted well into the 20th century. BBC TV's 'Black and White Minstrel Show' aired from 1958 to 1978 and was its most popular variety show.

White men with black make-up and white girls in 'country' frocks performing song and dance routines wasn't my cup of tea, but the millions who tuned in every Saturday were not systemic racists and would have been astonished had they been described as such. When Laurence Olivier blacked up to play Othello he could not have foreseen that 21st century race-obsessed zealots would condemn him for it.

The proponents of 'critical race theory' and 'institutional racism' are in fact using pseudo-science to promote racism, just like 20th century eugenicists, social Darwinists and (in Germany) National Socialists. Either they are too stupid to realize this, or they are doing it deliberately.

Racial profiling in policing and education.
Racial segregation in religions. (Southern Baptist Convention and Southern Methodist Church were formed to exclude blacks.)
Red Lining by banks and mortgage corporations. (The maps used can be seen here: https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/10/19/498536077/interactive-redlining-map-zooms-in-on-americas-history-of-discrimination)

Are you half so adept in bringing to light all the folk who have worked to correct those errors, then and now?
And do you mind explaining what this major digression has to do with the blog topic? Besides pointless arguing and endless attempts at trying to instill racial guilt, which is a very racist thing to do, completely ignoring individual rights and freedoms and responsibilities. You want to punish yourself for something you never did, be my guest, but leave me out of your confused and pointless angst.

It was not a digression, but a response to the comment, "The proponents of 'critical race theory' and 'institutional racism' are in fact using pseudo-science to promote racism..."

I am very glad that many have worked, some, mostly Blacks, paying with their lives, to correct these errors. I would that, given the continued existence of racism, there is much more work to be done.

Again you reference history....old history which many of us worked hard to right. Most of the damage since then, to the great disappointment of those of us who worked so hard, has been entirely as self inflicted as the murder rates. Again, all you do is peddle guilt to those who committed no crime. Do us all a favor and go peddle that tripe elsewhere, such as a black nightclub, where I am sure you will feel the love in short order.

Anon 6:01 - Were I to mention, in some future context, the Boer War and Apartheid in South Africa, or the Armenian Genocide, or the Killing Fields of Cambodia, would you accuse me of "peddling guilt?" Certainly not.

Those who are unwilling to acknowledge the lasting, to this day, impact of Slavery, Jim Crow Laws, Red Lining by banks and mortgage companies, etc., are, it seems to me, attempting to paint our current situation as one in which the only people responsible for the perduring racism as something that is "self inflicted" are in deep self-delusion.

The majority of Americans recognize that racism is still an issue we must face and overcome, not one that has been eliminated. See Race in America 2019 - Public has negative views of the country’s racial progress" at https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2019/04/09/race-in-america-2019/

The Bible teaches us that the only sin that cannot be forgiven is Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

21st Century Sanctimony Culture teaches us that the only sin that cannot be forgiven is racism.

Can you name ONE public figure who has ever made racist remarks and WAS forgiven by the general public? MAYBE George Wallace at the end of his life--maybe.

The problem is, you cannot tell people what to think or how to feel.

I say this, because (gasp!) I am a bit of a racist. YES, I SAID IT.

I am a racist who realizes it is wrong and is trying to correct his behavior. I am having a harder time trying to correct my feelings. You see, I grew up with racist parents who regularly used the "N" word and constantly made black jokes. They weren't hateful--they were just products of their time and place. But the result is, I am uncomfortable around black people much of the time. I cannot help but fear that most of them despise me for the sin of being white. When I listen to the sub-language that they speak in defiance of regular English, part of me wonders if they are incapable of learning to speak correctly or if they just hate white people so much that they refuse to do so. I am not attracted to black women--in fact, I am very UN-attracted to them. I don't hate black people--I just don't feel comfortable around them. Do I deserve to be punished because I FEEL this way?

I NEVER made racist remarks in front of my children and went out of my way to teach them that all races are equal. In my interactions with black people, I hold my feelings in check and try to treat them with common courtesy. Do I deserve to be punished for that?

Abraham Lincoln was arguably a racist, but he knew the way black people were treated was wrong and he tried to fix it. Isn't what people DO more important than what they THINK?

