Press here for article: Vatican Prohibits Priests From Celebrating Private Daily Masses At St. Peter’s Side Altars
My astute comments: This is really dumb and it is typical of what a new pastor sometimes does when he tries to overturn everything a parish has been doing and does it in an autocratic, authoritarian way. After all, wasn't Vatican II imposed upon the entire Church in the most pre-Vatican II authoritarian way possible, especially the liturgical reforms?
But the old saying Stupid Is As Stupid Does applies to St. Peter's new pastor, a cardinal who is also a Franciscan. Will he ban shoes and make everyone wear sandals?
It makes one tremble, tremble, tremble, when one wonders who the new Prefect for the Congregation of Divine Worship will be!
Cardinal Burke is to the rescue though! I am sure this will get a lot of traction from the pope and the new pastor of the Basilica!

Yes, this was clear expression of a new manager saying, "My way, or the highway."
While clearly forgetting all orders are not the same as his, and even forgetting all celebrants there are not Italian, or even Roman rite. Much less, those celebrating different forms of approved Roman rites.
I don’t this Vatican cares if it violates Church Law
It may be the new manager of the place, but certainly seems to have had backing from further up the food chain at the Secretary of State. It has the appearance of a plausible deniability scheme, where the lowest guy gets painted as the bad guy andntakes the fall if this blows up, which I hope it does.
Otherwise, why leave those side chapels even in existence? Just rip them all out. As for EF Mass scheduling down in the basement, how much would you like to bet scheduling one of those will find roadblocks, for one reason or another?
Has the pope hired Gretchen Whitmer as a consultant?