This is why I believe "hate crimes" laws are absurd. If I kill a black man or a white man, either man is equally dead. A law isn't going to change my mind or convince other people how they are supposed to think or feel.

I constantly take my racism to the Confessional. I hope God absolves me. But what about us? Why can't we forgive public figures who have tried to reform their ways, like, say, Mel Gibson?

I hope this doesn't get me cancelled.

Well the Dems started the KKK and passed Jim Crow laws. They are more “subtle” today. People like Joe Biden tell Blacks they aren’t Blacks unless they vote Democrat! He’s also working on destroying their livelihoods to keep them dependent on the dole. The first thing old Joe did was just down the pipeline which threw union workers, some of whom are black, out of their good paying jobs. One news source had a picture and statement of a Black union worker who was not happy with Old Joe. As I said earlier, White liberals are among the more racist members of our society. They just have zero self awareness

The sentiment is this list of injustices (as well as others) has all been totally overcome and no longer has any bering whatsoever upon ‘the current culture.’ In addition, no other systemically racial injustices exist presently.

This article, read in the context of previous writings by the blog owner and comments made in other forums by the blog owner seem to suggest the blog owner doesn’t view the use of ‘black face’ by light-skinned (‘white’) persons as objectionable. The actual issue is the blog owner has an objection to persons participating in drag or ‘drag culture.’ All this has been done under the guise drag participants must be considered in the same light as those persons donning ‘black face’ in regards to the purported ‘cancel culture.’

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

Let’s be clear, mocking any person to denigrate them is wrong, be it black face by a white person, or drag by a man. One is racism, the other is misogyny. If the white man is in drag as a black woman, add racism to it too.

Fr. Allan J. McDonald said...

Also, if a white man is in drag as an Asian woman, add racism and xenophobia to it.

Let's be clear. Drag performers are not denigrating women. They are no more denigrating women than a Caucasian actor who wears a kimono while performing the role of Nanki Poo in the Mikado is denigrating the Japanese. A city-slicker actor who dons a cowboy hat while performing as Curly in Oklahoma! is not denigrating cowboys.

Here is how crazy, the Democrats have become seeing White supremacy and racism everywhere:

San Francisco School Board member Alison Collins is under significant pressure to resign after tweets she posted about Asian Americans back in 2016 were brought to light by a parent group seeking to oust her. As I pointed out yesterday, one of Collins tweets said, “Many Asian Am. believe they benefit from the ‘model minority’ BS…They use white supremacist thinking to assimilate and ‘get ahead.'” Today the San Francisco Chronicle reports on the significant backlash to those statements. School board member Jenny Lam called for Collins to resign from the board. “I’m shocked, dismayed, personally hurt by the remarks about Asian American students, parents and teachers,”

I think the only reason she is being asked to resign is that Asians are a political force in San Francisco. It will be interesting if she resigns or holds on like the Governor of Virginia (Governor Blackface who never paid the price)

Here's another "nice" Democrat Father K can be proud of:

The arrest of Brett Blomme, a Democrat Milwaukee County children’s court judge, on child pornography charges has the people who put on the Drag Queen Story Hour program in Milwaukee scrambling to distance themselves from him.

The Milwaukee drag queens posted a notice on Facebook, which says, "DQSH Milwaukee has never been run by the Cream City Foundation nor Brett Blomme, neither have either participated in planning, organizing, hosting or performing at any of our events. Brett has never held a title or position within our organization ever.
"Cream City Foundation has only ever been a fiscal sponsor that allows DQSH Milwaukee to give & receive funds as a non-profit. Aside from financials, they have had no part in DQSH Milwaukee & DQSH National."

That is a nice try, but the Cream City Foundation is the LBGTQ advocacy group that funded this program. Blomme and the money he steered to the group enabled the drag queen story hour.

When you vote Dem, this is what you are voting for: perversion

No, as I have been saying all along and you have been ignoring all along, a person who uses the constumes/mannerisms of another culture or race is NOT the equivalent of black face when that black face is used "to mock African-Americans, to portray them as slow or stupid or sexually predatory." (My post at March 19, 2021 at 11:27 AM)

Your reading comprehension needs work, lots of work.

Drag performers are not mocking women, making them look stupid or slow or sexually predatory.

Minstrelsy, "the form of entertainment associated with minstrel shows, featuring songs, dances, and formulaic comic routines based on stereotyped depictions of black Americans and typically performed by white actors with blackened faces." is mocking Blacks.

What would be "incredible" is your intentional obtusity, were it not your usual ineffective defense for unsupportable assertions.

I really think that you transatlantic folks need to chill out. If Fr Kavanaugh wants to subscribe to critical race theory, which has no basis in science or history and is a typical post-modern fad, then good luck to him; but he has to acknowledge that many people regard it as not just unscientific but pernicious.

In pantomine the dame is acted by a man in drag and the principal boy is a girl. One might have thought that in these gender-fluid days this harmless convention would be seen in a positive light, but apparently not.

Some people regard racism as their right given the natural "superiority" of caucasians to other races. Or as they may percieve their own prejudice as being justified by the behavior of "non-Whites."

It is such people who pose a pernicious threat, not the people who call out their faults.

“The problem is that white people see racism as conscious hate, when racism is bigger than that. Racism is a complex system of social and political levers and pulleys set up generations ago to continue working on the behalf of whites at other people’s expense, whether whites know/like it or not. Racism is an insidious cultural disease. It is so insidious that it doesn’t care if you are a white person who likes black people; it’s still going to find a way to infect how you deal with people who don’t look like you. Yes, racism looks like hate, but hate is just one manifestation. Privilege is another. Access is another. Ignorance is another. Apathy is another. And so on. So while I agree with people who say no one is born racist, it remains a powerful system that we’re immediately born into. It’s like being born into air: you take it in as soon as you breathe. It’s not a cold that you can get over. There is no anti-racist certification class. It’s a set of socioeconomic traps and cultural values that are fired up every time we interact with the world. It is a thing you have to keep scooping out of the boat of your life to keep from drowning in it. I know it’s hard work, but it’s the price you pay for owning everything.”

One thing I don't understand. We are characterized as a racist country with racist systems and society. Yet over the last number of decades millions of Africans have migrated here (wanted to, and been allowed to by our racist country). Now if our country was (is) as racist as it is purported to be, do you think that would be the case?

Wouldn't you think that the Africans would communicate back to their brethren on the continent::"Don't come over here, it is systemically racist"? And that many of them would have migrated back to their mother country?

Large numbers of these immigrants have prospered here and know that things are better here than where they came from.

Beyond that, why are huge numbers of hispanic peoples clamoring to get across our Southern border, even in some cases at the risk of their lives?

Some random thoughts re the above:

What is the reality regarding the treatment and status of women and racial and sexual minorities in functioning Western democracies in 2021 compared to, say, 1920 or even 1960? Why can’t the reality that the treatment and status of women and racial and sexual minorities in functioning Western democracies has steadily and massively improved in historical terms?

Why can’t it be acknowledged that in our era the treatment and status of women and racial and sexual minorities in many non western, non white and non Christian nations and communities is still appalling, is still terrible!
For example, how does China treat its racial, ethnic and religious minorities? What is the status and treatment of women and racial and sexual minorities in many third world and many Muslim nations right now in 2021? In many nations still today homosexual activity is still a criminal offence, in some nations and communities around the world the death penalty applies to homosexual activity!

To label and regard functioning Western democracies in 2021 as oppressive, racist, homophobic patriarchies by world standards and historical standards is ridiculous.

Regarding so-called “white privilege”. Is there in China any privilege attached to being Han Chinese? Or being Sunni Muslim in a majority Sunni Muslim nation? Or a member of the majority tribal group in many African states? Of course there is. Maybe it makes sense to talk of majority privilege than “white privilege”.

By the way, I will today be reading of the Canadian man who is facing arrest and criminal prosecution for not using the correct pronouns etc towards his teenage daughter who now now wants to identify as male. Articles about this are easily found online - eg: google: Canadian man charged teenage transsexual daughter.

The Democratic mayor of a southern border town says he’s incensed over the Biden administration’s handling of the immigration crisis in his backyard — and he’s “pleading” with Washington to do more to stem the stream of migrants pouring into his small city.

“You have a breach on national security levels that have never before been seen in modern history and you’re not even batting an eye about it, you’re not even calling it a ‘crisis‘, you’re calling it a quote unquote challenge,” Mayor Bruno Lozano, a Democrat who represents Del Rio, Texas, told The Post on Sunday.

"To label and regard functioning Western democracies in 2021 as oppressive, racist, homophobic patriarchies by world standards and historical standards is ridiculous."

Yes, it is.

But this is just one more of the "unrealities" GK Chesterton warned us about so many years ago when he saw the self-destructive path modern society was taking.

I think it's useful to remember that BLM was founded (and remains under the control of) 3 women who are lesbians (disordered thinking) and Marxists. Those of us who have supported or enabled their foolishness by marching, spouting their talking points about "privilege" are no more than what Lenin referred to as "useful" idiots.

Perhaps there is no idiot who has been as useful to these disordered miscreants as Mayor DeBlasio of New York. He is married to a black woman--and that is fine. The problem is, she has seduced him with her personal antipathy towards law enforcement and, to please her, he has demonized police worse than any mayor in the U.S. and allowed the finally-safe New York City of Guiliani and Bloomberg to become WORSE than it was in the 70's--again to please the disordered thinking of his wife. We often see the same thing with parents of homosexual children, who pander to their disordered orientation by publicly abandoning morality and proclaiming their support of all things LGBT, convinced they are committing an act of love.

What a challenging time to try to live with some semblance of sanity.

De Blasio and his silk ilk is the modern face of the Democratic Party which corrupt bishops and priests support. They need to be given the boot if the Church in the U S is to recover in a meaningful way

Yeah, don't even get me started on the bishops who enable the DeBlasios of the world or their craven pandering to the BLM crowd. Truly vomit-worthy.

I am at present reading “Cynical Theories” by H Pluckrose and J Lindsay.

From chapter 5.

“Critical Race Theory is, at root, an American phenomenon.......CRT holds that race is a social construct that was created to maintain white privilege and white supremacy......it holds that race has been used to assert biological explanations of differences that are social and cultural, in order to perpetuate the unjust treatment of racial minorities, especially African Americans.”

I found this interesting on page 112:

“The Bible written over 2,000 years ago in the Mediterranean, where black, brown and white people were to be found, is filled with moralistic tribalism, but makes almost no mention of skin colour. In late medieval England, references to “black” people often simply described the hair colour of Europeans now regarded as “white” “

(To be continued)

Anon@8.22,

What you refer to has even made the news here in Australia. The worsening immigration crisis.
The hypocrisy of Biden and Harris on this issue!

The more flamboyant carrying on by some drag queens and LGBT queer activists and drag queens etc at “pride” marches and other events can even cause many homosexual people to cringe and blush. One does need to heterosexual and prudish to feel it is quite off-putting to witness phalanxes of people dressed in fetish gear, men in puppy gear being led on all fours by a “master” down the street, women with their tops off, sadomasochists flogging each other on the street etc ...and then the signs and slogans, eg: “rectal pride” and so on...

It is easy to forget that often the fire breathing gay, trans or drag queen/queer radical activist speaks for only a TINY segment of the gay population.

Anon 10:21 - And if you want to expose the matter more completely, there are more fetishists, puppy gear included, sadomasochists, etc., in the straight community.

And, if you want to see it on display, make a trip to some big city Mardi Gras or Carnival. Or, if you like, cruise Miami Beach or Ft. Lauderdale during spring breack with ALL the "carryings on" on open display among the college kids....

One does NOT need to be heterosexual or prudish to find........(what is mentioned above) off-putting and to cringe and blush.....many homosexual people also have the same reaction. Do you know that? Or do you deny it?
Also,
Anon at 6.17 PM,
Are you denying the very high likelihood that most fire breathing queer radicals and extreme, loud and noisy, gay, trans and drag queen activists etc often speak for only a TINY segment of the homosexual population of any state or nation ?
